1999 video of MMJ performing One Big Holiday

It took me years to get around to this, but I finally was able to edit this video captured from a webstream from September 1999.  Details are in the YouTube info section of the video.  Enjoy, and I will try to get the It's About Twilight on YouTube in the next day or two.

And listen to the lyrics at 3:23 and tell us if you think Jim is singing something different than "leather kids".  It sure doesn't sound like leather kids to me.  Maybe " . . . fans".

The entire benefit show was still available on Google videos last time I checked, so you can catch it there if you want, but be warned that the sound is about 40 seconds behind the video for the MMJ part.

Enjoy seeing the guys when they were all of 13 years old.  Just joking, Jim was about 21 when this was recorded.

I don't think they could get a recording they liked for Tennessee Fire.  They recorded a version of it for At Dawn but decided it didn't fit the album, plus they were being courted by a ton of record labels at that time and decided to keep it and some others in their back pockets.  I Will Sing You Songs was definitely one of those.  I have the At Dawn outtake of One Big Holiday.  It's sleepier than most versions and while it may have fit with the feel of At Dawn, it doesn't do the song justice.

Yes, the last drum hit in the video is Jeremy starting into I Will Sing You Songs.  No pause at all.

I suspect they were saved for the label debut, as well as what AMD pointed out- how to fit it in on the already 70 minute At Dawn album.

The sound engineer on this webcast kept twiddling with the knobs on this song, especially noticeable at the 1:30 mark were he almost turned the volume off. I think he had no idea how to deal with all of Jim's reverb!  It gets better on each song in this set as they finally got the settings where they needed to be.

And after about ten listens, Jim may be singing "leather kids" after all. It may just be some drop out causing that effect. I didn't notice any lyric changes on the others.
