QuoteI also heard a Spring tour was in the works.

When I first joined this board rumors were strictly forbidden.  I like this better.  As long as we know they are just rumors at this point no one gets hurt.

Wait these are just rumors? I need to track down that guy with my first born and return these VIP passess...

Rumor has it they are building a magical flying island this spring- the only way you can get to it is if you are invited.  They are playing 8 shows there.

okay its not actually a rumor...

it's confirmed by management! Surprise!
Oh I'll never say I knew you, but my heart can't wait to meet you on the other side

I heard that Jim has actually made some major advances with his 3D fax machine and not only can they fax fruits and vegetables now, but they plan on faxing themselves and all of their gear into the actual living rooms of anyone who buys a ticket.  They are even going to take requests!   No drinking and driving!

I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

I just got a txt from management and they say 2010 spring/summer/fall/winter is for sure.  the band has already completed their follow-up to evil urges which they are saying will blow minds.  12tracks, thick melodies, raging vocals.  all completely brand new songs as well as special guest appearances that they wouldn't disclose.

still not much info but at least it's something, they're saying somewhere around 220shows this tour.

The first part of this rumor is for sure, but 220 shows is wowza!  Hopefully they play 100 of them in the NYC area.

QuoteI don't think they have ever played in Memphis before.  That would be cool.  (Since it's only 4ish hours away from me.  :))
Hey, I'll meet you in Memphis if that happens! Of course, I'd much rather there be truth to the rumor that they'll play their first show in Oklahoma...

As much as I love traveling to see them, I'd love for them to come through OK as well!  Here's to hoping!

I found this from twentyfourbit.com that adds a bit more fuel to the Sun Volt/MMJ tour fire!!!!!

Jay Farrar to Release Woody Guthrie Album, Feat. Jim James

I mentioned this last week, before TwentyFourBit took off on our road trip, but a story that involves Woody Guthrie, Wilco, and Jay Farrar certainly deserves its own post. In an interview with the Austin Chronicle (via The Daily Swarm), Centro-matic's Will Johnson revealed some huge news about his involvement in the next installment of unreleased Woody Guthrie lyrics set to music composed by a living artist: Jay Farrar, of Son Volt and formerly of Uncle Tupelo, has taken the torch from Wilco and Billy Bragg, helming the recording of the next volume in the Mermaid Avenue series.

What's more, My Morning Jacket's Jim James is also performing on the album, according to Johnson. There's no release date set yet, but the songs have already been put to tape and are currently in the mixing stage.

My initial reaction to this news was that Farrar trying his hand at the same Guthrie project as his former estranged band mate and songwriting partner Jeff Tweedy could permanently burn the Uncle Tupelo bridge, but now I'm thinking the promotion of this volume could make for a pretty awesome reunion tour. I suppose it's going to take a few more chance encounters in Mexico for that to happen though.
