QuoteI'm kinda bummed, snagging Row W, though it is an aisle seat, so I won't have to hop over legs to piss or grab a beer (assuming they serve).  I hope to be near first in line the next day in Nashville, so I should be able to get pretty close.  Hope others did well.

If I try for a better seat on Friday, do you guys think I could sell this ticket (at face value) or risk holding a spare?  I'm an optimist at heart, but the $$$  is adding up.

Peace.

I got a rock!

They do serve alcohol, but not past 9pm, I believe.  So we usually stock up early.

I dont think you'll have trouble selling.  The presale tix went fast... and good shows in bham usually sell out (when at good venues like the AL theater or workplay)... might have to wait until closer to show date but you should be able to sell

QuoteWoohoo!

I've got floor, row M. Printed the tix and they say "Orch Seating", so yes, pretty sure it's pit.

i'm not so sure. have you looked at the seating chart?

I'm seeing what you mean. Kind of confusing.
Oh well, I guess we'll just have have to see. Anyone have any recommendations for nearby hotels?

The Pickwick Hotel is pretty close - and it's in Southside, which is B'ham's "going out" side of town...  http://www.thehotelhighland.com/

sorry now its called the HOtel Highland

The Redmont Hotel is really close to the AL Theatre...about 5 blocks away.

i live in bham so if anyone needs any info on where to pre-game, hotels, restaurants, etc. pm me and ill help you out. I got row O in the center!! :D

QuoteI have been to a few shows at the Alabama Theatre.  There usually is a 4 or 5 row pit with the row numbers of AAA-EEE.

Place is absolutely gorgeous.  I may have an extra pair for face value second row center mezzanine.

Let me know if you're interested.

Any locals have input on my hotel reservation in B'ham?  Its the Medical Center Inn, $79 ($89 w/tax).  Its supposed to be within walking distance of the 'bama Theater.

Thannk you Burke!

mymorningtide

I'm in there, although I'm still holding out for better seats!  This will be my 16th MMJ show (hoping to see them in ATL as well).

Any MMJ fans getting together before the show?  Let me know....

Info for Bars, Hotels, and AL Theater (because I work 1/2 a block from the AL Theater):

Bar before/after the show: I recommend Speakeasy.  It's a block from the Theater (on 3rd Ave North between 19th and 20th).  It's cheap with decent atmosphere.  They usually have pre-parties before shows.  This is not where I work.

Hotels: Only one within walking distance is the Redmont and the Tutwiler (well, my walking distance).  Both are great places, but can be pricey.  The Sheraton (at the Civic Center) is expensive, but also close.  Be careful about other hotels.

AL Theater: I bet they will release more good seats tomorrow.  I got first row in the Dress Circle, which I think is great (my wife sometimes likes to sit...boo).  Orchestra Rows A thru M are great.  Anything behind M is under the balcony (which is still good).

I hope everyone enjoys the stay in Birmingham.

The Medical Center Inn is a couple of miles away from the AL Theatre.  Definitely not within walking distance.  I think the only hotels that are truly within walking distance are the Tutwiler and the Redmont

For people who are looking for a good deal: I think one of the Birmingham hotels on hotwire.com is the Sheraton.  Hotwire has a listing for a 3.5 star hotel in the 'Central Birmingham Area' for $69
http://www.hotwire.com/hotel/results.jsp?searchTokenId=1

There's a website that figures out the hotels that hotwire uses, and it looks like the only 3.5 star option in Birmingham is the Sheraton.  It's definitely not a sure bet, though.

Looks like its about 1.5 miles or less.  The average human walks 3 miles per hour.  I would walk much further to see MMJ and not drive.  Perhaps I'll spoil myself with a taxi ride, though.  Save my energy for inside.  Thanks for the info.

I got a rock!

Well, I went on right at 10am CST and got nothing better than floor Row W from the Wed. presale.

If anyone has a spare single seat better than Row W floor, let me know.  Then, I'll put my ticket up at face value and send the $$$ to Red Cross for Haiti.  Hope the rest of you did better.  See you in B'ham!
