QuoteCould these be the two songs Jim did with the PHFB?

-Louisiana Fairytale (Mitchell Parish, Haven Gillespie and Fred Coots)
-Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone (Bill Withers)  (This a guess based on someone posting "She's Gone"

I'd say yes on LA Fairytale, but that was not Ain't No Sunshine.

I also think it is possible Jim sang on St. James Infirmary since that is one of the songs he sings on the Pres Hall album.

Quotei usually leave every mmj show thinking "wow, dondante is an amazing song."  but like someone mentioned, last night was probably the best of the several versions i've seen.

new song (something about friends), was about on par some of the more generic rock numbers on EU, certainly not bad but nothing mind blowing.

i'm still smiling at the thought of jim getting down on touch me pt 1 and wordless chorus with the nintendo pistol.

overall the guys seemed in great spirits and sounded great too.  good times.

and the alabama theatre is a treat. jim told some story about "getting all fucked up" all night and going on the roof of somewhere, although i dont know if he was talking about that theatre or what he was actualy talking about.

He was talking about being up in the Vulcan statue linked below at 6am after a night of partying and seeing the sunrise.

:D Thanks for the quick show upload!! Just started listening...

How'd the stage/lights look? I'm assuming the googly eyes were an EU thing and are no more...

They dusted off the EU lights and eyes.   Looked like the exact same set up to me.

Cool, I'll keep digging.  But you are saying that the phjb definately played st. james infirmary?
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

MMJCOBRA

....same lighting as EU tour...googly eyes and circle lights still present

I'm on the ground in Nashvile and on my way to my buddy's. First order of business: listen to "Friends Again".   ;D

BH, I believe it was St. James Infirmary.
if it falls apart or makes us millionaires

BH I wasn't at the show so i don't know if that is what Jim sang or if PHJB played it but I kind of just assumed it would be one of the songs Jim would sing on since it does on the PHJB album.

Seriously, that intro gave me chills.  I hope they keep it for the tour.  I lost my shit just listening to it off my laptop speakers.

that cover of "move on up" made my life, btw.

Outside of the new song + the covers, are we looking at pretty much the same group of songs as the last go-round? I could never really complain about a MMJ setlist, but I hope/know they will switch things up.

In the history of perfect pairs, we have:

Chocolate and Marshmallow
Peanut butter and Jelly
Chocolate and Peanut butter
Bacon and Anything
An individual and a MMJ concert
Peanut butter pudding and surprises
and I've just added
Highly Suspicious and a horn section
I'm surrounded by assholes

That's pretty much right - the setlists varied last tour, but roughly speaking the additions you mention above are at the expense of a few EU songs (some combo of Aluminum Park, Look at You, Sec Walkin, Two Halves), Cobra, and Phone Went West.

..I thought the show was outstanding, a continuation of the NYE '08 show (for me at least).  As their catalog grows, the quality of the set lists will too.  Opening with OBH was a bit of a shock, but they were able to follow it up.

I think the new songs sound like a few songs from every album:  Just Because I do; Dancefloors; Gideon; I'm Amazed.  More Rock.  So, I think they played it safe with those songs, and I would expect their new album to have it's own sound, like the others.

Finally, the covers were commendable.  Mother in law is one of the first songs I can remember as an 'oldie'.  They continue to exhibit their vast musical influences.

I am envious of anyone attending any shows on this tour!

YES - sounded awesome, almost like thats what Jim meant to do the first time around with it when he laid it down on Evil Urges.  Horns make everything better (see:  The Band).

I gotta believe Let's Be Friends Again is a new song.  On listening again this morning, I dig the doo wop beat and backing vocals.
Wow, that was fast!! Thanks! :D
