Was curious if anyone could share how the GA is going this time around-

what time you got there?  was there a line to get in?  where did you end up? how crowded are they selling it?  able to get in and out without losing spot?

So far my only image is from the drunk/stoned/idiot thread and hoping it's a better scene than that....

Crispy

From the the other thread about GA idiocy, it seems like my experience Wednesday night was a little unusual. I didn't have a lot of drunken idiots talking in my ear, or bumping me or otherwise pissing me off. Well, there was a little, but it didn't bother me much. I think I'm able be entranced by show and the music enough to block a lot out. One guy behind me tried to wedge his way in front but the I and the guy next to me weren't having it.

I got there at about 5:50 (is that right, flyguy?) and the line was a little longer than I'd hoped, but I was just able to get to the rail anyway on Carl's side. Doors were at 6:30, so I'd say getting there an hour before will guarantee you a rail spot (depending on the venue I guess). I was able to make friends with the people around me, made sure they recognized me and told them what I was doing so I could go get a double-tall bourbon before the show started and come back. My strategy when I want to stay at the rail is to have one drink like that and no more. And make sure if I've been downing beers before to empty the bladder. But I was flying solo and nobody was fetching drinks for me, and I didn't want to miss any of the show, so I was fine.

I've found if you make eye contact with the people you pass on the way out for a drink/pee run, you can get back to where you were with a minimum of stress.

In terms of mayhem, it looked like most of that would have been over on the Jim side.

There were some pretty serious shenanigans at the very end during Carnival Time. I was enjoying the song when a girl comes by literally crawling on the floor -- trying to get to the middle, I thought, but then she fell flat, just passed out cold. I and and a couple other guys around lifted her up, and then someone decided to put her over the rail to let the security guy deal with her. For some reason, he didn't go for it right away, and it took half a minute for another one to show up and hold onto her and get her taken care of. Weird stuff.

wondering the same thing mahg33ta.  you're going to MPP too, right?  it seems like an awful lot of us got pit tix.  but then there also seem to be a bunch of people who did multiple purchases & are looking to sell their extras.  so i'm hoping maybe it won't be sardines.

gates open @ 6:30 so if you have to be on the rail, you should probably head in fairly early - just to be safe.  there's always the risk of losing your place when you leave to pee or make a beverage run.  but if you're with people do it in shifts.  if you're there solo, ask your neighbor if they can try to hold your spot for you & offer to bring them a beverage etc.  not only it is kind but it's extra incentie for them to hold your spot for ya  ;)

i read that other thread too & really really really hope that our crowd is more respectful.

That seems about right to me.

We opted for floor seats just to the side of the stage in order to establish our "area".  It seemed like everyone around me was pretty well behaved.
