Quoteyeah guys... as i said. just shoot me your cell numbers and when i get to the lot on saturday i will let you know the deal.  i am going to try and choose a lot away from the main gate as security is always tighter near the entrance.  if for some reason i cant get in - i will let you all know via text and we will meet at the sheraton..

Ive never been to MPP, but any venue of this size that Ive been to always has employees direct you where to park, so I doubt youll be able to just pick where you want to park. Thats why it would make sense to have a caravan travel from the hotey so we'd have a few cars in a row or something

i hear ya!  but with so much conflicting info i don't think we'll know the lot situation til sat.  i think jd is offering to be our scout & i'm sure he'll text us all the details.

seems like a bunch of us may be rolling into the sheraton around the same time.  we'll probably all look something like this --->  :D  seriously tho, i think we'll all be looking out for other forum members & can pull together a caravan from there.
capt - didn't i read somewhere that you'll be wearing a name tag?  we'll all look for ya!

i called the sheraton to ask about the shuttle.  here's what i got:
"the shuttle service is available for destinations within 5 miles & is based on availability."
so it's not concrete but may still be an option for those who don't want to drive or walk.

That's right!  No one knows for sure but as I said, I have been conversing with some of the regulars over on the Phish board and they tell me that the lots are pretty much open all day.  As I said, I will be getting there between 12 and 1.  If they let me in, I will text you all and tell you where I am.  If they don't I will find out for sure when the lots open.  If we have to meet at the hotel, no big deal.  However my guess is that we will be able to get into the lots early.

Anyway, I got a number of your cells and I believe I have responded back to everyone.. Keep the cell numbers coming my way and I will make sure to keep you all in the loop!

Who else is  :D or is it just me?

I live in the area and I'm planning to call Merriweather today to see if I can find out the deal re: what time the lots open. I'll post here when/if I do.

Also, if anyone needs a ride from the Sheraton and doesn't want to rely on the shuttle, I will likely have two spots available (assuming I'm going to give Ky & ALady a ride over, which I've confirmed with neither).

Quotei guess we might not know about the lot for sure until sat.  this sounds like a good plan.

i hear the weather is going to be glorious!    8-)

I called Merriweather on the phone yesterday and they said 4:30.  Just so ya know.  Looking forward to a great show and a great day.

From what I understand, that is what they tell people who call... But from the people I have talked with, the lots are actually open all day if you just show up.

I am going to be there at 1:00, and I am going to text people when I find out what the deal is for sure.

I just received an e-mail from them that says the lot will be open at 4 pm, contingent upon traffic.

QuoteI am definitely up for this.  My friend and I fly in around 1:30 - does not look like a long drive from BWI so we will be there ? 2:30? - perhaps check in to Sheraton while I still have my wits.

I will pm my cell to JDbartender and if you could send some sort of txt once all set up, most appreciated.

Also, if anyone knows if there are any liquor stores in the general area, that'd be a help.... or, I'm happy to contribute $$$ ... don't want to show up emptyhanded!

did a quick search & this looks like the closest: absolutely wine or spirit - 10451 twin rivers rd, columbia, md. p# (410)992-6611.  i'm sure i'll have a couple extras to share tho.

So does this mean if there's a huge line at say 2PM, theyd start letting cars in then? Thats how I would interpret it

Also, when I called they told me 530PM, several others have been told 4PM...all these different times make me feel like it will actually be open much earlier but they dont want people raging in the lot for 6 hours before a show  8-)

I was half serious and half kidding, but barring me going to office max or something today, I probably will be sans nametag  ;D

...although I might write "I NEED FLOOR TIX" on a white t-shirt

Cant believe this shiz in almost 48 hours away  [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]

Maybe, but I'm not sure.

I will say that traffic is notoriously wretched in and out of MPP, so getting there earlier would be nice to avoid the crush.

Is it easier to get out quicker if you get there early or later (ie at what point are they parking cars closer to the exit)?

I hate to admit this, but I have no idea! I've always been the passenger, not paying attention  ::)

I recall getting out is easier than getting in. I'm about 45 minutes from the venue. We once left 2 1/2 hours before the opener and still managed to miss him due to traffic.

QuoteI sure am glad I'm walking over

Im pondering parking at this mall across the street and walking over, but thats a long haul for some chairs and a big ass cooler. Plus Id have to walk it all back before the show starts

As I said before, the phish phans over on PT who go there every year say the parking lot is pretty much open all day..

I think you are right... They are trying to avoid a huge party by telling those who call - don't show up until 4.  However my guess is, there is no real way to close the lot so they figure if they tell people not to come until 4, they won't.

I remember going to a DMB show in Virginia about 4 years ago and the venue said the same thing.  However when I got there at noon, the lot was wide open and no one was there.  So I grabbed a prime spot and started the party!
