You know, the more I look at his year's lineup the more I like it.  Will be tough trying to decide between MMJ and S&G, but I'll figure it out somehow.  :)  I love that these are the troubles that will occupy my mind today.

Also, on 1st Sunday, this looks lovely:

Preservation Hall with special guests Jim James and Terence Blanchard

Still hoping for a night time MMJ show.

CC, any clues you care to provide are greatly appreciated.  ;)

Sticky Icky Green Stuff

are they webcasting jazzfest this year?

Well, I'm a little jealous of this, I must admit.

Have a great time, you guys!   :)
if it falls apart or makes us millionaires

Oh, NoVa...you just made an otherwise very aggravating day very, very tolerable. Thank you!  :)
God sure baked a lot of fruitcake, baby.

I love, love, love Paul Simon and I have never seen him live.  I have listened to his Concert in the Park at least a thousand times and hearing Graceland songs in New Orleans would be fantastic.

HOWEVER....I imagine myself waking up on Saturday after a long night of partying on Friday (Crowes Friday is what I like to call it), strolling down to Cafe Du Monde for a cup of hickory coffee, shaking off the fuzz, and soaking in some of the city.  Then head down to the festival, watch some more great music and start drinking again.  Just as I'm starting really feel good again as the sun starts sinking toward the horizon and you can really feel the energy in the air, it's time to make a choice.

Choice A - Two 68 year old dudes and a humongous crowd.

Choice B - The greatest rock and roll band to ever walk the earth, playing after the longest break in their history.

1 Year, 2 months and 18 days.

That's 448 days without the Jacket.  448 days of Jacket Energy stored up.  To be unleashed upon thousands of unsuspecting fans who made the RIGHT decision.

Sayonara my ass.

Sunset, New Orleans, My Morning Jacket.  It's really not hard when you think about it.

(You would think I was going to this wouldn't you?)
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

THIS. Thank you, Dave, for making this decision for me. ::)

I have seen Paul a bunch and saw him at Jazzfest a few years ago. Some of those shows were great. But Paul seems to be kind of just phoning it in these days and I have no interest in Garfunkel or this reunion.  If it was Paul again solo I would possibly split the time between stages but since it is Paul and Art I will be at MMJ the entire time.

We need a Jackethead line at the rail! Well, as close to the rail as those of us who don't buy the inner circle access passes can get, anyway.  ;D

I think I'll be at the Jacket for the whole set.

I would love to hear S&G, but I can almost  guarantee that all that I would hear is the jibber jabber of a lot of people too intoxicated to shut up and listen.

I left James Taylor last year for that reason (primarily).  Too many folks not there just to see/hear him and for whatever reason, mellow songs seem to invite loud conversation.

I fear that S&G would be the same way. So, I don't think I'll spend any time getting into or out of that crowd.

Now, that's one conflict down.  I wonder how bad the other 8 are going to be for that time slot???

:)

See ya'll at the Jacket festival set, I'll be there early for a good spot!  Any chance in hell that they will show up at night and play somewhere?  Who's got some inside knowledge?

LowDownLuvDawg

late night is lookin like a no go... superfly posted their late night lineup a few weeks back... same old stuff... Gov Mule Greboy, Galactic, and Claypool.  Not that these are bad just dissapointing not to see a 3 1/2 - 4 hour late night Jacket blowout on the list.

tdogjuwan

There is no question it's going to be jacket at the fair grounds. Here's a great place to check out what's happing at night: http://www.jazzfestgrids.com

I wouldn't say a night show is out of the realm of possibility yet. The CAC is still open and I think it would be the place they would play. I also wouldn't mind a Jim Solo show at Preservation Hall. Preservation hall has put on some of the night shows I have seen over the last few years.

NoVa_NoLa

The cubes (day and time schedule) are out.  As predicted, MMJ closing the Gentilly stage.  Hitting at 5:30 to close -- not bad we'll get close to a 2-hour festival set (maybe an hour and forty-five).

Simon and Garfunkel start at 5:15 on the big stage.  Could do both for sure, but I'll probably wind up at MMJ for the whole time.  Gonna have to miss my friend Kirk's band, too.

No night show that I've heard of so far....come on CC!  Give me some good news!  ;) :D ;D :)

Cross posting: MMJ with Preservation Hall at Preservation Hall, midnight show on Saturday, 4/24!

edit: 4:17 pm EST...sold out already
