Question About the Live Show

Let me preface by asking to not take this the wrong way...

I have seen MMJ about six times in the last three years, and obviously really like their live shows.  That being said, their last three albums seem to have a lot of overdub (supplementary sound) in the recordings.  How much prerecorded sound makes it in the live show?

Did anybody notice toward the end of the RR show last night (don't remember which song) what sounded like a six year old plucking guitar strings?  WTF was that?  The band continued to jam on, but some crap was overpowering the jam that was going on...

Now I feel like my favorite band is like Milli Vanilli or something - help me feel better about this!

Yeah, we heard the noise too.  Sounded to me like one of the techs was tuning a bass for a later song but somehow got plugged into the mix.  Very disappointing, but the band seemed to back up and re-finish the song once the issue was corrected.

Thought the sound was really rough for the first couple or three songs but that may have been the ridiculous wind blowing through.  Seemed like YY's guitar sound would totally disappear when he faced into the wind and then blare when he turned his back, but that's just me.

Still, I was all smiles for this show.  Not sure how I get so lucky with Bear sightings but the trend continues.  The Run Thru segue was truly sick.  Thanks to all the cool people who made it possible and for all of you people who talk through the entire show... PLEASE STAY IN YOUR CAR NEXT TIME.   ;D

It was during mahgeetah. It sounded like they where tuning one of the guitars and accidentally had it plugged in. Doubt the band could hear it. Went on for a good minute only bad moment of the night. Dondante had to have been 15 minutes anyone have a time?

:dankk2: now  I can keep going to shows!  I must have been twisted or something...

Fantastic show. For me, it enters the Pantheon of great MMJ shows. Red Rocks is the perfect venue for them. Saw them with Dylan at RR a few years back, but headlining they were able to take the place over. Massive jams, especially on Dondante and Steam Engine. It took them 2:45 to play 24 songs. Strangulation was a highlight. First Light was awesome live and outside at Red Rocks. They had the one kink during Mahgeetah, but other than that they put on a great performance and had a solid lightshow. Jim talked about how the "monoliths are like giant arms taking you in. This place is holy."

It was Jim's tech tuning the flying-V off stage.  The guys at the monitor board were looking around for a while and once they figured out what it was they told him to turn it off.  Pretty funny actually.
