I apologize in advance if this has been posted already.

Nice to see Steam Engine becoming more common.  I've yet to see it live.  Still kinda looks like a standard setlist, but for Circuital.

I love it... "They fucking killed it tonight."  Yeah!

Although I live in SF & claim to be one their biggest fans, I had to work today and didn't go to Outside Lands.

I was originally planning on going if I found an inexpensive ticket on craigslist - I couldn't justify paying face value and missing work, plus I'm going to all 5 nights in NYC.

But as soon as I was done working (5:30) I made my way over to GG park, found pinnacle parking and ran over to the grassy viewing knoll from outside the fence while singing along with Smokin from Shootin.

I, along with 30 or so other non-payee's, caught the last half of the show from about a half mile away - the monitor came in handy.  Not my first mmj show (I'm usually as close as possible) but I still enjoyed myself.  I think a lot of the people around me weren't even sure who was playing but I was jumping around a bit and express my elation with a fan nearby by giving him a high five at the end of the set, before departing from the park.  Darn good for a free show (& in the park,) but so was Jimmy Cliff last night and Tommy Guerrero tonight which I had the privilege of seeing.  I can't lie though - MMJ does it for me like no other.

The fire, leaving many families on the street, and the shooting that pierced three people in The Mission tonight, was not a nice ender to the day though

Exactly! I rocked OUT with ms y, vespa and Matt, and it was one of the best vibes I've ever experienced at a show. You guys made it so great, and felt so lucky to be there with you and have no spillage! I nearly had to growl at some wanderers who came perilously close to stepping on my beer, though.

We were a ways back, having listened to Levon a little long, but as ms y said at the time, it was good to hear the whole mix from where we were, and be able to dance around crazy-like with plenty of room.

An absolutely magical Steam Engine blew me away.

One Big Birthdaayyy weekend, wheeewww!!  I mean I think everyone already covered the details of the awesomeness.... but shewt. I had to race the clocks, half of them still set on Pittsburgh time, why I'm not sure.... but my friends are of the utmost hardcore Deadheads one could envision, and they were not caring about how important it was for me to make it on time. And we lolly-gag around, failing hard on catching a taxi. It's 4:40, MMJ goes on at 5..... we're not far from Golden Gate Park.... ho-hum, ho-hummm...... TAXI! We hop in finally, and he asks us which PART of G.G. Park we're aiming for. Well that none of us seemed to know, but he wound up finding EXACTLY where the box office was and dropped us off right in front of it by 4:55. I get out and barely say bye to my friends, like "OKSEEYOUATFURTHERSHOWPEACE" and I made a beeline, got my ticket, waited in the bag-search line a minute, then bolted to the stage where I was able, by some miracle, to get 10-15 rows back off the right and still had space to move around.... Man I wish I coulda met up with you forum folks that were there!!! I was so outta touch without internet.......

My first live Steam Engine.... thank you San Francisco....and ending with One Big Holiday just did me in.

Thanks for posting the setlist!! And where the hell was I at for Levon Helm & Yim. In an internet-less house of Deadhead gypsy friends and out of touch with the other realities.... (mind you it was a fantastic place to stay, I just wish I'd heard about such an event)

Now posted up in Petaluma at a KOA with free wi-fi.... oh the drive across the country listening to MMJ has been hitting the spots.....

Must get back in time for Pittsburgh show...... 8/27.....8/27........8/27.........

I couldn't agree more with the title of this thread.  I was secretly hoping someone would come on stage and say that Bob Weir had broken his ankle and Further wouldn't be playing, but.....MMJ is willing to take up the slack and play for 2 more hours (and I love the Grateful Dead).

It was great seeing the band, albeit short but sweet.  I hadn't seen them since NYE at MSG, so I was jonesin to say the least.  Absolutely the highlight of the day, but I didn't really see much other than MMJ, Wolfmother (who freaking rawk!) and Further.

I really think this will be my last Outsidelands though.  The whole festival is just a major pain in the arse.  The logistics of getting there, getting in and out of the festival grounds and area, and then just moving around inside.....all a huge pain in the arse!  The setup is absolutely terrible.  And only Heineken and Newcastel  :-X.  I won't be going back again (unless MMJ is playing of course).

Sorry if someone posted this before, just saw this on Rolling Stone's website....from OL Fest
