Awesome pic Nymph!  Those two dudes are lucky to have met you and your crew.  Sounds like this show was special.  If I ever in my life get At Dawn and Where to Begin back to back, my life will be complete.

Oh yeahhh, I've done over a 1000 miles by myself in a car in one day once.  It was not fun after the first 700 miles. ;D

It was a great show, but I think we should have moved closer to the stage because there were a lot of jackasses talking around us.  Any time they played something pre-Z, people just started socializing.  I wanted to hear Bermuda Highway, but I probably would have just gotten angry.  It was a great show, the first I'd seen in Pittsburgh for years.  Hopefully other good bands will take a cue from MMJ and start playing Pittsburgh again.

So happy and jealous for you guys!  Seems like they are real accessible these days, I will have to make a point to see them afterwards in Maine.  TMP 2 before TMP 1 is just nuts!!!  At Dawn and a Steam Engine make for a monumentous night.

FYI, Mars is the planet next to the Moon.  It only gets bigger and brighter through September culminating at the end when they are both the same size and right next to each other.  :D

I am going to look into taping rigs.  I am getting discouraged at the lack of mics at these special shows.  Nowhere close to Wilco where there are a half-dozen tapers a show with all varying degrees of quality and location.  Who knows, maybe I will start with Portland and finish with EU NYC!

Thank you much!! Definitely stop after your show in Maine to meet up with them if you can! There are still a wild pack of butterflies fluttering around in my stomach, and it still seems quite surreal!

I did try and look up the planet facts last night out of severe curiosity, and the site I found says 'twas Jupiter?? Take a peek, I hope there's not conflicting info. about it elsewhere online though cause then I won't know what it was and will wind up just settling for Pluto  :-X

And do look into taping if you can! Sure makes for some fine memories!!  [smiley=laugh.gif] Let us know if you get it goin!!

I agree with ya, it was jupiter.  The mars/moon thingy is a hoax, I was checking to see if anyone heard of it.  I got duped!

Will keep you posted on the taping possibilities, need to get some advice on equipment from the experts.

THANK YA RUCKUS!! It was bittersweet, we were so happy & appreciative to meet them and they seemed genuinely happy to meet with us... more special than I can even process still heh  :D

Shewwwt yeah the road really does just never end! By some grace of jeebiss I enjoyed the long haul and wasn't too sore or anything after.. but it was strange trying to sleep that night, I kept feeling like I was still on the road... the way you feel if you're on a boat long enough and your body still feels the waves.... and knowing I'd be seeing MMJ if I kept goin' was like someone dangling a slice of heaven in front of my car, and I just kept looking at it and cruisin toward it!  :D :D

Just rolled back into Woo-town after an epic night in Pittsburgh.  Sorry I didn't get to meet up with you all as planned.  My GPS in our Volvo must have been a nature lover in a previous life becasue it seems to always take us through BFE to get to whatever destination we are going to.  The drive down was beautiful.  It just took a bit longer than we anticipated.  We didn't roll into Pittsburgh until 5 and still hadn't eaten anything.  After we ate a bite to eat at some bar that was serving pitchers of Yuengling for $10 I couldn't just stop at one!  :D

My wife and I finally rolled into the lot just after 7 and we just decided to chill and drink a couple or 4 or 5 beers before heading in just before 8.  We tried hooking up with cappy but he and his friend were heading into the show just as we were pulling in the lot.

Nymp and Dude, looks like you guys got the cherry on top of an amazing night!  Would have been cool to meet up.  Maybe next time!   8-)

As for the show, I have to pretty much agree with everything that has been already said.  Highlight had to be At Dawn into Where To Begin!  This was my second show and I've gotten WTB at both shows!  Not bad!  8-)

This band is definitley on fire as forty3is4me noted!  I sure hope somebody taped that show.  They always bring a lot of energy, but they brought it STRONG last night!  Complete permagrin for me from the opening song right on thru to the end!  :)  What an amazing band and I feel so fortunate to be a part of it all!

Lastly, I'm no Stillers fan, but it was freaking AWESOME to see Patrick come out for the encore waving his terrible towel in a Troy Polamalu jersey!  Talk about getting the crowd into a frenzy and then he was waving the towel more as they walked off the stage after the OBH finale.  Total Kick Ass moment!

One downer to the show is just how fucking disrespectful some people can be!  Jim was sharing a story of how they were glad to be in Pittsburgh and about how they went to the Museum of Modern Art that afternoon and he saw a painting with his and Patrick's birthday on it and he felt that was a sign that it was going to be a special night.  Well some jackass quite a ways behind us kept yelling at Jim to shut the fuck up and play some fucking music.  I thought maybe hacksaw had made his way down to Pittsburgh or something!   :P  Anyways it was totally rude and I wanted to go punch that guy in the face even though I'm normally not the violent type!   ;D  Oh, and I too hate the people talking the whole show.  I just tune them out for the most part though.

I can't wait for the next time these guys come through my neck of the woods!  WOW!  Just WOW!!!  That's all for now... 8-)

What a night! Im not sure if the Jacket sucked all the energy out of me, or the tube rips I took after the show for the first time in like 3 years, but I slept til 5PM today  ;D

Awesome show, Ive only seen them 2.25 times, but it was hands down the best of the bunch. I hadnt been following the setlists as all because I wanted to be as surprised as possible, and they def delivered a few surprises. At Dawn > Where to Begin. Touch Me Once. Easy Morning Rebel. I was floored they played a Steam Engine after already playing Dondante. Gideon caught me totally off guard as I didnt expect it in the encore. I had gathered that they had only been playing the end of Lay Low in another thread, so I was ecstatic they played the entire thing. As far as Im concerned, OBH shouldnt be played anywhere but last and it was the perfect ending to a great show. Circuital was sweet. The Jacket was on point and just pumping the tunes out. JJ was on fire.

Im with you ILB, loved that Patrick busted out the Troy jersey and Terrible Towel! I liked that it was the all gold and black throwback jerseys as well. I wish they did that at the beginning of the show, crowd probably wouldve been even more psyched. I had actually brought a Polamalu jersey that I was going to throw on stage, but I forgot it in the car. I guess it didnt matter all that much!

I cant say I had the same problem with the crowd - luckily. I was probably 15-20 feet back centerstage, had a ton of room to cut some rug, and the crowd was great and energized. No talking problems whatsoever. I didnt leave my spot the entire show, so all I saw was the people in front of me and the crowd was all about the boys.

We headed in at probably 730 or so, and there were still parking spots all over the place within 10 spaces to the venue. Not sure how much it filled up in IC Light as time went on, but I cant believe how empty the lot was

Missed all of DMM's set until the last couple songs so hopefully I can find some footage on youtube...any idea what the songs the band joined with him were??

Sorry the meetups didnt work out, but there's always next show! I have a feeling the Jacket will be back in the Burgh sooner rather than later, and for those of you actually from Pittsburgh, theres always other shows to meet up at. I didnt really want to push myself up thru to those of you on the rail, as I hate it when people do that to me, and the amount of rock out space I had where I was at was pretty spectacular.

Hopefully someone recorded that epicness of last night! Im still recovering  :D

I LOVE watching Carl!  And he was bringin' it last night!  I'm still in awe of the energy this band brings to their shows night in and night out.  I can't fathom a better live act going right now.

Oh and the lot was filled more at the far end of the lot it seemed.  When we pulled in, everything looked pretty full so we parked close to the entry gates.  It wasn't until we started walking in that we noticed how many empty spots were available closer to the venue.  Also, it seemed as though the crowd was bigger to me at the C'bus show than what was there last night.  Although, it's hard to tell how far back the crowd went.  We were probably about 50 ft. from the stage and we didn't move from our spot either once the show started.

I did like the venue with the cliffs to one side and the skyline of Pittsburgh on the other and the moon was a nice touch by Ma Nature as well!  8-)

Hi everybody!

Never posted before, but had to sign up to rave about last night's show.  To quote the man himself, "I'm Amazed"!

This show was my third time being MMJ, the first when I saw them open for the Foo Fighters in 03 (before I know who they were), and the second at Lolla in 07.  But I've never seen My Morning Jacket proper, and boy am I glad I did.  This show converted me from casual fan to fanatic.

Having no pavilion at the venue was great, it such a beautiful night to be amongst friends under the stars.

From Easy Morning Rebel on the band was playing some next-level shit.  Lay Low =  :D ! I was dancing and grooving and loving it.  Plus, the Run Thru jam into Touch Me I'm Going To Scream II, totally WILD!  The glowsticks flying throughout the crowd during Touch Me turned the whole place in a groovy rock rave.

And Gideon in the encore, what a song.  When Jim screamed, I felt lifted.  Religion should appeal to the hearts of young, but when it doesn't, rock n' roll's not a bad substitute.

I'm still glowing.  Hope everyone has a stellar time in NY tonight and Philly tomorrow!

And one more thing.  After the show, my friend told me he naming his first son Donald with the middle name Dante.   ;D He loved the show too.

ManNamedTruth

Amazing show last night, probably my favorite one of the 3 times I've seen them. At Dawn, Where To Begin, and Easy Morning Rebel were all pleasant surprises. I could do without the glow sticks, especially when people throw them at the stage.
ilikebeer-I was at Flaming Lips at the same venue and I heard someone yell at Wayne in a similar manner, must've been the same jagoff.
During Jim's banter he made it sound like they've played Pittsburgh several times in recent years, even though it's been 6 years since they've played here. I guess when you tour like they do everything blurs together.

Great show. I'm so suprised that we made it up to the front and right infront of Two Tone. It was one great night in Pittsburgh, and the weather was great for an outdoor show. We got their late...but we weren't really since there was hardly any people up front. This place was a nice spot for a show. Back in 03 they place was way different, but I believe this show was one of the best since Detroit 08. Highlights were Where to Begin, Lay Low and Steam Engine were awesome, totally rocked out Steam Engine.

Anyways, at the end of the show my wife was able to get one of their roadies, I think Carl's guitar tech to give her his set list! Score! We also bought a poster. #12/166....Woodnymph got #12. Next we all went to our cars and got some vinyl. I wanted them to sign my At Dawn and Evil Urges and our set list. (Sounds like a lot but their was me, my wife and our friend plus woodnymph had her vinyl too) So we waited by their bus for about 20 mins after...maybe longer for them to come back. And one by one they showed up to BS and sign stuff.

First was Patrick, super nice and told us them walked off the stage was were super excited about the show they just did. Next Bo came out with a pizza and offered it to all of us. (there was a totaly of 10 people hanging out) Good pizza and a super cool moment. Bo was really open about talking about the show and new album. After they left, Jim, Carl and Two Tone came over.  We all BSed for a few minutes, they signed everyones things, vinyl, cds, even the Pizza box.

This band is amazing. This was by far one of the best times we've ever had at a show. Each member of the group is super nice and willing to talk to their fans. I'm glad everyone on here had a great time....good hangin with you woodnymph, we'll have to do it again.

That's awesome dude, I don't think I would've convinced my friends to wait there like you did.
Dondante was probably my highlight, i love how they change that song up a little every time and jam it out. I got a poster too (love the design, reminds me of peeps), got #26. I got posters for 2 of the 3 MMJ shows I've been to (not too impressed with the one I don't have). I can't wait to get it framed. I should've got vinyl too.
