Ok, so I guess we're sort of halfway done. Or at least, we've got the groove down now and know what to expect as far as the mechanics of things. It's also the easiest divide in the albums. TTT and Patrick are gonna really start to shine going forward.

What have been the best moments so far? What are you looking forward to most? Biggest surprise? Let down (ha!)?

Personally, my highlight was PWW. Surprise was how energetic TTF turned out to be, plus the choice of covers.

No idea what's gonna happen on Thursday, but I'm waiting for Run Thru and Steam Engine the most. The horns are going to inject so much energy into the set it may electrocute anyone riding the rail.

Friday is a wild card - Z is so short. They're going to explode with Dondante and Off The Record, but even so, they rarely jam out past 12-15 mins if it's not Cobra. That leaves A LOT of time to mess around. I also expect glowsticks to rear their ugly heads.

Saturday. I'm looking forward most to the set closer - Smokin into Touch Me II, and then Circuital (I haven't listened to it in months so I'm fresh). Friends Again? ALL NEW SONGS?!?!?! The covers are gonna funk our shit right up.

I'm looking forward to Evil Urges with the Dearland Horns. I was just listening to the 2008 NYE show from MSG and they had a horn section on Evil Urges (the song) and it gave it an interesting aspect IMO. I thought it was cool. Interested to see how they fit in on other songs.

Best moments so far for me: War Begun, I Will Be There When You Die, rocking hard on Tyrone, getting Come Closer and getting close for Sabbath with room to rock out.

Biggest surprise: Johnny Quaid and Miss You.

Let down: The chick who chop-blocked me from behind (that's fifteen yards for clipping plus the personal foul) then preceeded to stand where I previously had stood and yelled on her cell phone looking for her friends during Xmas Curtain.  Even you couldn't bring me down at these shows evil woman ;D.

I did too, BUT if they did, it'd have been at the expense of either PWW or Cobra. I'm honestly shocked they're playing past 11:30

Haha yeah, true. I mean that sentiment did cross my mind after they played it, I don't necessarily disagree. It's just justified in the context of what we got in lieu of a crazier jam.

I have to agree Strangulation was weak but who am I to complain. These guys are ridiculous. Highlight so far for the week was It's about twilight now. Unfuckingreal.
The fact that my hearts beating, is all the proof you need.

Thanks for the honorable mention Penny!  Meeting you and the other good people who have followed your lead into McGee's has been like hearing Miss you into Cobra-- an extra special added bonus to the week!  It's hard not to be enthusiastic when you get to spend a week at 5 unique once-in-a-lifetime shows with so many cool forum folks who are equally as passionate about the band and the music and the experience.  We are sharing a really special moment in time and the fact that we all recognize it while living it to the fullest is awesome.  As I told you, you get my vote for Mayor of the MMJ fan club.

The crowd explosion when O started was the highlight for me.  That and waking up and finding Darkglow's pants next to my bed.

Hey, Searchin.  You there Saturday night?  I'd love to shake your hand.

my favourite moments: everyone on the board being solid! (kyle, jeff, penny, mike/janet, the girl from colorado who's name escapes me right now and i'm sorry because she was really fucking awesome, etc.) phone went west was brilliant! black sabbath cover! rod stewart cover! i thought tennessee fire from start to finish was just brilliant. they nailed it. jim's cape. tommy being one of the smoothest, most solid and tasteful bass players i've seen in forever. i loved that opening band from the at dawn night. i gotta check out their stuff.

i'm looking forward to: run thru, laylow, dondante, both touch me i'm going to screams, librarian. i also think the night of evil urges will have an encore longer than all the sets combined. maybe we'll see some monsters of folk stuff?

biggest surprise: all the talk of the venue not being solid. although i didn't do much walking around and went straight for the front so i don't know about the sound elsewhere in the venue.

let down: not going to carl's show last night. :( i just read that thread and i could feel my eyes watering. another let down is i have to go back to canada on sunday ... unless someone needs a new roomate!???
