PLEASE!   I am going to be like a kid on Christmas morning tomorrow.  The announcement of Jazz fest is going to be posted on the NOLA.com website.  Saw them last year and it was amazing.

Amen!  Though, early leaks has no sign of them.  Can't understand for the life of me...festival shows only for MMJ this spring, their "new" understanding of NOLA...going to be real dissapointed with a JazzFest without MMJ (despite the killer early leaks of who IS playing).

Hi hun.  I'll be home tomorrow.  (Yes, that's my wife who started this thread while I await away in a hotel in the home of rock n roll (Memphis) waiting the Jazz Fest lineup (that's becoming more and more apparent to not have MMJ on it....Ugh)).

BH

And these are two of my favorite people in the world that I have brought over to the MMJ dark side.   ;)

MMJ back a Jazz Fest will get me there for sure.   You driving kb?   :)
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

kbosch74

Of course!  Damn, Steph, Herm and I in the same "room" on a "forum"...what the hell has the world come to?  Just come on over this weekend and we'll drink, er, talk about it.

BTW, highly unlikely they're playing JF.  According to those in the know, non-NOLA bands are not invited to play back-to-back years.  FUG.  That doesn't mean they don't play a post-fest show some night?  Wishful.  Great lineup leaks regardess!

Early leaks (and these are only the "headliners"; don't even forget all the great local acts):
Weekend 1
Avett Brothers,
Decemberists,
John Mellencamp,
John Legend,
Jason Mraz,
Kenny G,
Jeff Beck,
Bon Jovi,
Robert Plant,
Tom Jones, and
Wyclef Jean....

Weekend 2

Strokes,
Greg Allman,
Arcade Fire,
Wilco,
Jamey Johnson,
Jimmy Buffet,
Kid Rock,
Lauren Hill,
Cyndi Lauper,
Lupe Fiasco,
Mystikal,
Willie Nelson,
Sonny Rollins,
Lucinda Williams,
Michael Franti, and
Maze feat. Frankie Beverly

kbosch74

Oh, and that's TOM WAITS weekend One, not Tom Jones.

BH

Ohh tough call on which weekend based on that.   Robert Plant/Tom Waits/Avetts vs. Willie/The Strokes/Lucinda/Wilco.  Either way,  Mufallatas/Hurricanes/Beignets/Gumbo/Red Beans and Rice.

Mufallatas/Hurricanes/Beignets/Gumbo/Red Beans and Rice

I'll add a few more:
Mothers/Luizzas Bloodies in the morning/Po Boys/Open containers...ENCOURAGED/11a start and 7p finish! (Greatest thing ever for a city fest, or I should say a city you actually want to hang out in)/French Market Inn/Drive-through bars open 24-7 (YES, there is a Utopia and it's called NOLA)/Lucky Dogs/etc.  God, I could go on forever!

Herm (um, BH.  forum, behing the BH is my good ole pal named Herm.  Know him.  Love him.  Sway him to JF.  ...does that you mean you and Trish are going to JF with us this year?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?

BH

Maybe.  sure wish mmj was there.  might have to sacrifice for wakarusa....

seeing jeff beck in NOLA would be the bee's knee's but alas, i won't be going this year. jazz fest is the best though and the aftershow's are almost better. lord do those 4am start-time shows kill  as for MMJ .. fest stuff is being announced now and i think we'll get some more normal dates in and around those .. but mostly late summer maybe ?

ALady

Full lineup is up at the fest site...no Tom Waits, but quite nice otherwise.  One of these years I'll get down there...

I'm terrible with names, but hi to Steph & Kevin?   ;) It's Maggie - welcome to the forum!

Thank god I was planning second weekend all along... Kenny G. ouch. I can't believe Jovi is back so soon. Perhaps that means the boys will be next year. Can't wait for some NOLA love, late night Tips shows, Cab Drivers equipped with Willie Mae's fried chicken and a cooler of beers, Kermit, Mardi Gras Indians, The Maple Leaf oh it all makes me so warm inside. I do believe Jazz Fest is heaven on earth.  ;D

Hey Maggie!  Hope you're doing well.

Well, I think we've settled into weekend #2 (nights 2, 3 and 4; can't do night 1, just too much time away from the kids).  Willie and Jamey Johnson for some good ole country, Gregg Allman, Kermit, Trombone Shorty, Bonerama, Jimmy Buffet, Newbirth Brass Band, Kid Rock, Robert Randolph, Papa Grows Funk...and the big one, The Radiators final show!

That said, since it seems MMJ is (currently) focusing on festivals, I did reserve a room in Memphis 4/29 - 5/1 just in case they play Memphis in May (in which case I'd likely cancel the NOLA trip).  That fest doesn't get announced until March.  Last years MIM festival had an outstanding line-up.
