For sure, going to this was the best decision I made this week so far (the worst was following Ruckus's lead and drinking bourbon).    I posted the setlist above but now that I got a few hrs sleep, I'll add to what everyone else has said

a)  I took a taxi to the bar and we pulled up to this dark, deserted building called Public Theater.   I told the cab driver "this isn't right" and he said "yes, 475" and pointed to the door.   I said "hmmm", this isn't a bar and while I'm staring out of the window looking puzzled, Carl walks by.    Complete gut reaction, I yelled "Carl, where the hell is the bar?  I came to see you play!"  and he turned and said "up there around that wall" and pointed me in the right direction.   Now I always figured my first band interaction would involve me saying something brilliant and witty, but not so much.   Still, I took it like the Owl sighting in Maine - a good sign of things to come.

b) that was one cool venue.   What J_rud said was exactly right - you looked around and just thought "how lucky are we?"    I really couldn't stop smiling.

c)  thought Carl was great.   Guess I shouldn't be surprised, right?  ;)  But repeated listening to the album didn't prepare me for how enjoyable the show would be.    Most of his solo songs relied heavily on his looping pedal, and being so close and getting to see him tinker away with his gear and create some amazing sounds was really cool

d) when they started Carried Away, the whole place (well at least our group, which was 1/2 the place) roared.   You'd have thought they were playing a Jacket tune.   I love that we've adopted this song.

e)  The forum people are great.   I was telling this to new guy Joel, who admitted shyness before McGee's on Tuesday.   If you are a lurker, don't skip a chance to hang with these people.    Very happy to put so many names to faces and forum names.

f) I saw a few pictures being taken but not sure about video.   I don't usually take video as my phone sucks and it takes me out of the moment.   But on this night, I hope someone captured some and will post so everyone can see Carl's magic.

g)  I too had plenty of band interaction post-show.    My first conversation with Tom was classic geek fan-boy.... El Caporal came on overhead and I said "hey tommy are you guys playing this one night?"   He stopped and tilted his head to listen and looked puzzled.   So I said "It's El Caporal" (like I need to tell the band what their songs are) and he still seemed confused and said "not sure, man" or something like that.   I walked away feeling a little awkward, wanting to slap my forehead Chris Farley-style.

h) but other conversations went well.   Patrick is the nicest, most generous guy around.   Johnny Q is one cool cat.   And Carl himself, glad to see him get his moment.   I thanked him for giving me the directions and yelling at him from the cab, and he said "no prob man, glad you made it".   So the night ended well.    Great memories.

Hello hello! Great meeting you last night! Awesome stories! I myself went dyslexic and took my cab to 245 instead of 425 hahahah there was a 243 then just an empty, empty lot.... I eventually righted myself though, and wow what a nice spot! It was so unbelievable to see everyone from the board dominating the dining room, what a good feeling! I couldn't agree more with all you've said! I'll be in shock clear through Christmas (or the rest of my life, actually!) about how great this week is... HOW ABOUT THAT JUNK! Heard the first few notes and my ears perked up so fast nearly knocked me off my seat  8-)  And I love the Chris Farley reference (though I'm sorry you were feeling in his position!) I'd love to see him interview any of the boys, I can just imagine it now....

Well shewt, I'm beat as all hell but what an insane awesome night!! SO AWESOME to meet everyone!!!

SEE YA TONIGHT!!  :D

FiddleCasT5o nice videos! Hoping my iphone stops acting up so I can post my videos from last night.

So nice to meet all of you last night, Thank you all for your gracious hospitality, esp. miss Penny Lane.

Highlight of my night (besides the obvious: tailgating country style in the big apple, minus the grill) thanking Johnny for rocking out the past few nights, while waiting in line for the unisex bathroom. Then I got to thank Bo, both guys told me "there's three more nights" lol of course I know this, but it helped solidify that Johnny will be continuing to come out on stage. Esp OBH, I have a feeling tonight they will rock that harder than ever.   ;D

Now you need to join us the rest of the week for festivities!
Those bathrooms WERE weird? WTF is up? I think the other part is under construction. If I had to pee next to Bo, ..well..I don't know if I could

Well, well, well...nothing that I can say that hasn't been said eloquently already!

Still beaming from the wonderful nite...meeting Johnny, Carl, Tommy, & Patrick.  Enough cannot be said for the kindness and approachability of these massively talented guys.

Most touching was talking with Johnny about his absolute love and affection for the band, and how he has such respect and high regard for Carl and all the guys.  Of course, I would not be me if I didn't ask the deeply personal questions about his leaving the band, and how that has been for him.  He was so gracious and kind and genuine.  It just made my love of this band that much more.  I can't believe how this continues to blow my mind.

I enjoyed particularly, after howling out Snowy Bramble - getting the first hand story from Carl..  I already knew the gist of the story, but hearing it from the horses mouth was just unbelievable.

Patrick is just the kinda guy I could hang with for hours!  We were talking about topics ranging from cooking to when Bob high fived his Mom during Run Thru at NYE MSG to the fact that his lovely wife Brigid (whom we met in Philly) was only able to attend the first two shows of T5 due to her work schedule.

So great to see Tommy & lp....of course.  Got a chance to tell Tommy how much we appreciate how this band is always "on point" and so tight...he was so kind and gracious.

To all of the forum members, I am So thrilled to have found you all, and to enjoy this ride together.  This has been an amazing few months of Jacket, and I will cherish it for always!!

Pics next...

Yes the peeing pressure was apparent. Nothing like giving someone a compliment with the sounds of flushing in the background. Deft will be joining you all, ready to get down on it.

Forgot to mention the obvious, Carl was fantastic, hoping he comes to LA for a show in the near future! Great to see the band supporting one another literally and figuratively, such nice guys.
