Ankles ache.  Knees ache.  Back aches.  It was real.  ;D  :D

Pardon my language y'all.  I'd seen Ozzy the night before and Drake and something called Die Antwerz or something like that so the F-bomb is part of my DNA now.   (I don't think that Die-guy knows any other word)

In all seriousness, last night was great.  I am surprised that they cut them  off right at 9.  There were a couple of other stages still going, but I guess they had their reasons.

He and Patrick sat in with Pres. Hall earlier in the day and they were really energetic.  Jim did his 2 songs and Patrick played floor tom on the St. James Infirmary Part 2.

The guys came out in costumes -- I'm not sure what they were.  The masks were big crescent moons outlined in gold with an otherwise silver or white plastic covering their faces.  They wore white robes and white wigs -- sort of like crescent moon angels with long curly white hair.  :)  By the third song I think everyone was out of their costume.  Patrick was the first to shed.

Pres. Hall joined MMJ for the better part of bottom half of the MMJ set.  I think it was after Black Sabbath, Jim's guitar was way out of tune and they started Evil Urges, I think (where is that setlist?).  Anyhow, he tried to tune up, but things were really off kilter so he played what he could, looped it, tuned the guitar, killed the loop, and then played the song.  I thought that was way better than stopping everyone and then restarting -- we were definitely buzzing after the Sabbath tune.  Stoppage would not have been good.

Aaaah well, I was so gonzo happy after the set, I just stumbled back toward the smaller stages.  Totally spaced on going to the soundboard to see if I could grab a setlist.  Wandered to get a hefeweizen, said some sayonara's and then ambled back to my bike.

The smile is still on my face.  I'm not sure what it is...but man, if they get announced for Bonnaroo, I think I won't be able to say no.

Gonna post some pics and a short video on FB now.

Again, apologies for the swearing -- It's a bit out of character for me, but that was the best I could come up with to explain my euphoria last night.

DITTO! I'm having trouble explaining this show...I think it's safe to say this was the most high-energy my morning jacket show I've seen (granted, my first one was in '08).

The biggest highlight for me was the version of Dondante. Smoke filled the entire stage and I could barely see the band even from up front. They had a thick teal hue coming through the fog for most of the song.

I'm not sure if the version they played is the new arrangement that everyone has been raving about since T5, but this was my favorite Dondante that has graced my ears.

Also, highly suspicious was outstanding! the amount of raw power and gritty funky goodness coming from the stage was overwhelming. The dueling guitars part on that song just seemed to rip a hole in the sky. Carl was WAY into this one, and especially rock-god-ish during the whole set. He rode the lip of the stage pretty hard in parts  ;D

Sabbath of course was very cool and spooky, and PWW seemed more reggae than normal which solidified my perma-grin. All in all the energy from the set is what stands out in my mind. Jim said something along the lines of "i feel like my organs are pressing out and about to leave my body!"

Can't wait for the band to come out of hibernation...until then I have Jim's head-towel from the Voodoo set to keep me warm  ;)
