I think you should come to Hoboken for a few hours, it's right across the water, 10 min bus ride or 12 min train ride. We have more bars per square foot than any city in the country, the view of Manhattan is the best you'll ever see (World Trade Center Side), hometown of Frank Sinatra and baseball (although thsi is heavily disputed), plus it's just a really cool place to see where the ships used to come in. ..oh and plus i live there.

and my friend from Long Island made me promise to go to Umberto's in New Hyde Park, so I'll be taking the train out there for lunch one day   ;D

Hey wizzard...ALady and I plan to hit up a few museums. Please come with!

MoMa just opened an Abstract Expressionist exhibition:

http://www.moma.org/visit/calendar/exhibitions/1098

They have a fantastic modern collection, especially if you want to see well-known things like The Starry Night, Warhol's Soup Cans, and Picasso out the wazoo. Just my 2 cents. :)

ALady....Whitney is one I've never been to, so we should put that at the top of the list. :) And the Brooklyn Brewery!

Nom...

P.S. Penny Lane I would love to go over to Hoboken.

My sister in law is an art history girl too, and she said the Whitney is her favorite.  I've never been to any (for shame!) so I'm excited no matter which ones we hit up!

one of my favorites is the neue gallerie .. but with it being smaller and more maybe more spendy, not a bang for your buck kind of stop. great stuff though .. esp. if you like otto dix, gustav klimt and bauhaus type stuff  :)

Damn, I would love that!  And yes, I have been to the MOMA, many times.  I love it so much!  Have you been to the Museum of Art and Design?  It used to be called the Museum of Arts and Crafts (or something along those lines) and was once across the street from the MOMA.  I love it, their exhibits are usually off the hook!  After NYE at MSG me and the hubs went and saw this cool exhibit of amazing things made from recycled goods.  So not your typical recycled art either.  This was my favorite piece:
http://collections.madmuseum.org/code/emuseum.asp?emu_action=searchrequest&moduleid=1&profile=objects&currentrecord=1&style=single&rawsearch=id/,/is/,/5924/,/false/,/true
Anyhoo, they have a new exhibit that could be cool:
http://collections.madmuseum.org/code/emuseum.asp?style=browse&currentrecord=1&page=search&profile=exhibitions&searchdesc=Current%20Exhibitions&searchstring=Current/,/greater%20than/,/0/,/false/,/true&action=advsearch&style=single&currentrecord=2
But I am game for anything!

I'm starting to get goosebumps thinking about all this!

At my house, we call them uh-ohs.

ms. yvon

this afternoon i mapped out a bunch of routes:

--nyc lodgings -> levain bakery
--nyc lodgings -> city bakery
--levain bakery-> t5
--nyc lodgings -> t5
--nyc lodgings -> wfmu record fair

visited both those bakeries a couple years ago:  both great spots!  city bakery also has hot breakfast and salads at lunch.

may also brave the crowds and head to rockafeller center and the nbc store for some 30 Rock swag. (who dat ninja?)
