Thoughts on Concert T's at the Concerts...

I ask you this.  What are your thoughts on wearing a shirt of the band your going to see to their show?  For instance, wearing a U2 Shirt to a U2 show, or a My  Morning Jacket Shirt to a My Morning Jacket show (you can use any band, really).  Personally, I can't stand it.  It's just one of those little things that annoys me when I see some dude wearing the tour shirt that he just bought at the show that he's about to see (oh, and sorry if you are one of these people...nothing personal).  Anyone else care to lend an opinion?

Wow I think that I usually buy shirts after the show but if I bought one before the show and had nowhere to put it I would throw that sucker right on. I'm glad i'm the kind of dude that doesn't care what other people think, can't really figure out why it would bother you though. Now a complaint. Bought a t at philly show in spring, they only had xl, tried it on at home too small. DAMN"T, they better carry XXL in the fall. >:(

i've worn the same Led Zep shirt to almost every concert i've been to since i saw the Stones on the 40 licks tour, with the exception of a couple unfortunate circumstances.
Hold my life until I'm ready to use it

this if funny because i was just thinking about this tonight for some reason.  i have this unwritten rule about not wearing the shirt of the band im going to see.  i usually wear some other band t-shirt so at least you might see someone that says "hey, im in to the band too."  its probably sounds ingorant, but thats me.   ;D

see you at the jacket shows wearing my pixies shirt!   ;)

i go always with my white pj-shirt to the concerts. but i buy the shirts always at the beginning of the concerts and i can´t put them in my trouser pockets ::) ;D

I totally agree with you but should keep my mouth shut because I'm sure I used to do it all the time when i went to shows as a teenager. I guess I'm showing my age?

This is exactly what I do.  I agree you don't wear the band you are seeing shirt to their show... I also rarely listen to the band I am going to see on the way to the show (but almost always afterwards)...

maybe wearing the T is a little obnoxious, but who cares? personally, i hardly ever buy concert Ts because i hate getting jacked for 30 bucks for a two-dollar cotton T. but when i saw MMJ open for Wilco, i bought an MMJ shirt because i really wanted the souvenir. i didn't wear it right away though. oy, maybe because it is a little ick... now my values are all confused and stuff... how about a compromise? what if you wear, say, a Ragged Glory tour shirt to a current Neil Young concert? then it's like this amazing, vintage, conversation piece...
everything sucks. really.

I think it's cool to see all the diffrent Pearl Jam T-Shirts at a PJ concert from all the diffrent tours, albums etc.  It's like a walking display of all their art work.

so is it cool if i wear my shirt three days after, or is this too late, or too soon?  what if i'm at a party the night after the show and i want to show the party-goers just how much i love and want to promote the band, whose shirt i'm wearing?  this is getting very complicated!!!  what if i play the cd of the band after the show, but the show was so loud, i really can't hear the songs?  i didn't realize there were these rules.....two tone tommy gave me a shirt after we played with them and i had a big grin on my face as i put it on immediately!!! You know the one with the campfire skeletons and the bear and parks and rec.?  awesome shirt!  do you think i offended anyone (including ttt) or was it okay that i threw it on?  if i (or anyone else) does something like this, you guys are nice enough not to be critical, right?  after all it's a shirt.  of a band you obviously like enough to don their logo.  let me know, so no one gets their feelings hurt by their overexcitement.

i think anytime a fan shows his sheer enthusiasm, especially when the band can see, it's a great thing. if you're a musician playing for a public, it's gotta be a good feeling to know the people dig you. ever go to a concert where everyone's wearing the same so-ironic-it's-not tight black jeans, filthy converse, "vintage" T and an absurdly-askew 200$ haircut? and they all have this forced blase look like they're too cool to grin from ear to ear with happiness? it's boring. i say joy is the new black! the only time i saw MMJ i was smiling like an idiot and didn't care, sang the words to all the sings and whooped and hollered like a banshee. so if MMJ gives you a shirt, you better wear it straight away! you don't want to insult the band...
and besides, it's getting too comlicated, like the Rules. you can't call a guy until 3 days after your 8th date or he'll think you're too pushy... do what rocks yo' boat.
everything sucks. really.

My thoughts exactly. All these rules on what you should or should not do to be cool or uncool, I don't get it.
It's just rock and roll, people can wear whatever they want.

If I may quote one of the all time great films,"P.C.U."--"Wait. Gutter, you're going to wear the shirt of the band you're going to see. Dude, don't be that guy"

What a great quote! Showing my ignorance here, what movie is that from?

Ah shit!  I KNEW I had already heard someone bring that up...I guess it subconsciously slipped into my mind.  Because I LOVE P.C.U. but I totally didn't realize they said that in the movie until now.  Damn...now i'm supremely unoriginal.  Oh well.  Good thread anyway.
