sry are you talking ´bout prog-rock?

*too much to read for me...and it´s too late* :D

so do you know porcupine tree?

tomEisenbraun

I would say it could be considered prog rock. Just because of the sheer length and diversity.

And when you consider that it really is a bunch of different songs, you can't forget about Rush's 2112. Which is a lot of different suites, as well.

Hmmm...

Also, I'd say that the new poster children of Prog would most undoubtedly be the Mars Volta, making insanely long journeyous (new word?) songs in which there is a recurring theme. Jeez, Frances the Mute begins and ends with the same phrase, which ties it together perfectly. It rambles through chaos and congruency and comes out intact on the other side. They also dabble heavily in soundscapes.

Speaking soundscapes, Cobra is also good for that, int he middle with the industrial sounding waves of washing machine or something behind the floaty piano.

And EC,
 ;D

I actually want to be a high school english teacher, though.
The river is moving. The blackbird must be flying.

Could Tool be considered prog-rock?

tomEisenbraun

I believe so. A bit more of a Metal Prog.

And let's not forget Dream Theatre!

For sure...oh, have you heard of a band called 'the fucking champs'?  Good, heavy prog-rock.

Chills

All right)
Hey there, all you middle men
Throw away your fancy clothes
And while you're out there sittin' on a fence
So get off your ass and come down here
'Cause rock 'n' roll ain't no riddle man
To me it makes good, good sense

Good sense
Ow
Oooh yeah

Heavy decibels are playing on my guitar
We got vibrations coming up from the floor
We're just listening to the rock that's giving too much noise
Are you deaf, you wanna hear some more

We're just talkin' about the future
Forget about the past
It'll always be with us
It's never gonna die, never gonna die

Rock 'n' roll ain't noise pollution
Rock 'n' roll ain't gonna die
Rock 'n' roll ain't noise pollution
Rock 'n' roll it will survive

Yes it will, ha ha ha ha

I took a look inside your bedroom door
You looked so good lying on your bed
Well, I asked you if you wanted any rhythm and love
You said you wanna rock 'n' roll instead

We're just talkin' about the future
Forget about the past
It'll always be with us
It's never gonna die, never gonna die

Rock 'n' roll ain't noise pollution
Rock 'n' roll ain't gonna die
Rock 'n' roll ain't no pollution
Rock 'n' roll is just rock 'n' roll

Oh Rock 'n' roll ain't noise pollution
Rock 'n' roll ain't gonna die
Rock 'n' roll ain't no pollution
Rock 'n' roll ain't gonna die

Rock 'n' roll ain't no pollution
Rock 'n' roll it'll never die

Rock 'n' roll ain't no pollution
Rock 'n' roll
Oh
Rock 'n' roll is just rock 'n' roll

EC
