I've never listened to him and I would be afraid to attend a show after what Tracy had to say but................ Holy Fuck is that song on the Elizabethtown soundtrack AMAZING!!!!!!  The Harmonica, The Harmonizing, The Banjo line, The Lyrics, and Ryan Adams has a really nice voice.  This song is bound for glory.
There's Still Time.........

EC

heh, I skipped it and am listening to the other song first (right now actually).

The Boar

Agreed, Brian. Great chorus. I haven't listened to much of the Ryan Adams stuff but his Whiskeytown album "Faithless Street" is purely amazing. "Strangers Almanac" is also fantastic. Check it out if you haven't heard it.

i actually like most of ryan adams' recorded stuff, but i think hes ridiculously egotistical.  i wouldnt say i like him well enough to see him live, but i dont think id even go for free.  basically, my opinion hes not good enough to have the ego & attitude he has, unlike say kanye west.  my .02

"New York, New York" is my favorite RA song.  I like the layers of guitars and the sax part at the end...
Runnin' from somethin' that isn't there

Adams is a very talented songwriter regardless of the fact that he may be quite possibly the world's biggest tittie-baby.
I actually first heard 2 members of the Counting Crows covering "come pick me up" a few years ago and they were talking about what an incredible songwriter he is. So I went and got his version and it's damn fantastic.
That's all.

Specialist

i like Ryan in moderation, i get sick of it very quickly.
Hold my life until I'm ready to use it

Quotethe world's biggest tittie-baby.
I have never, ever heard that expression before.   :)

Loved Whiskeytown & his first couple of solo releases. I think his first is his best & also like Love is Hell part1 a lot.
I read in NME that he stopped a show because someone called out for a Bryan Adams song & refused to play on until the guy with evicted?!! I lost interest after reading that.
If that's 4 real then the guys a prick.
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

dragonboy

BUT...going back the thread, yes, it is a great song!

a lot of musicians have huge egos, we may just be spoiled with Jim's refreshing down-to-earth attitude.  I don't know a lot of Ryan Adams but this song is fanastic and I also really enoy his song "To Be Young (is to be free, is to be high).  Good stuff!

RA is an asshole...and so is Kayne West.I do like some of RA's music though.Has anyone heard the story about the guy that kept shouting out requests at Ryan's show?...only thing was he thought he was seeing BRYAN Adams and was shouting things like "Summer of 69" and "One Night Love Affair"....Ryan threw him out...totally had him escorted out of the Bldg.I thought that was funny.
The fact that my hearts beating
is all the proof you need

Ryan may be a asshole but he also is a prolific songwriter.I've seen him perform with Whiskytown and as a solo act.Every time he never lets me down when it comes to performance.Of course I enjoyed the Whiskytown show a little more. When I saw him play here in Louisville at the Phoenix Hill Tavern, he actually stop playing and ask the people standing around the bar talking to stop and wondered why they spent money on a show if they weren't going to listen. That tavern is notorius for people just wanting to be seen and also being a meat market pick up place.I know Emmy Lou,Gillian Welch and Lucinda Williams have perform with him and I think they have pretty good musical taste.Justs my thoughts

primushead

It's all about some "heartbreaker"...what an incredible album.

JacketGal

I love "Come Pick Me Up" too. I think it's one of those songs that gets stuck in your crawl and you don't mind at all. Heartbreaker is a great cd all the way through.

Anyone else digging Cold Roses? I think it's Brilliant!!
But seein you feels good, and its always understood.
That anything much sweeter would make me die.

primushead

Yeah, great album.   I (luckily) got to see that tour recently when it stopped in asheville.  I love 'let it ride'; probably my most fav on that album.
