True fact.  I was playing a gig last night, and the place had booked two bands, and the other band was really loud.  Like really loud, and you basically had to follow their drummer in order to get through.  Anyhow, I went over at the break and it turns out it's a couple of dudes I've known for a long long time.  So I asked them what they'd been doing, and one of the things was playing a gig in Texas opening for Iron Maiden.
