Okay you alcoholics out there...gimme your vote if you had to choose one over the other, which would you go with?
How about if you were stuck on a desert island...which one would you go with??
I'm voting bourbon...

You must be from Chicago, because that's what I would choose too, pal.

I'm not from Chicago.
I would prefer a single malt scotch but that's not a choice so I'll go with the bourbon.

I am also not from Chicago, but I would also choose Bourbon. I have not had a nice bourbon in (wait, I can count) 29 dayzzz.
Yep. sux.
i switched from beer to whiskey about 3 years ago.
beer is usually a last ditch choice
Beer, friends.

29 Days without Bourbon makes one...weep! We need to lift that ban on export to Canada so we can get you on the Knob Creek train... ;)

What ban on export to Canada?!
you know, I can't go down to the liquor store and mail you personally some bourbon....at least that's what the post office here is telling me.... :'(

SERIOUS?! (You looked into it? sweet pea!!!)
What jerks. Never mind. I'll just have to come to goddamn Kentucky my own self and bring some goddamn bourbon back. Just WATCH them try 'n stop me!! ;)
Newcastle
flat out.

Yeah, but Newkie brown makes you really thirsty. I think it's the bull's blood...

i really dont like more than a few beers, so i dont mind the fact im left craving more and more. i love Newkie because you can drink it out of a fucking plastic cup, and it still tastes delicious. not many beers can compete with that.
Knee-jerk reaction: Beer
But in the long run, I'd be more inclined to say bourbon. Although beer is more filling and I imagine on a desert island, the menu would be sort of light and not vegetarian friendly.
I'm sticking with bourbon I think.

Of course I looked into it. Couldn't leave you all high and dry without some more Knob Creek or EC, now could I?? ;)
Beer, and it better be Canadian beer, but not Labbatt's Blue.
QuoteBeer, and it better be Canadian beer, but not Labbatt's Blue.
moosehead?
I'm sure there are plenty, but rattle off some canadian beers because I'm only familiar with Labatt's.
I would take bourbon, and then mix beer into it for a mixture I like to call "bourbeer". Patent pending.

thats quite an idea there. similar in pronunciation, berber carpet would go well with your invention since it absorbs stains so well, for those, you know, sloppy nights.

Of sloppy sex or sloppy drinking?

HAHAHA!!! awesome.
Golden Shores, there's Labatt's. Actually, what you guys call Labatt's, we call "Blue", because Labatt's has a lot of different kinds of beers. I always find that funny when American pals come and visit. They always want Labatt's, and I say "Blue"? and they don't know what I mean.
Anyhow, my favourite Canadian beers are:
Keiths
Moosehead
Mill Street Organic
Mill Street Coffee Porter
La Maudite
Creemore
Steamwhistle
hmmmm ...

See, I knew there was more up there than just Elk and bears drinking Labatt's. Some of that sounds good.

There's a lot of stuff up here that we keep secret. "Don't tell them ANYTHING" is actually our motto. ;)

LOL. I think that's our president's motto too ;)
I'm from Kentucky and we love our bourbon. Shared a few drinks with some the great menbers on this forum and can't wait till we get to do it again.

Word, my friend. Next week is going to be craziness. :)

anything sloppy is acceptable for berber carpet.
QuoteI'm sure there are plenty, but rattle off some canadian beers because I'm only familiar with Labatt's.
Hey, even some of the popular American brands are brewed in Canada by Canadian brewers. Coors is made by Molsons and Bud is Labatts. The big difference is that they are stronger in alcohol content than they are in the States. No matter where they are brewed, they both suck.
My favourite Canadian brands are:
Canadian
Keith's
Rickard's Red
Moosehead
Cool
MacCauslin Pale Ale
Cool?! We have a beer called "Cool"? Seriously? Who makes that beer?

Hahah...I'll have to check it out then. My life can get awfully sloppy sometimes. :P

Hey EC,
Cool is made by the same folks that make Buzz beer. You can get it on tap for $2.40 a glass ( US pint-size ) at the NY Cafe on Broadview & Danforth. It's a good restaurant and a good beer.

What was the beer that Jimmy Carter's brother used to make? Billy beer was it?
Ah, found it.

I did not know that! I love the NY cafe. I lived in the east end for years (used to work at Il Fornello). I will check out this Cool beer that you speak of. :)

Sweet.

Crazy! I love the Danforth, too. Favourite places include:
World of Cheese
Dora's (I miss that pub being so close)
Thuna herbs (I'm a hippie, so, you know)
Carrot Common (see above)
Stanley's. Have you ever gone there on karaoke night? I know it's probaby the skiddest bar in Toronto, but they have the best karaoke. ever.

I like the World Of Cheese too.
Stanley's closed four months ago. I went to karaoke there twice - didn't sing because she didn't have any MMJ songs for me to butcher.
I shop at the Carrot Common a lot. I go to the Big Carrot.
Favourite pub in the winter is the Auld Spot. The OId Nick for convernience and I love the NY Cafe for the atmosphere and good food.... and cheap beer.
There are almost no bad pubs of restaurants on the Danforth, except Terry O's and The Black Swan ( downstairs ).
Stanley's is closed? :'(
Oh no. I had a lot of good times there.
Okay, when you're at the Big Carrot, does the short dude with the really long dreads still work there? I remember he had a smile that is probably in my top five smiles.
Ah, The Auld Spot. I had a couple of very good dates there. Have you ever had their white wine mussels? They're splendid.
And The Old Nick. Me and an old friend used to go there probably once a week for a long time.
The only place I hate on the Danforth is that ladies' clothing store in the Common. b) it's not an environmentally friendly store, and b) the girls who work there are JERKS. Erietta's.
Also, I like the Black Swan. But I don't think I've ever been downstairs... (Just upstairs for the muuuuusic.)
EC:
I don't like mussels so I've never tried that there. The Auld Spot does have a good menu however.
The Black Swan is really a dive downstairs. It's funny: I was in Clarksdale Mississippi last February and a bartender at Morgan Freeman's juke joint, Ground Zero, goes to the Swan when she visits Toronto. It's a small world.
The dread guy is still there. I've never seen that smile.
