Does anybody know when where is the best time to see it? I want to plan a trip in the next few years to see it and would like some info.

Where are you planning on going? The farther north the better.

What a beautiful sight that would be.  This page (http://www.usatoday.com/weather/resources/askjack/2003-10-10-northern-lights_x.htm) says the best months are September and March and the best states are Alaska and northern states by the Canadian border.

Harris, Saskatchewan is supposed to be a very magnificent place to watch the northn lights.  I cannot verify that from my own eyes, but I certainly trust the people who told me so.  :)

Last year after Junior/Senior, as i was driving my most lovely (and quite worn-out, as it was 3 in the morning) my girlfriend and I noticed the sky was this weird green, and it was flickering. And I realized it was the northern lights. It was so magical, especially since it was that night. So amazing.
