Title: The Great Debate
Post by: megisnotreal on Dec 12, 2006, 12:50 AM
A few of my friends and I recently spent a great deal of time trying to decide what the past tense of "wake and bake" would be.

a) simply "wake and bake"-d?

b) woke and baked (which is awkward, but gramatically correct)

c) woke and boke (which is humorous in its efforts to preserve the original assonance)

Thoughts on this one? I know the fact that my friends and I talked about this for over thirty minutes may seem weak, but this is really driving me crazy.

For which choice do you cast your vote?

The correct past-tense for said term is wakey-baked, obviously.

For past tense, I usually just go with, "I woke and toke" or "woke and toked".  Whichever you prefer.

I always said "woke and boke" but I was just talking to myself.

there is no past tense for wake and bake. In any form of reference, it's wake and bake.

"Woke and boke" is good in situations where someone may be listening in, however amongst friends I lean towards "I waked and baked... and then I woke up again and it was like five o'clock in the evening and I realized my day was shot so I burned one before I headed over here to catch a buzz".

While we're on the subject, did you ever notice that this guy  :-X looks like he's holdin' in a big ol' hit?

She is hot isn't she?  And look at that flawless makeup and cheery smile, first thing in the morning.  Wow, what a woman.  I would definately have cartoon sex with her if I wasn't married and I was a cartoon.

Her and Lois Griffin man.  I would tear those two apart.  In a cartoon world, of course.

So... is the vernacular > the grammatically correct?
