Title: Tempeh?
Post by: primushead on Jan 16, 2007, 03:55 PM
Does anyone have a massive love for tempeh?  I hadn't heard of it until a friend of mine ordered it on a pizza a month ago.  It was fantastic.  Any other fans?

Basically, Tempeh is just pressed bean curd.  Sounds gross, but if it's marinated just right, it is the most delicious thing you will ever eat.

Looks & sounds like what the Japanese call Natto?
Strong smell & kind of sticky?

It's a love/hate thing...one of the few foods I hate!  :P

i love tempeh!!!
tempeh is a real superfood, but you have to make sure you get organic tempeh (as with all soybean/tofu products, if it's been gm'd, it can really mess your system up.)  tempeh is so good for you because it's been fermented.  if food is fermented properly (wine, saurkraut, etc.) it provides awesome bacteria for your bod, and is easier to digest, therefore you get the proper nutrients.  yarrrrrrrr.
