True Story:

A few weeks back a few of my friends and myself were over at another friend's house drinking some beers and playing GHII.  Then my friend's younger brother and his friends show up to the house and decided they're partying there.

Long story short:
I beat 15 people in a row on Free Bird.

Yeah, it's a game and a pretty badass game at that!  I've only played it once but it was a blast.  I'd call myself an intermediate guitar player and I actually sucked at it really bad, too used to playing strings instead of buttons I guess.  I would definitely buy it, the only thing stopping me is the price, I think it's like $80 for the game and one guitar, prolly another $40 for a second guitar, kinda steep, but I don't think I can hold out much longer, especially since I have a projector screen that's like 200 inches that I could be playing it on...

Someone needs to post a picture of themselves playing (shredding?) this game!

GH2 is amazing. If you play while you are drunk, it unleashes the hidden jim james in you and it kicks complete ass. It is a super self esteem booster btw, it makes me feel like I can play the real guitar haha.

I get so pissed off at my friends when they just stand (or sit) and play motionless.

Me, I'm a showman, I'm in it for the fans.  8-)  I got some pretty sweet moves.

It's tough, but it can be done, ha.  I'm a big fan of the no look playing or the 'get someone to play the whammy bar for you'.

Left Hand:

I have my 3 fingers (all except pinky) right in the middle of each button and then I have my pinky kinda between the blue and the orange.  I slide my hand down to hit the orange notes (poorly I might add).  My thumb is behind the the head kinda.

Right Hand:

I have my thumb on top and my forefinger on the bottom of the white strumming thing.  I usually only strum up on the really close notes.  And I kind of have the whammy bar underneath the knuckle of my pinky.

Hope that helps.  Practice will help a lot, I've played this game far too much, and I was terrible when I first started.

so you use your pinkie for the blue button? someone told me to only use three fingers. and keep my middle finger on the yellow button.  what would you say to that person? would it be on between you two?

Pinkie on blue it is.  Three fingers works well enough, but once you get into hard I think the pinkie is pretty much necessary.

It would be on, but I'd probably get cleaned unless it was on my specialty song; Take It Off by the Donnas from GHI.  I could play that song all day.

If everyone who played this spent even half the time spent on the game, they could have easily learned how to play a few chords and songs on a real guitar.

i tried playing a guitar once, it didn't work. seriously i was told to give up the dream, after i couldn't even play a little bit of "come as you are". i know i suck. but i sure as hell can play "heart shaped box" on GH2. but playing this game makes me want to try a real guitar again.

Guitar Hero is fun for experienced guitar players or those who don't play the guitar at all. I've been playing for about 7 years and if anything it has helped me with my real guitar playing.

My wife and I bought the controller and game package for each other for our upcoming anniversary. I played it for a little while last night and I'm convinced that it's the greatest game ever.

I'm only playing on easy right now. I gotta work my way up. I tried "Shout at the Devil" on the hardest setting and it made me want to cry.

i love playing "Jessica" by the Allmans on the game, i get into it, perhaps a little too into it.  :-/

i also kill at "Can't You Hear Me Knocking," even though it's harder to play in the game than in real life.
