Title: Colts vs Pats
Post by: TheBigChicken on Oct 29, 2007, 10:59 AM
8-0 vs 7-0....this should be a mighty fine ballgame to watch...finally something to kinda get excited about. Especially after that oh so exciting World Series...

YES!  They'll be hyping this one up ALL WEEK I'm sure.  It should be an awesome game though.

What's everyone's predictions?  I'll start.

Colts - 35
Pats -  31

I hope the '73 Dolphins are sweating because no team is even in the same league at the Patriots this year, not even the Colts.  It's rediculous.  I am so friggin' tired of Tom Brady and Beliciek (sp?).

Pats 31
Colts 17

This should be a fun one to watch.  Both punters might as well take the week off.   I hope I'm wrong but I'm thinking 35 30 Pats.

I would love to see Brady get knocked out and the colts run up the score to 50 - 3.
But I think Dungy has more class than that.
It feels like a mid-season Super Bowl.
My team the Bears are  done ( losers ).
GO COLTS  ( my new favorite team )
Brady has a new girlfriend. I hope he wears protection this time.

What everyone seems to be forgetting is that: 1) the Pats have beens scoring more points in their games than the Colts have in theirs, 2) none of the teams the Colts have faced have anything close to the offensive arsenal we have (including Brady), and 3) none of the Colts' opponents have had the defensive weapons we put out there.  I just don't understand all the hate--is it jealousy?

Everthing you've said can be turned around.  The Pats haven't played anyone as fundamentally sound on both sides of the ball as the Colts.  That being said I don't think the Colts can hang.  The reason I want the Colts to win though is because I don't like Belichick plain and simple.  I like pretty much most of the players though but in this case one bad apple spoils the bunch.

Sure, yes I'm jealous,  The dude is a winner, a millonaire, won 3 super bowls and dates smokin hot women,. What's not to hate about about him  :).
I just really don't like billichick, he seems really shifty to me, he is a nickel slick cheater.

I wouldn't say I'm jealous, but everyone loves to hate the guy on top.

I just have a problem with Bill's hoody thing.

And, as much as I want Tom Brady to give me something to hate about him, he hasn't done it at all.  He's very modest in post-game interviews, and generally is a classy guy on and off the field.

The colts have had a more difficult schedule and an extra week of rest, but I still think the Pats are going to take this one.

Pats - 41
Colts - 31

THat is a good article.  When I first read that I thought it was Bill Simmons.  He's an avid Patriot's fan so I was confused as shit waiting for some kind of punchline.  It was a few days later I realized that I am retarded.

Sorry everyone but I hereby denounce all the "cheating" accusations as bs propagated by sore loser Mangini.  I mean can anybody here seriously believe Bill is the only guy to want to study opponent's signals?  Why the hell did the Jets have 4 or 5 guys signaling from the sidelines if this is such an isolated incident?  Mangini got his ass kicked and was pissed at Belichick so he called him out--but on the bright side now the league is watching out for this so now nobody can get away with it.  As far as running up scores guess what?  Players are paid to score points and also receive incentives for their performance through the years.  Additionally there is a message to send:  "Yeah you guys all think that videotaping made us?  Well just take a look at our performance since the 'incident'."  I don't think anyone needs to apologize for a high scoring game.  And as far as NE not being challenged--San Diego has a great team, Washington was supposed to be a tough defense, and Dallas was undefeated.  I just don't see Indy racking up the same kind of point we've been racking up against our defense.
I'd be as short with reporters as Bill has been if they continually asked me assinine questions too.  He can appear distant but he is all business.

homer.  ;)

i liked michael wilboun's take on it today.  bellichek is running up the score to prove to everyone they don't need to cheat.  He also said that they have every right to run up the score but they're lucky there wasn't a dick butkus or someone like that on washington defense who wouldn't take a cheap hit on Brady.  If you want to stop it, punch the pretty boy in the mouth when no one's looking.

want to make it clear that i'm rooting for indy

No hate from TEO. I know we always have our hands full when we play the Pats. I honestly think the game could go either way, depending who is more "on" that day.

Yup - native hoosier right there - I feel the same way.  I've seen too many years of off & on days from the colts.  I would almost feel better if they were playing in NE.

I couldn't care less about the whole "spygate" incident although, his response to it was shit.  And as far as running up the score, who gives a shit.  They are professional athletes.  He doesn't have to keep the game close just for the other team's morale.  You never know who you'll have to play again in the playoffs and you want that team to know that you'll kick the shit out of em again.  He's just not a likable guy and therefore hard to root for. And, why does he have to ruin perfectly good hoodies by cutting the sleeves off?

I again strongly recommend ESPN.com's Page 2 Tuesday Morning Quarteback by Gregg Eaterbrook for very intelligent commentary on all of these issues including the Beli-cheat scandal.  You'll need a couple of hours to read the last few weeks - but the cheating scandal is a bigger deal than anybody wants it to be.

BB is obviously running up the score; just like any 8 year-old boy who's been caught doing something he's not supposed to, he lashes out with anger.  That being said TMQ's point this week is right on target - why are the other teams accepting the humiliation with such resignation?  Respect for the teachings of Gandhi?

BB's response to the running up the score questions is that "We're just playing football."  Well, the defense should continue to "play football" call 8-man blitzes and plant Brady into the ground until BB pulls him from the game.  If you're down 35 - 0 with 13 minutes left in the fouth quarter and Brady continues to throw deep, why are you playing vanilla d?  Blitz!

I'm not gonna say Steelers will when we play them, but they're not gonna get away with running up the score. no way.

Im picking the Colts, 28-24, b/c I'll be rooting for the Colts and I like thinking the team I'm rooting for is goin to win.

PLUS, I'm not buying the hype that the Pats are the best team ever; they put their cleats on 1 at a time just like the Colts.

I will say this about the Patriots, take the Patriots and the points when they play the Jets in Foxboro on 12/16!

ESPN has been hyping this up the entire week.  Did you see the press conferences they've been airing on Manning and Brady?  They really seem to have a deep respect for one another.

I'd like to see what they have to say when the cameras are off, though.

brady's got 30 tds and 2 picks.  That's insane.  he's going to beat peyton td record if he stays healthy.

btw, the thing we were talking about with brady taking a cheap shot if they try running up the scores is starting to spread, I heard bill cower and charles barkley talking about it yesterday.  bellichek should really take heed.

"Milli Vanilli moment in Indy?

In the past, teams that have visited the RCA Dome have questioned whether the Colts pipe in artificial crowd noise in an effort to disrupt the road team's offense. Though the Colts have denied any such chicanery (thanks, Tiki), the suspicions remain.

And the suspicions will only grow stronger after Sunday's game against New England. During the first play of the fourth quarter, the noise from the crowd contained a strange effect. It almost sounded like my kid was working the "Whammy Bar" while playing Guitar Hero.

We don't know whether that noise could be heard in the stadium, but it was obvious on CBS' broadcast. And it invites speculation as to whether the Colts are indeed piping in phony music -- and whether there was a malfunction of some sort on Sunday that offered proof of it."
