What song will they do?

Awesome. 8-) ...Since it's the Leno crowd I'd say I'm Amazed rather than something like EU or HS.

uh huh
I cant stand Leno. I hate that they are playing his show.
the reason they are not coming to Bozeman.... I now hate Jay Leno.
money talks...
Yep. More exposure for the band as well to a not-so-typical audience. I'm sure they'll come through MT again in the near future and make up for the missed show. :)
Hmm... Bozeman for 3000 or Leno for a tv audience of millions...
I thing they should have done both. I don't see why they couldn't. Doesn't Leno tape in the early afternoon?
QuoteI thing they should have done both. I don't see why they couldn't. Doesn't Leno tape in the early afternoon?
My thoughts exactly! Unfortunately I'm flying out of LAX Monday round about 3pm - was looking to see if I could postpone my departure....nope! Arrgh! Always a day late!! At least I'll get home in time to watch it.
What does this have to do with the cancellation of Bozeman? If they're on Leno this coming Monday it's the 22nd...they were playing Bozeman on the 30th.
About damn time!
EDIT: I meant YAY!
They need to sing a tender song on Oprah. That's the best way to get the album sales cranking!

Good point. I totally overlooked that and was just going by what Roscog said.
QuoteThey need to sing a tender song on Oprah.
actually, that's why they wrote Highly Suspicious; it would be great for the Oprah show and JJ can jump on Oprah's couch, ala Tom Cruise, when he plays the solo!
my bad - did not read to well -
Leno is on really late. I am not used to staying up past midnight on a Monday, but I will tape my eyes open if i have to so I can see it!!!
:o

Hey Meg, somebody was telling me about these rectangular black plastic things, ohh, I don't know, about the size of an '83 Buick called video "Kah Sets" or something like that. Dude might have been crazy but maybe you could look into to that and see what it's all about.
Oh, wait, I found a picture, so maybe he is on to something.....

Not sure what you do with that stuff hanging out though?
Wait...have they ever repeated a song on TV? I don't think they have. I recall one go-round each for OBH, Gideon, Anytime, What A Wonderful Man, I'm Amazed, Evil Urges, and Touch Me Pt. 2
My vote goes to Aluminum Park.
Actually Gideon is the only one they played twice but one of them was Boston Pops style. I'm with you, I hope they keep the streak alive and do something different. I would love to see Thank You Too with a strings section. How sweet would that be?
Can anyone help me with the missing info (?) on WAWM.
Thanks!

10-13-05 Conan O'Brien Anytime

05-10-08 Saturday Night Live Evil Urges
06-19-08 Conan O'Brien Touch Me Part II
09-22-08 Jay Leno ?

11/29/06 on conan. its on the archive, for future reference. i knew it was conan, didn't know what the date was.
I'm guessing I'm Amazed but Touch Me Part I would be a cool surprise.

I'm Amazed is still a good bet but now that I see this, they might play Two Halves.

what time does Leno start?, its been awhile
11:30 Eastern/Pacific & 10:30 Central/Mountain

OOOOHHHH...AAAAAHHHH! Good and wishful thinking. :)
This sucks man. TV On the Radio is playing Letterman at the exact same time!
I must choose Jacket though, for they are the superior group.
RRrrrrr UUUUU Readyyyy?!??!?!?
Only 7 minutes of show left. Cobra is out.
I won't ruin the surprise for the coasts but they sounded great!
was hoping for something different, maybe Aluminum Park, but they did sound good. Anyone else catch Jim's spin moves ;D
I wish they played "I'm Amazed" like that on SNL.
Was Jim fighting back laughing at first?
And was there a little more of a southern twwaaaanngg when he sang Ammaaaazzzeedd?
I am so pissed, I walked in to Jay saying, "thanks everyone and goodnight" What did they play???

Yeah. I thought he was trying not to laugh too. There was one part where he just about came out with it. Great job though. I was smiling the whole time. :) 14 days... oh please oh please.
they sounded fucking GOOD

Sorry, I had to do that. Additionally, they fucking rocked it. Sounded so good.
Fantastic!!!
The guys brought their A game to Jay tonight.Carl gets better everytime I see him and although Conan's OBH performance was my favorite I think this one moved into the #1 spot tonight. The only problem is now I WANT MORE LIVE MMJ!!!!!
I guess it's Okonokos time! ;)

Purvis, I've been here for over 5 years and I'm pretty sure that's the first Hotty Toddy ever posted. We could have used 1 more of those Saturday against Vandy :'(
First Wake Forest, then Vandy. We can't catch a lucky break. THE TWO YARD LINE??? REALLY!?!? >:(
Fuck tivo! i set a recording for it, get home from work, fire up a bowl, and start fast forwarding to the jacket, they rock it up until my fucking tivo pops up and says delete this recording?....it cut off about 10 seconds from the solo i couldnt help but start shouting at the tv. >:(

same thing happened to me, more or less. >:(
You should have recorded Conan too! I had to continue to Conan for the entire perfomance.

That always happens on Leno, so I was prepared and set it up to stop recording "3 minutes over". That happens on Letterman as well somethimes just so you know.
That was awesome. It looked like Jim wanted to do something but couldn't quite figure out what. Like maybe a knee slide or something a little extra. This weekend is going to be one of the best ever...2 shows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Any YouTube prospects for this bad boy?
Well here is this:

Also, meeting Charlize must have been pretty nice!

I'm with SplatSplatSplat maybe it's because my volume was down on the TV but I couldn't hear Bo very well so that the lick he plays over the verse was missing and that's what makes that song for me. And it's tough to beat OBH on Conan, especially considering it was their first national TV performance. Leno's got a better time slot for now, but that's about the only thing he's got on Conan.

I respect a diverse opinion like yours because you posted in a respectful way. However,I don't respect a sarcastic condescending response to my personal opinion of two great televised Jacket performances.Mocking someone's post serves no purpose but to aggravate, show arrogance,or both. It's not the same thing as politely disagreeing like you.
I like It Still Moves better than Z.If someone posted they liked Z better than ISM I might disagree but I wouldn't say,"Are you serious?","Hilarious!""You must be joking".That would be implying my opinion was superior to theirs and not just different.

wow, i really pissed that chick off. i'm sorry but i could never agree with you.
And i'm about piss some more people off I'm sure. ;)
I personally believe it was kind of a lame performance. Mind you, i don't blame the band. I actually blame Leno and his tight-ass conservative-ish setting. I don't think the stage/setup gave much love/energy for their performance.
I also don't think it was the best representation of MMJ in the live setting either; i can't see how a potential new fan would see that and think, "OMG they are soooo awesome! I have to see them in concert" as opposed to the Conan clip...which is just incendiary from beginning to end. Blows my mind every time i watch it. :D
again, I'm NOT saying THE BAND sucks. I'm just trying to be honest.
MMJ + LENO = Underwhelming.

I second that and you put in the best way possible. If I may be honest, I think I'm Amazed wasn't the best choice either. Yeah, it's the song that some of radio is playing but the album has been out since June. I too was hoping they'd play a different song for Leno but what can ya do?
huh, funny how opinions differ.
I found it to be the single most important event in television history.
Anyone else feel like the sound was pretty awful?
Is anyone else simply pleased to have an added MMJ tidbit as part of their Monday night? :-?
haha, i love all the hate around here.
I finally got this song when I saw 'em live at the Fox. Means a lot more now with the energy of everyone in that theatre behind it. Jim fuckin slammed out the solo here and anyone wiht their tv turned up could've easily felt that. Good solid deal, gentleman.
Thanks to those who posted the online clips. I was so upset when I missed this. Anyone know if they will be replaying it on TV? Thanks.
Ha! Tom loves the hate... ;D
Funny, I thought this performance summed one of things I appreciate most about this band; no matter what the circumstances they bring it.
The Tonight Show sound is often lifeless and I think the mix was off, especially on Jim's guitar, but their performance was still better than most rock band types Leno books.
Just saw this on Ms.P's blog:
"Oh yeah, those My Morning Jacket shows have been purty good. I thought they were in fine form on The Tonight Show, as well. You missed seeing Charlize Theron pick up Jim's cape and shake it out for him (after she accidentally stepped on it). Such a thoughtful young lady."
do you guys realize this performance means nothing at all except more record sales and some more spending money for the boys?
I still haven't seen this (can't watch nbc clips abroad)
I've been looking around but please post here/let me know if it turns up on a blog etc.
Thanks :)
rockin solo by jim and some nifty footwork...i would have busted my ass.....anyway love how the cape flys off when its time to shred!!! all hail mmj
