Title: Freeze Dried Food?
Post by: TheRoof on Oct 22, 2008, 07:55 AM
I was wondering if anyone knew of (or had) any cheap places to get freeze dried food or MRE's?

I'm doing a 5 night camping trip through the Grand Canyon next month and was looking for a sustainable food supply.

I've looked at Ebay, different outfitters, and army/navy surplus store but it would cost me a small fortune to obtain being on such a tight budget!

Thank you in advance for any help and info.

In exchange, I will attempt to wade, swim, and photograph the Red Patoka Sea ;)

I would keep searching the army surplus stores. They usually keep those kinds of things in stock. I use to take a lot of dried foods when we went. Oatmeal, rice, beef jerkey and those things. Take lots of dried fruit to keep yourself well hydrated. The jerkey goes well with dinner because the salt tends to make you a little thirsty
