-hair capable of being put in a bun....check
-pencil to put in above mentioned bun....check
-50's style cardigan....on shopping list but easy to acquire

-Peter Pan collared shirt....check
-Pearls....check
-Pencil skirt....check
-granny style heels...check
-book to carry around....check

And my Pièce de résistance....shushing people all night long!

But if you need an idea, my favorite costume of all time is Wednesday Adams (and not sexy wednesday, which unfortunately, there are sexy Wednesday Adams costumes available on the net  :-/).
I have done this twice (2 different times in my life and 2 different cities).  But the gist is this:

-braids, with a serious middle part at the front
-black jumper dress
-white powder on face and black eyeliner
-black and white stripe tights
-clunky shoes
***must scowl all night and come up with witty ways to die

Can I suggest one amendment to your costume?  Instead of Naughty Nurse (you may encounter a few others dressed in the same costume), you should be a Night Nurse.  Ala Gregory Isaacs:

I'm gonna dress up as a Dr. Dog...I can't get enough of those guys and while listening to 'aint it strange'...it just hit me. A collar with a bone on it, a stethoscope and scrubs and shit...I'm making the ears/hat right now. Damn, I love All Hallows Eve.  :D
