Title: Christmas Movies & TV (& Avatars!!!)
Post by: dragonboy on Dec 06, 2008, 04:31 AM
I'm looking at the list of Christmas movies @ my internet DVD rental site - slim pickings!

No A Christmas Story (never seen it) No Christmas Vacation (haven't seen it in years)
...anyone seen Scrooged recently? I saw it @ the cinema when it first came out but don't remember much about it.

I have Die Hard & Nightmare Before in my DVD collection, might rent Gremlins...

Never seen A Christmas Story?!  Get on that dB!  Christmas Vacation & Scrooged are my favourites.

I'm thinking we need a Christmas avatar thread.   ;)

A Christmas Story is played over and over again in succession on a couple different channels here. It gets old after awhile but its great as far as christmas movies go, very accurate account of what christmas used to be like.

I'm 100% Jewish, but I celebrate Christmas anyway. I would never let religion get in the way of such an awesome thing.

I have two Jewish friends that celebrate Christmas too, but most of my  Hebraic friends don't. Last year I bought my friend a present for Christmas and gave him a card with the tackiest Santa I could find on the cover. He loved it. I'm having a Christmas party soon and intend on putting up a menorah.

I like December for the get-togethers with friends and family. It's not about the tree and the presents, but I love turkey dinners and lots of wine.

I have only dealth with avatars on 1 other site. Heres how that transpired recently and have this in my signature there:

9/27/08 - I remove my avatar of Rashard Mendenhall in his Illini uniform because my undefeated alma mater Penn St was Playing Illinois.
Result: Rashard Mendenhall breaks his shoulder 2 days later on is on IR for the season

9/28/08 - I add a new avatar, deciding on Jim James, vocals/guitar for the band My Morning Jacket
Result: I go to see My Morning Jacket in Iowa City on 10/7, am 15 feet back centerstage, only to have Jim James fall off the stage 30 minutes into the show and being sent to the hospital, thus cancelling the show. I also had tickets (bought 5 months prior) to see them play 2 days later, but this was also cancelled.
10/08/08 -
QUOTE (Nigel Tufnel @ Oct 8 2008, 02:22 PM) *
Change your avatar to Bin Laden.

Result: TBD
-------------------------------

So, Im chillin on the avatars for awhile  :D

Plus on that site, it took my like 3 hours to find pics that I could cut down to size and fit for that. Waste of my time.

Yeah I wish I'd bought it a couple of weeks ago when I was considering it. Next year!

Saw Scrooged at the weekend (hasn't dated very well) & watched Nightmare Before Christmas last night.
Just got Gremlins (for me) & The Holiday (for my wife) from our DVD rental. I wanted to get A Charlie Brown Christmas but my wife said that @ only 25mins it was a waste of a rental  >:(
