The Simpsons have hung around too long - 10 years too long in fact - to unthrone King. And The Family Guy has been far more miss than hit since it came back from "hiatus".

Honestly, I'd never even heard of WKRP in Cincinnati until today...

Unfortunately for younger folks, WKRP was a series of its time, as SNL remains. For example, the show dealt with the then recent stampede deaths of fans at a Cincinnati Who concert back in 1979. Thus, some of the biting satire and social commentary along with historical facts may be lost on younger, first-time viewers.

WKRP was a series about a family owned AM radio station, managed by an inept man-child. The DJ's programmed the music, the sales manager was a bigot/alcoholic/womanizer and bad dresser, the news man was more interested in hog reports than solid news, the receptionist (Loni Anderson) was the smartest and best paid employee. Anyway, the music was played live and the actors actually spun the albums. It all felt real and every cast member was equally hilarious.

WKRP will never be shown like it was due to music rights used on the original broadcasts cannot be used in repeats. Also, some of the colourful language has been since edited out. But I'll always remember what Herb called Les when he contemplated suicide on the ledge of their building.

So it's a bit like Beavis & Butthead then?  ;)

I'd love to have Beavis & Butthead on DVD with the original videos put back in...

Season I of Ren & Stimpy ruled. John K left the show after that season. How could you replace the animator, producer, voice of Ren and the main writer?

King of the Hill is my favorite show ever... out of every show ever in the history of ever. I'm glad to see it is getting some love here, i tell ya what.

I am also a huge fan of Spongebob. I own the first 5 seasons on dvd. Yes, it's a 'kids' show, but cmon, most of the jokes are so complex kids wont get em. The kids just like the funny sounds, which also make me laugh so I'm cool with it. Def one of the smartest cartoons on nickelodeon ever, and by far the best thing on that channel since Rocko.

Frasier is my fav sitcom.

Superjail and Tim & Eric are the best shows on Adult Swim.

M*A*S*H is the best show to watch drunk.

I'm not gonna delve too deep into other shows, cause mostly I dont watch too much tv nowadays. Mostly sports. And spongebob.


EDIT: just noticed that Isobella mentioned Malcolm in the Middle. Excellent show. Not one character in that show was filler. They were all perfect.

I've been tearing myself apart lately. I was raised with Seinfeld, and it has been my favorite comedy for some time. The problem is, I watched a little Arrested Development while it was still on the air, but only fully experienced it once I bought the DVDs, and now it's giving Seinfeld a definite run for its money. It has better writing than Seinfeld, but Seinfeld was able to last three times as long with constant quality... They're tied for first. But considering my friends and I watch Arrested every day, it might soon move into first.

Simpsons is up here somewhere, as is The Office. Although The Office is getting less and less funny as time goes on. It's Always Sunny is spectacular. I would put Family Guy up here if it only lasted two-three seasons. After that, it got old pretty fast.
