I am a weather geek myself

the high is supposed to be 53 and it will not get cooler overnight, the temp should stay about the same...
Waterloo, IL/St Louis- 35 and not gonna get much warmer, with chances of Freezing Rain all weekend.
Meterology was my favorite class in the entire 6 years I spent in College. I learned more and had more fun in that 1 class then any other, by far. We all should be be weather geeks.

ya don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows!
but my thermostat says it's 44 degrees F in da ville.

Not too familiar with Columbia other than it being south of Nashville.
Saltcoats, Saskatchewan, Canada: -19°C, -31°C with the wind chill.
84 f'ing degrees fareinheit here (29°C). Iced coffee and a swim are turning into perfect treats for the winter months in texas. i remember a time when i used to wear coats in the winter down here

Haha! It actually wasn't a bad day out at all (when sheltered from the wind), I'll be sure to post when we have the -30/-35 days (without wind chill). ;D
-37C with the wind chill. Earlier today it was just about to -45C, ridiculous.

asheville, nc : 32 F
almost cold enough to sleep in.
Just out of interest, how many of you Americans know how Celsius works as a temperature measuring gauge? I'm from the generation of Canadians that had to switch to using Celsius and the Metric System in school back in the mid 70's and as a result, I no longer understand properly cold weather measurements using Fahrenheit - we are in the middle. For example, I don't know how many kg's I weigh or how tall I am in metres. I do know hot weather Fahrenheit (although some younger Canadians don't know what 75 means), but -8 means little to to me other than it's cold in Minnesota.
Oh yeah, as an Ontario (Toronto) resident, I'm shocked at how cold it is where K lives (in Saskatchewan); I've never been exposed to that kind of cold - not even close. Right now its -4 in Toronto Celsius and it will drop to -12 tonight, which is around 10 Farenheit. Tonight will be the coldest its been all winter, so far.
ha jaimoe i don't know celsius at all. most banks that show the time and temperate here, also show it in celsius. thats as much as i know about that. when K put his temp. i had to use this website.
it did get down to -11F last night

my roommate was watching something about a basketball team in northern Canada. i guess it gets so cold that they get bloody noses frequently. also something about their car tires get square or something when left in the cold? does it get that cold K?
Quotemy roommate was watching something about a basketball team in northern Canada. i guess it gets so cold that they get bloody noses frequently. does it get that cold K?
Don't forget "northern" Canada means nothing to Canadians since it's such a vast country. The North Pole is in Canada. However, K lives in the mid to northern part of the Prairie Provinces (Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta) and it gets fucking cold there - with the wind whipping across the flat landscape doesn't help, but at least it's a dry cold ;) It would take me three to four days to drive to where K lives (from Toronto driving north for a day or two and then crossing into Manitoba and then driving through that province to Saskatchewan).
BTW, Celcius is really easy. 0 Celcius (32F) is freezing, anything below is below freezing (obviously). You can almost double all temps and add 30 to get a rough C to F conversion... at least that's what Bob and Doug MacKenzie said on SCTV.
Here's a conversion monitor. It helps a lot: http://www.stabb.com/tools/convert.html

9 degrees in asheville.

America was supposed to switch over in the 70's too, but it never happened. I think it's b/c all the sports analogies would be irrelevant (ie, 4th and millimeters just ain't the same as 4th and inches).
I remember Metric Man coming and talking to us. He scared the hell out of me.

Metric Man wasn't so scary; he was just more accurate. Anyway, pro sports will never make the switch to metric. I should know being a BIG sports fan living in the metric north. The Canadian Football League's field is in yards (although it's a wider and longer field) and everything is measured in inches and feet. The Toronto Blue Jays measure everything in feet and inches. Hockey is measured in feet and inches too and ALL the broadcasters north of our border don't use metric when describing games, including height and weight. Now, Canadians don't use miles or gallons as measurement anymore, and that's a good thing.
Here he is (only picture I could find - not sure what the military has to do with any of this). We upper mexicans use the metric system for one thing and one thing only - the sale of cocaine. The Canadian hybrid system is even worse.
Officially, the US, Liberia (in western Africa) and Burma (also known as Myanmar, in Southeast Asia) are the only three countries that haven't made the switch to metric. Nice grouping.
West side Chicago : 8 farenheit, -6 windchill.
I think celsius is farenhiet x 3/5 + 32 or something.
Chicago western Burbs - 15c 8-)
Currently it's -8C in downtown Toronto. Overnight it will drop to -11, but there's virtually no wind-chill tonight. Today was actually a really pleasant winter day with brilliant sunlight.

I mean no disrespect with my earlier metric comments being more efficient. Metric is the more accurate measurement, by far actually. However, I'll never switch to metres when measuring height (of a person) and kilograms when measuring body-weight. I also like the power of having a 100 mph fastball. I also didn't like having to live in a non-airconditioned apartment last summer with temperatures often in the high 90's F (I live in a pre-metric building) not including humidity.

I believe track & field in the U.S. at higher levels has converted to metric, or at least is comfortable using it. The 100, 200, 400, 1500, 3000 etc... are all in metres as far as I know. There's no hope for the long-jump.

Currently it's -10C in the downtown of Tranna (Toronto), but it's supposed to warm up to -4 by the afternoon, and sunny to boot.

It certainly exists, however it's always cold in the Prairie Provinces. It was 8C yesterday in Toronto. It's been a really mild winter, although your cold weather has hit Central US and Ontario, although the cold isn't as extreme: -8C with wind warnings.
yesterday 44 F in the am then down to -14 and windy. wierd.

I don't know the exact numbers, but in recent days in St. Johns, Michigan, I think it's been hovering somewhere just above absolute zero. Today it's up to 27 (feels like, thus actually is, 14) and it feels like a heat wave. Yep, can't wait to move south where it's regular cold and not super cold.

As I write, there's a rather large power-outage in Toronto at the height of the coldest stretch of weather this city's felt in 4 years. Since last night, 50,000 residents are without power and the temperature has hovered around -19C (-2F) with wind-chills reaching -30C (-20F). Not only that, but the subway in that part of town isn't running.

haha, totally! coffee and tea tastes great during canadian winters. by the way, we've had one day below -50, it was horrendous, and there's likely a few more to come before spring shows its face.

In my part of Canada, when I hear about the frigid weather where K is from, I can only just shake my head. Nothing beats the cold (not including the Northwest Territories, Nunavut and the Yukon) of the Canadian Prairie provinces (Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta).
It's relatively warm in Toronto today by comparison: -16C (3F).
i'm pretty much used to the cold by now. kinda have to be to function. i actually lived in northern manitoba (thompson) for a few years and it was even colder - constantly the low spot of the province. i actually don't know how i'd do a winter without the bone-chill.
it's seriously like the surface of the sun here at the moment - third day of 43+ C temperatures, not been below 37 most of this week, not going below 30 til god knows when. apparently this is the hottest period of consecutive weather we've had for either 70 or 100 years, depending on who you listen to
whatever, it's SO GOD DAMN HOT
It's March, right? WHY IS THE TEMPERATURE STILL IN THE NEGATIVE DOUBLE DIGITS? I want to buy a new bicycle and be able to ride it to work and school, damn it.
It's 74 here. That's 24C. Sorry, K. I couldn't live like that!
84 and hardly no winds here in the breezy state of oklahoma. was a beautiful day to swing the sticks
It's been in the 60's the past few days here (MN). Got outside to play a little 3-on-3. Yeah, I brought the soul to the hole. But now it's going back down to the 40's, and I'm sure it will get even colder.
