Title: Canadian Roadtrip
Post by: Bumbeli on Apr 16, 2009, 04:41 PM
So, me and a friend of mine are planning on going to Canada in august, starting in Calgary and then driving to Vancouver.
We would like to see the national parks near calgary, jaspen and banff, and then go south towards Vancouver. I'd like to know if someone could tell me if there are must-go places on the road, if Calgary is worth spending more than 2 days there and what you think about Vancouver.

Also, is eastern oder western canada a better destination?

That sounds awesome!   My only advice is to tell you that the speed limit signs say 100 KILOMETERS per hour not 100 miles per hour.

I wouldn't spend more than two days in Calgary it's cool 8-) and all but so much else to see.  :D From Calgary go to Banff ,make sure you go to Lake Louise on your way to Jasper .There a lots of lakes and parks along the way. I would go NW to Prince George Then S to Vanc. making sure to hit Whistler on the way, then go to the Island. you'll have a great time :D

Shouldn't be a problem, we're europeans :)

I'm definitly going to check out how those places you mentioned fit into our schedule. And I'm really looking forward to our trip, have been wanting to go to canada for some time now, and this year it's finally happening.
How about going out in Vancouver (We're 20/21 years old)

€:We'd also like to go see a baseball/ice hockey/football game in vancouver, which team's are to prefer?

You must go to Vancouver Island and when there, go to lovely Victoria. It's a wonderful town. Calgary is a city in transition, but it would be cool to be there for a day. Banff, Jasper and Lake Louise are all must-sees. Vancouver is a thriving city. Oh yeah, Canada isn't dangerous so don't worry about walking around in the city centres (Canadian spelling).

I would avoid Canada at all costs.  A. It is a very dirty place.  B. The people are angry and well-armed.  C. The people are smelly.  A trip to say, Florida would be a better option.  Start in Jacksonville and work your way down to Pahokee.  Do it in August.  You'll love it.

(Uh, Vancouver is like heaven on Earth, but if I had my choice I'd go to Halifax, Nova Scotia and never leave.)

Halifax (and Cape Breton Island), PEI and Newfoundland. Love those places, and the people (most are armed with Moosehead). I like New Brunswick too. The
