ever
I hate texting, can they make the keypads any smaller. It takes me 5 times longer to text than it does to make the friggin call and finish a conversation by voice. My 12 year old just got a cell phone a couple months ago and we had her texting function blocked. She did talk us into getting unlimited texting on our package. I can't wait to see how many texts she has made. If she has over 1000 texts I might have to cut her thumbs off ;).
But do you facebook ?

:o :o :o... $ 4700.00 So she is grounded until the end of the school year or until she graduates from college ? If it were my daughter her cell phone days would be over, I would make her use 2 soup cans and a string to talk to her peeps.
I used to text a lot when I was younger, around 200-300 per month, that has been reduced to about 30 per week, and about 20 of them are sent when going out.
I do find Facebook surprisingly amusing I have to admit, there are some funny browsergames on there (i.e. Mafia Wars) and loads of people I know I don't ever have contact with except for facebook.

I can't find you.
Texting sucks, I hate it. Unfortunately I need to do it to keep in touch with my daughter.
You can block it all you want and try to prevent them from doing it but they will find another way.
All my friends say the same thing, they ( the kids) DO NOT pick up the phone.
Different times. [smiley=undecided.gif]
I think I have everyone beat. I don't text, I'm not on Facebook or MySpace, and I don't even own a cell phone.

so many people are obsessed w/mafia wars. some of my friends are not leaving their houses now
Until 'text' is referred to in Webster's Dictionary as a verb, I refuse to have the conversation. :-X
My ex ended things with me via text message - odd part, we lived together at the time

That's a little bit crazy, especially as all you really do is wait. I don't want to know what would happen if you gave them something like World of Warcraft to play, where you can actually do something without purpose when waiting, on Mafia Wars all you can do is stare at the countdown.

As if getting broken up with on text isn't "odd" enough.
I love it and use it daily...

I personally think texting is stupid and very annoying. I can't stand when you are hanging out with someone and they're texting with someone else; or when the clerk at the check out counter is texting when they should be working. I know it's a great way to communicate, but when is it going to stop. Next thing you know people will be sexting...that's right...people have sex with each other using their texting devices. I'm sure this already goes on. Then everyone will have blisters on their thumbs, and no one wants that.

nothing like that here in 1970

Yes, I do remember that...and they eventually turned into calluses
I dont have an NES anymore, but I still rock the SNES and N64 on the regular.
I even have a backup SNES ;D
and?????
Definitely wore a hole in my thumb with Zelda: Majora's Mask back in middle school. So far to run with that little joystick held forward for so long. There's only so much one boy can take!
Texting is a great tool, but I've had it be a big nuisance and communication inhibitor when employed too often within a relational context. My constant whereabouts/goings-on are not really a necessary, and it takes the fun out of talking later, because the small joys of daily life can certainly be sapped when they're being immediately reported on. I'm very much enjoying being in a relationship where text messages are a nice little surprise, the proverbial "note in the lunchbox" and don't necessarily require a response.
