Yes! Thursday morning will start with Bacon, Eggs, Guinness. Lunch and Dinner will be Turkey, stuffing, more turkey, Guinness, mashed taters, more Guinness, and lots of desserts. I've run at least 5 miles every day for the past week to get in shape for this.
Yes, it is my favorite holiday!

It is a wonderful holiday!! I hope all that working out makes the day guilt-free. :)
Happy Thanksgiving everyone, and a belated happy Thanksgving to the Canucks! Hope everyone gets their eat on. I know I will!
Cheers! I'm thankful for my Friends, Family, Girlfriend and the 2 Dinners I'm going to eat on Thursday. And Brothers Past tomorrow night at the River St. Jazz Cafe.
Being British I don't know much about ThanksGiving but I did appreciate the shopping day soon afterwards where everything was mad cheap on amazon.com...but I'm not currently buying CDs/DVDs so it sucks for me this year ;)
Happy ThanksGiving! Have a good one septics!! :)

I'd never heard septic used in this context, so I googled it. From the Urban dictionary:
QuoteCockney ryhming slang for a yank (american). The whole phrase is 'Septic Tank' - but as with most cockney ryhming slang the first word is used only. The reason for the link is that, like a septic tank nobody likes a filthy stinking american!!!
Happy Thanksgiving, fellow Septics! I'll be cooking and baking all day. I have a large crooked neck pumpkin I'm going to puree and then it's on. Today I'm busting out two pumpkin pies, candied yams, pumpkin butter, pumpkin bread, and a pasta dish with sausage and pumpkin for dinner tonight. I'll probably have some pumpkin puree leftover which I will freeze for later. Everything from scratch, including the pie crusts and whipped cream for the pies. Then I'm showing up at my sister's house early tomorrow to help her out. This year I'm definitely more into the cooking than the eating.

Not sure about that 'no one likes a filthy stinking American' bit, never heard that before & certainly didn't mean it like that...it's just cockney ryhming slang for American. The two things aren't related in anyway (apples & pears have nothing to do with stairs, dogs & bones have nothing to do with phones, septic tanks have nothing to do with Yanks - it just ryhmes)
Hope I didn't offend you aMD (or anyone else)
Hope you have a good one US citizens! :)

This sounds frickin' awesome! I'm assuming you grew your pumpkins also?
Unfortunately, in my 1st generation American family, I'm the only one that likes to eat traditional American Thanksgiving fare and am always vetoed, even if I offer to cook. Therefore, we will be eating Indian food as usual.
D'boy...I think calling us septics seems contrary to the spirit of Thanksgiving ;D ;)
It takes a lot more than that to offend me, DB. That definition seemed a little harsh, I thought I'd see what you meant by it. Cheers!
Ruckus, unfortunately I don't have room to grow pumpkins in my current, small, suburban yard. I got the pumpkin from the farmer's market.
May your turkey's be moist and your stuffing fluffy.
hope everyone has a safe and wonderful holiday!
:)
Oh, and the Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies! Some of the peeps here have tried those. :)
Ummm, I think I want to celebrate with aMD. :)
Happy Thanksgiving, y'all!
And Ruckus, my family has been here forever (actually have some Native American roots) and we eat some traditional T-day stuff, but really it winds up being a lot of our favorite foods. I think, as long as you're thankful, it counts. :) Enjoy!

Oh, I'm looking forward to it. It is my favorite meal my dad cooks. Authentic Southern Indian....Idlis, Dosas, Sambar, Tomato Chutney, Coconut Chutney...mmmmm

Ooooooh....that sounds good too!
I think I'm only making one dish this year: baked butternut squash topped with pecan pesto (pecans, parmesan, garlic and olive oil) and baked until the topping is browned and crunchy.
The most wonderful day of the year...Family, Food, and Football. Cant ask for more.
Happy Turkey Day yinz all!

Those WERE delicious... :)
We are taking Polish mistakes, shrimp cocktail, seven layer salad, and gooey butter cake...
The only thing I'm making is my pumpkin ale...if it turned out!!! I'll know tomorrow!!! Happy Turkey Day everyone :)
BE SAFE. NO DRINKING AND DRIVING!
I am saying this partially to talk myself into not doing it...
Cheers!
Besides the delicious and JUICY Turkey, apple & sausage stuffing, sweet potatoes, homemade rolls, homemade (and beyond decadent) mashed potatoes, GRAVY (one of my contributions and I make it from a medium roux), green bean casserole, pumpkin cranberry pie (my other contribution), I have the following now chilling waiting for me:
Bells: Two Hearted Ale, Expedition and Kalaamazoo Stoutes, Best Brown Ale, Christmas Ale
Founders Breakfast Stout
Laguantis Cappuccino Stout
Sierra Nevada- Torpedo
It's gonna be a good day!

Happy Thanksgiving! Safe travels if you're traveling and full bellies for you all!
We don't do turkey, so I'm preparing a Crown Roast of Pork with Bread and Onion stuffing, Gratin of Brussels Sprouts & Cauliflower with Pine Nut topping, Sweet Potato Casserole, Cranberry Sauce layered with cream cheese and pecans and Yeast Rolls. I might throw some mashed Yukon Golds in for good measure. :) For dessert? Apple and Cranberry Galette.
Tonight, I'll be enjoying Stilton and a Brooklyn Chocolate Stout or two.
your menus all sound fantastic!
have a fantastic weekend everyone! i'm gonna get a hike in early in the day then settle in for the evening with some friends hosting their annual "for those not travelling" feast and swim.
good travels, all! [smiley=beer.gif]

*throwing up the version from 1980....time to get down and celebrate our blessings!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone! My family tossed out the old traditional home-cooked meal years ago (my Mom got tired of cooking multiple dinners to satisfy the omnivores, pescatarians and vegans....bless her soul for doing it for so many years). We go out to eat, usually in Park City. But this year my folks are coming out here since me, my husband, and sis are all in Portland. We get to hang with Murphy (their new chocolate lab pup), take the whole dog pack (5 dogs total) on a hike and then head to Jake's for a fabulous dinner filled with seafood delights and turkey for those who indulge! Everyone's plans sound delish and fun! Cheers to you all!
Hope everyone has a happy & safe day!
Happy Thanksgiving!!!!
:)
Good to see all of the food offerings and that mjk finally latched onto some Torpedo! Just put some in to chill...Have a GREAT day everyone... :)
