It's going to happen this year, the next year, and the following years. It's tradition!  8-)

Ruck, did people pay up from last year?

Yes sir.  Everyone was totally cool with paying up.   :)

I'm glad everyone payed up. We can play for 20 again. I know The Junk is out for this season. Headdy should join up. That or anyone else that's into baseball.

RC, it doesn't take too much time.  The draft is an hour or two.  After that you just have to update your roster twice a week or so which doesn't take more than 15 minutes.  Or you can check it everyday for 5 minutes.  You can put more time in it and obsess over it but that won't necessarily translate into more wins.

It'd be nice to get 10 in the league this time.

I'm down for $20 again, especially since everyone paid up.

Count me in too, if there's room.

It would be nice to have more people this year, that way every team is not just loaded with allstars.  Although it seemed like the group last year stayed involved until the very end.

I'm in for it again this year, guys, $20 is cool with me too.  Haven't been around here much at all lately, although loving that the guys will be playing fairly close to me on May 2!  Pretty sure the wife and I will be there, but haven't made arrangements for the kids yet.

ok I'm in....I guess we will get a pm from someone about a draft / sign up date. 20 $ is ok as well...count me as signed in...anywhere I can go to help me understand the rules of the fantasy league. For instance how do you score or win or collect points....never palyed ANY fantasy league ANYTHING...total noob....you guys sure you dont want someone  with a little more experience ?

We've gotta beat up on somebody!   ;)

There's really not that much to it.  ESPN has good fantasy draft information, if you want just general rules/scoring information go to yahoo fantasy help and look at their FAQs, they're pretty informative and we use yahoo so that's a good place to start.

If we only have 8teams this year, we can add a few more roster slots. I was thinking about changing Innings Pitched, because in my money league people didn't like it. Dylan probably remembers that controversy.

Don't worry about it. You'll get the hang of it. I'll help you out as much as I can, because I would hate for anyone to start with a disadvantage.

You battle your weekly opponent over stats. Like Homeruns, RBI's, Total Bases, Batting Average..etc for hitters. Wins, K's, Saves...etc for pitchers. You shouldn't have problem.

I agree with this.  It would be great if we could get at least 10 if not 12.

I would like 10 or 12 too. If we only get 8, I'll expand the roster size. Ruck, don't act like you didn't like having a stack team. You got paid, son!

Ha, you got it brother. Homersota?

My favorite sports radio guy is holding a Preposterous Statements tournament. The statements are mostly from local sports reporters, radio personalities, and players about Minnesota teams or players from 2009. There's some national guys that have some preposterous statements. I've been having problems being able to bring up the page, but when I do I'll post it. Not sure where to actually post it. Baseball thread, hockey thread, or other sports thread? Some are almost too good to be true.

Here's a couple...
Mark "Mad-dog" Madsen on new T-Wolves coach Kevin McHale: "McHale's coaching style reminds me a little bit of my first coach and NBA mentor, Phil Jackson"

Sid Hartman: "The Gophers men's basketball team is having trouble signing top recruits because we already have too many good players."

Thanks for setting up the league, Walt.  My buddy wants to know if we can push the draft time back an hour though.  Either way works for me.

Of course there's room.

AMD, I'll change the draft time. No problem there.

Thanks, Walt.  And I forgot to mention: you prolly oughta put a note up there about the 20 bucks gentlemen's wager, if we still want to do that so everyone's clear.

Walt, thanks for getting everything set up.

BUMP!

Looks like we're looking for 1 or 3 more.  Who's down?

Headdy better step up to the plate ASAP.  No more of this I don't do baseball crap.   >:(
Title: Re: Fantasy Baseball???
Post by: .Walt on Mar 11, 2010, 06:27 PM
I talked to Headdy about it. He'd be in, but wouldn't pay. So if he finished 1st he wouldn't collect, and the team that got second would get the 1st place money. I thought the big chicken was going to be in?

Is there anybody out there? (Jaimoe, Taterbug, Jellyfish)

BUMP #2!

We're three days away from the draft and we need at least one more team.  Come on, somebody out there fill our league!
Title: Re: Fantasy Baseball???
Post by: .Walt on Mar 18, 2010, 04:07 AM
Hey D, is there anyway on moving the draft time to a half hour earlier. I forgot I'm in a basketball league on Sundays. I know Rich wanted it later. But if we can't get anyone, maybe bump it a week later?
Title: Re: Fantasy Baseball???
Post by: aMillionDreams on Mar 18, 2010, 12:02 PM
Moving it up a half hour should be fine, just let me know so I can let him know.  I can't believe we can't get one more person!
Title: Re: Fantasy Baseball???
Post by: wharf rat on Mar 18, 2010, 12:15 PM
Just something to think about, for all the March Madness heads.  Can we move it back to something like 7 or 8 that evening?  Tourney games should be over by then.  I'm in it either way, just kind of thinking out loud here.  And if we can't find one more team, is it even worth it?
Title: Re: Fantasy Baseball???
Post by: aMillionDreams on Mar 18, 2010, 04:50 PM
We'll find someone.  Headdy will do it if we can't find someone else.
Title: Re: Fantasy Baseball???

We could make it a free league.

I actually prefer about 7 as well, but should be able to make either way.

The problem is we can't draft with seven, we have to have an even number, but I think 8's a good number.  We had a great competitive league last year with 8.  Let's just let Headdy in for free and he won't be able to collect if he wins.

First off, we can always play Roto, how I usually play.  2nd, I'll front Headdy if that's what it takes.  Let's play boyz

Headdy?
Title: Re: Fantasy Baseball???
Post by: .Walt on Mar 20, 2010, 10:39 PM
FYI the draft is at 4 central now, not 4:30. If Headdy doesn't show up, we'll do rotisserie. It seems like a perfect solution. I'll add a few roster spot, s]Sunday afternoon if Headdy hasn't joined.

Remember it starts at 4Central everyone. Don't be late.

No worries.  For me the baseball season doesn't start until the first pitch in Cincinnati anyway.   ;)

Looking to trade. I'd trade pitching for hitting. Ruckus, how big is your mancrush on Ubaldo? He's the number 1 ranked player, player.
