Anyone get the new Conor Oberst solo (ie- minus Mike Mogus) album. I picked it up the other day, and I fell in love with it from the first listen. It was recorded south of Mexico City in the shadows of an Aztec temple at a converted bungalow called Valle Mystico. This gave the new band their name (Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band).
This was also the first album Oberst produced sine the early 90s (Mogus has produced the rest of the Bright Eyes albums). Although it follows the progression of Im Wide Awake and Cassadaga it is distinctly different. Gone are the larger arrangments. Less is definitely more. It definitely has an earnest, rustic feel to it. Highly recommended.
see the thread below---i was wondering if anyone picked this up? huge fan of wide awake so i ll probably pick this up=thanks
