Someone please give me some recommendations. Since Evil Urges has been on my player for so long I can't seem to find anything that lives up to it!
It's gotta have a groove!!!
Give us something to work with - what were the three albums you were listening to most pre-EU? And three all-time favourites.
and what music do you not like?

Sorry.....music I hate is usually UK indie shit e.g.:
Coldplay
Kaiser Chiefs
Razorlight etc.
Re-listened to Kings Of Leon's debut album and was amazed at how bad it was!
Hate The Rolling Stones.......which reminds me that I bought The Deadstring Brothers on a recommendation, and it was like a Stones tribute act!

Hey Paulie W, looks like you're a fan of country/roots/rock?
Are you a Drive By Truckers fan? Ryan Adams? Wilco? Fleet Foxes? Black Crowes? Ryan Bingham?
Looking @ your list I'm pretty sure you'd like most of those artists...
totally agree with dragonboy wilco ryan adams/whiskeytown maybe try some flaming lips or old midest mouse if you want something a little bit out there
That's why I didn't want to list my likes!
Drive By Truckers, Whiskeytown etc.......I like most of those you mention.
But I'm getting bored with it.
Is there anything that gets close to MMJ's latest out there?
How about this as a starting point?
I need rock music that you can dance to!!

You actually want music that sounds like another band? I think the main reason why I don't like Band of Horses and Fleet Foxes is that they sound a little too much like MMJ for my liking. It's distracting, but many folks seem to like these bands. A band that has elements of MMJ but can rock it out like Live at Leeds with some nice southern tinges is The Whigs.
An artist worth seeking out is M. Ward. He approaches folk and roots music on an interesting angle.
M Ward's 'Post War' is on it's way to me now. I'll let you know what I think.

The Black Crowes make me want to 'Shake My Money Maker' ;)
The Hold Steady make me want to dance sometimes...
Creedence?
Hmm...might be easier to recommend soul music that rocks?
The Roots are @ the top of their game IMO. Game Theory & Rising Down are both a fantastic melting pot of hip-hop, soul & rock.
John Legend? Maxwell? D'Angleo?
Do you have all the Soul Classics you need by the likes of Otis Redding? James Brown? Aretha Franklin? etc etc etc
James
Morcheeba
VHS Or Beta
I think you should go after The Black Keys for starters... cannot say enough good things about this band. Also a band that I just got into called Dead Confederate, really liking what I am hearing from them so far. Also another band not many people here I have seen talk about but I happen to think are a pretty cool group is Tea Leaf Green... they are more jam-band type, but I like them too.
Black Keys
Dead Confederate

And of course... you can NEVER... EVER go wrong with the mighty Gov't Mule. Warren Haynes is a God.
