Pearl Jam Live at the Garden
Pearl Jam Live at the Garden
Yes, this DVD rocks as well as the actually show itself. I was hoping they would release both nights at the Garden because the second night was amazing as well.
Glad I was there to witness those shows.

Sorry Neil Young Fans but Live Rust kicks much better than Weld
Ramones- It's Alive
MC5-Kick out the Jams
neil - live rust, weld, and year of the horse
u2 - for someone who really doesn't get the U2 hype, the slane castle dvd is moving
mmj - live in toronto 2004 (but keep it on the downlow, it's not exactly an "official" release...)

Forgot about Folsom Prison! Good Call True!
The Radiohead DVD that was just put out is awsome, I think its London '94 during the Bends tour. Radiohead before they were Radiohead, they still had something to prove and hot damn if they didn't prove it.
But in all honesty my favorite DVD is a David Gilmour DVD, I think its from the Royal Albert Hall in either '02 or '03. That man can play a mean guitar!
I'm gonna 2nd Spiritualized's Live at ROyal Albert Hall. The 1st 4 tracks are purr bliss. Honestly, they could have farted into the mic for 1.5 hours after the 1st 4 tracks, and I'd still love this cd.
What else.....
Greatful Dead's Reckoning
King Diamond's In Concert 1987: Abigail
Bobby Conn's Live Classics Vol.1
Janes Addiction XXX album
The Coctails Live At Lounge Ax
As for videos
Sonic Youth's 1991: The Year Punk Broke
THe MMJ DVD - I KNOW it will be tops on my list
Wilco's I'm trying To break Your Heart - I know its not a LIVE DVD but still is anamazing film
Can't think of anything else right now.

that is really funny. i was just planning to go back through this thread just to make sure i mentioned my ultimate love for spiritualized and see if i had missed anyone's agreement, so PapaJoeBear you're fantabulous. this album sounds amazing no matter what state of mind, situation, etc. i got it when it first came out back in my stoner days, and it sounds just as good today with me being clean and sober. in fact, im not sure i could handle listening to it fucked up anymore. there are rumours from the former band members that jason fucked around with the recording in studio after it was recorded, i dont really think so. this is the sound of a perfect band playing perfect songs. its not for the faint of heart though, it goes up and down in emotion, but never levels off in intensity.
Yeah, that cd was myh 2nd Siritualized cd. I had already had Ladies and Gentlemen We are Now Floating In Space. I was heavily into the jam scene at the time, and didn't know what to expect. I was also heavily into ecstacy back then. I think te 1st time I heard it Ilistened to it I was coming down pretty hard after a pretty strong roll. This cd made me start rolling again. Even now, many years removed from my drug days, when I listen to I feel like I dropped 3 pills of double stacked Mitsubishi's. Mind melting, to say the least.
Manic Street Preachers - Everything Live (on video)
U2 - U2 Go Home (live at slane castle)
Doves - Where We're Calling From (has great footage of their concert at Eden - glowing bio-domes in the background... magical!)
Dvds i'd love to have:
Pink Floyd - Live @ Pompeii
Led Zep - box set that came out 2003 - knebworth & earl's court footage v cool
MMJ - Live at filmore...
Manic Street Preachers - Louder than war

Yer that's a great DVD. The Eden project looks amazing doesn't it?
One the British newspapers described seeing a gig at Eden as the closest any of us will ever get to seeing a gig on the moon :)
DVDs:
Live Rust
Ziggy Stardust
Last Waltz
Ween, Live in Chicago
Stop Making Sense
WE DEY! Whatsup fast willie.
A friend lent me Gimme Shelter and I'm about to give it a watch. Can't wait.

Live at Pompeii
Albums:
Wilco - Kicking Television
Pantera - Official Live: 101 Proof
Lamb of God - Killadelphia
DVDs:
Lamb of God - Killadelphia - Probably the best music dvd I own. In between lots of the songs, it has parts of a tour documentary. But it also gives you the option of just watching the concert. The whole thing just flows really well. I'd recommend it for any fan of heavy metal.
Hell yeah! 101 proof is the naz! >:(
The Clash - Live At Shea Stadium
Neko Case - Live From Austin TX (DVD)
Johnny Cash - Live From Austin, TX (DVD)
The complete Monterey pop (DVD).
Including the complete sets by Otis Redding and Jimi Hendrix. It's pretty cool to have some live footage of some artists of which so little material exists (at least from that period), like the Buffalo Springfield. 8-)

[smiley=thumbsup.gif]
Wilco's I'm Going To Break Your Heart DVD and Dylan's Don't Look Back...and the Last Waltz...probably my top 3. Neil Young and Crazy Horse Live Rust will always be my favorite live album.
QuoteA friend lent me Gimme Shelter and I'm about to give it a watch. Can't wait.
One of the great docs, period.
BTW, SCTV did an incredible parody of Gimme Shelter back in the 80's. Instead of being about The Stones at Altamont, the SCTV skit was about Martin Short's albino lounge singer Jackie Rogers Jr. Get this, instead of using Hell's Angels as security, Jackie used Shiners. Jackie mimicked Mick throughout the ongoing skit too and ended up doing a lie-detector test with F. Lee Bailey regarding his sexuality.

Watched this on TV a few weeks ago, simply incredible.

Started watching The Beatles Anthology again last night, first time on DVD...the sound is incredible!
DVD:
Pearl Jam - Immagine in Cornice. Phenomenal!!! Watched it again last night. Am a die hard PJ fan and this is, IMO, by far their best. Totally captured their live experience and made my jones hard for a PJ show (and to go back to Italy)!!!
Why Live Albums Rule!
Excitement, hits, bum notes, heckling: the spirit of rock'n'roll is alive and well in the grooves of the live album, says MOJO's Stevie Chick:

Live in the UK I think it's called. It's the only video I have ever found with the yodel song.

I saw Dr Hook on NYE once long ago at Sacramento's Alhambra Theatre when they wanted to save the Golden Age movie palace from the wrecking ball. Seems our city wanted a Safeway not a rock venue. We lost that one. Still won't go to that store ;)
thanks for listening

Best Performance Ever!
Old Grey Whistle Test has some excellent vintage performances!
Lots of love for Dr. Hook - I've been listening to Dr. Hook, Sloppy 2nds & Belly Up! a lot recently.
