Anyone else really want to hear this? I thought the last album was a step in the right direction. This album has been buzzed as their return to form...any other Oasis fans here?
Yep. Love Oasis
...yeah, hopefully I get to see them this time on their tour for the record...
Huge Oasis fan, Have seen them every tour. I downloaded 'Falling Down' from the new cd, very cool Noel song, as expected kind of a Beatle-esque sound! Looking foward to 10/6!
By the way 2008 may be one of the best years for new cd's in a LONG time!!
Did anybody else hear about this?

oasis is one of my favorite bands--i've listened to the new single in itunes--i love it cuz noel's singing ;-) i'm kind of bummed they're playing here sat night (terminal 5 i think) and i can't go---(big footballlllll game)...but normally i would never miss them. i thought their last album was the best since be here now (which a lot of people don't like and they dismiss as their 'cocaine mess' album)---i used to go on oasisinet.com--how did you hear the album? i need to find out when it's out?
...yeah I did hear about that whole mess with Noel getting attacked, there are people actually claiming that the whole thing was a set up (for publicity, like they need it) which is bullshit (is that one of two words, both seem right now)....you don't purposely get sent to the hospital (he fell on his monitors and fucked up his ribs or something)...another bummer about the whole thing is that Paul Weller was supposed to come out and do something with the band but it got cut sort because of that dumb asshole, if I was there and I got shut out of a Weller/Oasis thing I would have been really pissed....
....they are playing at Terminal 5 this Friday and you had to e-mail oasis.net to get a code to get tickets just to be able to buy them...I actually got an e-mail back with a code and when I tried to buy them they were all sold out which is a bummer because that show would have kicked ass...everyone always talks shit about that venue but I think it is fine, not the greatest but not nearly as bad as people claim....
You can pre-order a Dig Out Your Soul Box set on thier site. I has 2 cd's, a dvd, 2 albums , and a book. I'll probably end up getting because I always get all their singles, some of their best stuff is b-sides.
I also got the link but couldn't get tix, they are going for like $900.00 on ebay!! Hope they play MSG again when they come back in the winter.

...I wonder how they are going to sell them on ebay because the tickets are will call and the whole point of doing it that way was to eliminate the whole selling them on ebay thing, I hope the people selling them get screwed out of their money and tickets and they learn a real good lesson about scalping...
...here is a weird thing I read about Oasis if anyone is in NYC on Friday...

The show is cancelled because of Noel's injury. The ebay listing I read said you had to meet up with the person(scalper) and walk into the show with them.... just show's they will always find a way to scalp tickets!!
that is awesome because i couldn't go anyway! wonder if they're going to reschedule...maybe i could sell a kidney or something...i can't miss a show that small--especially given the potential guests.

Album leaked.....Liam is giving Noel a run for his money in the songwriting department. "I'm Outta Time" is badass.

i'll have to hear that to believe it...remember 'Little James' ?? ha ha...still have nightmares about that song, although i think liam did write parts or all of columbia, which used to be one of their best live songs.
This one is more along the lines of "songbird" but with a "beatles" influence....imagine that!

songbird---completely forgot about that----!! i guess he did redeem himself. have you seen his new haircut? so bad...

the songs are great but just too long---'do you know what i mean' and 'stand by me' especially--there is only one song on there i didn't like (magic pie) noel always rips on this album in interviews--like he has to apologize for it or something---i was wrapped up in their b sides by this time, though
step out is great, i agree---so is listen up
I personally don't find the songs too long & I like Magic Pie :P ;)
I love everything about it! For me, it's an album full of overblown, excessive & self-indulgent masterpieces. It's the sound of a band drunk on their own success & (like you said) high on coke, with more money than sense & their head up their own arses! & that IMO, is what makes it so good!
Did you read that Noel has a solo album due later this year?

okay that is NOT funny---WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTT????!!! i've always said he should put out a solo album!! nah, i haven't read that yet.
I read it (I think) in this months Mojo or Uncut...I'm a tiny bit drunk right now but I'll see if I can't find what I read tomorrow :)
It was typical Noel...something like 'I've got 100's of songs to choose from & they're all fookin' great' ;D
Holy crap? SOLO?
Be Here Now - Do You Know What I mean is a great song.
"I'd like for us to do separate projects after this record," he told Blender Magazine. "We'd all have to agree on it, so it will probably never happen. I've got loads of new songs. Somewhat predictably, they're all brilliant," he adds.
Maybe I was wrong about it being this year, sorry :-[
QuoteHoly crap? SOLO?
Be Here Now - Do You Know What I mean is a great song.
D'You Know What I Mean is a classic opening track & I love the closer of All Around The World followed by It's Getting Better Man & then the Reprise.
What that the same interview where he compared being an American and being British and ripped on crackwhore...I mean Amy Winehouse? I was cracking up reading that bit. Something to the effect the Brits have bad teeth but loads better fashion and music.
Go to Branson, MO area. Modern dentistry has not really hit that area so it's not just a British thing.
I can't find where I read it...thinking about it Liam would probably never let him record a solo album.
I'm sure he'd 'leave the band' (again!) if Noel ever put out a solo album ;)
step off the train, i'm alone at dawn, back into the hole where i was born, the sun and sky never raised an eye to meeeaaaaayyyy--oh man, i need to add that song to my workout list now...
i just found out they're playing MSG on dec 17th w/ryan adams and i have an exam that night!! there's no way i'll get out in time. the test starts at 6:30 and goes for 3 hours. :'(
At least they are coming to your area. I don't think they'll come to St Louis. More then likely Chicago will be the closest. boo hoo.

Special Guest:
Ryan Adams & The Cardinals
Madison Square Garden • December 17
PRESALE: Tue., 9/30 at 10AM - Thur., 10/2 @ 10PM
USE CODE: SUPERNOVA
Just got back from the city, the Japanese version is already out. Nearly bought it (2 extra tracks) but decided it was 2 expensive.
3/5 in UNCUT magazine "The 1st half of Dig...may be the most thrilling half hour of music Oasis have mustered since their 2nd album"
I used the SUPERNOVA code to get my tix, I'm very happy Ryan Adams is opening, I thought that was going to be a west coast only thing.
Round Are Way is another of my favorite b-sides. I've always loved Noel's demo's on a couple of bootlegs I have. I agree that Liam will never let him do a solo album though, that could be the end of them, like what happened with the Kinks.
Has anyone read anywhere how long the DVD is that comes with the CD/DVD? I'm not too worried about the Shock Of The Lightening video/making of but would like to know how long the making of Dig Out Your Soul documentary is.
The CD/DVD package is quite a bit more expensive, still not sure which to buy...
28 minute documentary on the making of the album and a 24 page booklet.
CD/DVD it is then! Thanks very much :)

oh yes, i love round our way--especially the 'birds are mingin' part--i was like ...what the heck does THAT mean? i don't think i've ever heard that live, though.

Not suprised about Rolling Stone, I was shocked when they gave a positive review for the last cd!
3/5 in MOJO, UNCUT & Q
The album is great, this year's been a nice come back for "britpop" 8-)
It never really went away...in my mind.
I saw Oasis with The Black Crowes a couple years ago at Merriweather Post Pav. here in Columbia, Md. It was a good show. It was when Oasis wasn't playing "wonderwall" "live forever" and a couple other hits. I am going to the Dec. 20 show at The Patriot Center.
Mainly, well, 90% of the reason, is for The Cardinals. I like Oasis, but the last few albums haven't had any interest from me.
Hmmm...the show is curently the last on the tour...maybe the bust out "Wonderwall" together...Adams' style, since it's far better.
Oasis just knocked KOL off the no 1 spot in the UK ;-)
I really like the new album. Gave it a spin this AM at work. I like it better then Don't Believe The Truth.
QuoteI really like the new album. Gave it a spin this AM at work. I like it better then Don't Believe The Truth.
So do I, has a better flow to it, "The Turning" and "Falling Down" are my favs so far.
I see they are closing the shows with "I Am The Walrus" again!
Good Stuff
Really? Thats awesome.
i listened to the album a couple more times---i really like shock of the lightening and falling down---i think they are at their best when they just sound like oasis and don't try to do cross over (and keep up w/the times as they say?) i'm not so crazy about the other songs, but we'll see..it's growing on me.
i would LOVE to see them play slide away ---and for them to open w/acquiesce!!! (sigh)

Noel Gallagher is planning to take time out from Oasis to record a solo album.
Noel Gallagher wants to record a solo album this year.
The Oasis guitarist is planning to take a break from the group to concentrate on releasing his own material once they finish touring their 'Dig Out Your Soul' album.
He said: 'I've got a lot of songs lying around and some of them are really great. But they're not Oasis songs. They're going to sit there and do nothing, so hopefully at the end of this tour I'm going to go and do something for myself.'
Noel - who has said Oasis won't make another record for five years because he has grown frustrated with his singer sibling Liam - hopes the rest of the band also decide to pursue solo projects during the hiatus.
He added to Q magazine: 'It would be really interesting for fans of the band to see how each individual makes up the whole. I don't think it'll affect what Oasis do. Liam, on the other hand, will f***ing freak out.
'The last three albums have been three years in between, but I see it as likely to be longer this time. Even before the end of making each Oasis album, I've always started writing the next one, and I haven't this time. I don't want to force it.'
Oasis - also comprising guitarist Gem Archer, bass guitarist Andy Bell and drummer Chris Sharrock - are set to begin the UK leg of their tour on June 4 at Heaton Park,

AWESOME--i consider all the Bsides Noel's best solo work.
I was thinking the same thing, I always wanted a Noel solo album, or a official release of his demos. They are bickering in public again, Noel in interviews and Liam on Twitter! I think the "Wibbling Rivalry" is back.

They're going to sit there and do nothing, so hopefully at the end of this tour I'm going to go and do something for myself.'

i think they are just trying to stir up some attention because no one really cares about them anymore. I can't wait for a noel album, i agree, i've always wanted that. he'll probably have P weller and johnny marr play on it.
That's probably true, but it's always amusing when they fight...

I remember a number of years back they released like 45 minutes of audio of them yelling at each other. If I recall correctly it got pretty high up on the charts.

One concert videos I've seen had them backstage arguing forever about a Kinks b side....
Remember when they toured with the Black Crowes years ago... it was called "The Brotherly Love" Tour I think.

yes that was a weird tour! their audiences were a mix of rock/jam band fans and brit pop fans...just didn't mix too well although i loved them both. the other brothers band opened up for them, spacehog i think?
I had forgotten about Space Hog. I dug out my stub, 6/7/01...time flies!
In my row at Radio City we were the only people standing for the Crowes! The English people around us defiantly weren't in to them...
Just read a Warpaint live cd is coming out next week.

I've got a mike stand, I've got a mike stand, yeah. And I've got a mike stand, right, and that's what I'm about, right, what I'm into. I'm not going to fuck off because he thinks my views are fucking too outrageous or whatever. I've got my fuckin' vibe, and Igo to that mike stand, and I do my business. He stands fuckin' in his fuckin' corner, he does, he does his little riffs and his little dance - let him do that. McGuigan does his fuckin' bit, I'll do my bit, the drummer does their bit. And that's what it's all about. Five people, not one.
That reminds me of this speech from almost famous.
I work just as hard or harder than anybody on that stage. You know what I do? I connect. I get people off. I look for the guy who isn't getting off, and I make him get off. Actually, *that* you can print!

going old school w/married w/children! i love it. (liam knows what twitter is and i don't? wow, i am worse off than i thought)
not only does the singer from deer tick remind me of van morrison but at times, reminds me of noel singing.
Yes, married w/children. Now I can watch him and see how off I am when I play it.
Don't feel bad Penny, I don't get twitter either, at all, it's like reading text message where I'm missing most of the context.
I liked seeing Don't Go Away on the list...I know Noel sends out his tour diary through myspace, he said that someone types it out for him. I was surprised to see Liam on twitter he talks about his new clothing line a lot!
Twitter is good to have for sports and music updates, I follow a bunch of venues in NYC and get concert and ticket info.

is it faster than getting the email updates? i'm w/mjk, i don't get it either. my friends are always forwarding me twitter stuff but it's only 1 sentence of a message and nothing ever important.
married w/children is a little harder to play. one of their best songs..i also love listen up and good to be free.....whatever is one of their best, but i have a really cool noel version (from unplugged) and a liam version.
do you guys like 'sad song'? one of noel's prettiest songs.
i'll also give you props if you have a copy of bonehead's bank holiday? it took me a year to get a copy of that on a bootleg. it's pretty funny.
it's good for smaller places in willamsburg and the city but i use it more for sports stuff.
I do have a copy of "Bonehead's Bank Holiday" on a bootleg cd of M.G b sides, it also has "Fade Away" with Johnny Depp playing guitar. "Sad Song" is on my Japan copy of D.M with "Cloudburst", both fit perfectly.
I do like Sad Song. It's a nice break from the wall of sound.
Looks like Noel Gallagher was right when he told Q magazine (via ChartAttack) that his brother Liam "will f*cking freak out" at his hopes for every member of Oasis to record a solo record before the band's next release.
In a televised interview from Brazil (not sure of the interviewer's name at this time), Liam responded to Noel's plans to release a solo record. "I could do that, but I don't want to do that," he said. "I'm in Oasis, you know what I mean. If everyone starts going off doing solo records then you might as well just f*cking split the band up, you know what I mean. I'm part of a band and that's the way it is. If you go on going off doing solo records then there's no Oasis, you know what I mean. Someone's gotta be here keeping it together."
So Noel's 5-year hiatus plan could be a problem, but once again it's interesting to see how the Gallagher brothers only communicate with each other through interviews and the occasional tweet.
If the previous comment's aim wasn't pointed clearly enough at his brother, Liam gets more explicit at the end of the Q&A. When asked what the best and worst parts to being in Oasis were, he responded: "The best part is obviously the music, playing the gigs, meeting people from different parts of the world. All that stuff. That's good. The worst part is being in a band with your f*cking brother."

i get sick of liam. he's a moron. he is lucky he was born noel's brother. (sigh)
Maybe the time apart will be good for them, like the Black Crowes!
Gotta love the Gallaghers!
THE squabbling Gallagher brothers have found out how to tolerate each other on tour – they've gone mad for it on posh Mexican tequila.
Liam and Noel have stopped bickering after discovering luxury Gran Patrón tequila in South America.
The Oasis stars, currently on tour in Brazil, have become hooked on the £1,500-a-bottle spirit after realising they can sink dozens of shots without any ill-effects the next day.
A source said their discovery has forged a new bond between Liam, 36, and Noel, 41, who were getting to the usual "bickering stage" of the tour.
"You could say Patrón has saved the tour," our source said.
"Liam and Noel were getting to the stage where they were bickering like schoolgirls, as seems to happen on every tour.
"Liam was drinking with the band and Noel was trying to stay clear of him.
"Then they discovered Patrón and since then they haven't looked back. They can get through a bottle after a gig, have a laugh together and get up without a headache.
"It's amazing. They say it's like -nothing they've ever drunk before.
"They are becoming Patrón's biggest fans and have been seeking out ever more expensive bottles.
"Noel is worried he won't be able to get hold of any when the tour moves on to Manchester next month.
"He's already sounded out the crew about bringing a bottle each through duty-free."
The booze – an upmarket version of the standard £40 bottle – has cheered up Noel who just days before had a gloomy message on his blog.
He wrote: "We speak at bad times for the tour. We are a rudderless ship. And there's a f**king shitstorm on the horizon."
Liam hit back on the Twitter message site saying: "In Chile, Gem, Andy, Chris and J treated the lads to an impromptu gig in the bar. Amazing!
"Don't know what tour you're on R KID."
