So sorry, I misspelled Gideon. It's a lovely song. I will have it played at my funeral.

MMJ is like that one great love of your life.You will NEVER tire of a single song in their library and you'll discover new things to love about the band in every note.
Run Thru-It will make you fall in love again then it will pull the rug out from under you,but in a good way.
They had me by the end of the first song I ever heard-Mahgeeta from ISM...
this is a band you will only fall deeper and deeper in love with.
the first MMJ song i ever heard was i will be there when you die...i had to keep turning it up...thinking WHAT IS THISSSS???? been hooked ever since.
Z has taken over ISM as my favorite MMJ album; the songs are just too good live;

The first song I ever heard, well I couldn't tell you. I can tell you it was most likely off Tennessee Fire. I heard it while in high school, which was the late 90s. It was on 105.5 WDHA and it was a request from someone asking to play this crazy new band they heard called "My Morning Jacket". I remember hearing it and thinking "this is great" but not being able to find it anywhere locally, so I gave up on it.
The first MMJ song I heard was either the cover of "Rocket Man" on the tv series Californication, "Off the Record" on How I met your mother or the cover of The Who's "A quick one while he's away" on the Pearl Jam "Immagine in Cornice" DVD. Couldn't really relate anything to the Jacket back then. When I was working at my father's chancery I was listening to music all day long, and during the first week I went to buy some new stuff. I saw Okonokos and as the name was familiar with me, I bought it. It was probably Mahgeetah that got me really hooked.
I was hooked by Wordless Chorus- Golden reeled me in for the long haul though
Z was the first album i heard and by the end of wordless chorus i was hooked, all that shouting and hollering reminded me of The Great Gig in the Sky.
"Where To Begin" was the first song I heard, from the Elizabethtown soundtrack. I had one of those "Wow, I know I will love this band moment's". Bought "Z" the next day!

I'm pretty sure that is exactly what happened to me. Golden=hook, line and sinker! There was something about the beat at the beginning of WC that was like a deep beating heart or something. Plus, the title "Wordless Chorus" intrigued me as it does in fact have a gorgeous wordless chorus.
I bought Z and Okonokos listened a few times and bought everything else. ;)
mahgeetah was my first song, i remember pretty clearly how struck i was the first listen. a friend gave me it still moves when it came out and told me how good this band my morning jacket was. a few weeks later my boyfriend and i flew to oregon to see our best friends who had just moved there and we couldn't stop listening to it. on the flight we rotated the discman (ha) back and forth, playing it over and over. once we got there we gushed about it to our friends, making them play it in the car wherever we went.
Saw the making of Z on demand before Bonnaroo.. I watched it twice at my buddies because i felt like I had heard all the songs before and already loved them... Went out the next day and got Z.. Saw them at Bonnaroo 06 and i now have everything..
