Carl is playing the first slot of the night at the Hotel Cafe in Hollywood. this is a rad small venue similar to Joe's Pub, not far from Amoeba Records. Not all of the shows offer advance tix; at this point Carl's show is still listed as not having tix for sale. this means you line up the night of the show and hope to get in.
i start working on a tv pilot in a couple weeks that will have nutty hours. i am already getting an anxiety produced cramp about being able to make this show.
mmj/hotel cafe fun fact: chiefokonokos hosted an okonokos listening party in their bar.
Fun fact! Hope you get to see the show!
Thank you fellow Angelino my calender is now marked!
thanks, trish!
tube top, have you been to a show at h.c?
hotel cafe is now selling tix for carl's show:

this removes the "wait in line to see if i can get in" tension out of this.
step one: check!
now to get off work in time to make it to this show...
You can do it Miss Y! Plus, I want a review from both you and Miss My Morning Tube Top. :)

Hey Ms. Yvon,
I have seen shows at H.C. I use to go when it was such a tiny little stage in the corner and then they expanded. It is still such a great intimate space to see someone play so I am sure this will be great. I feel ya, I too work in Production out here so to commit to a night isn't always the easiest task. I've been seeing a bunch of shows (usually NOLA musicians) at The Mint lately. Hope to run into you and your brand new crutch free self.
the mint is fantastic! such a cool, cool place. i wish there were more shows there i'd like to see. they do book a lot of NoLa bands. did you see Rebirth there recently?
so good news/meh news: the meh news: the start date for my next job got pushed 2 weeks. the good news: now we start the monday following this show so there should be no question about making it to HC on time.
mmtt: i'm off crutches but at this time still sporting a shoe that makes me look like i've had bunion surgery. chic!

If you make the show for sure, post a few pictures. Carl was awesome at Joe's Pub. You should have a great time. Ms Yvon are you from LA?
dude, i didn't grow up here, but have lived in LA for a long time now.
i was at that joe's pub show: terrific! i think this may be an all solo show. ;)

I missed Rebirth but saw Leo Neocentelli, Stanton Moore and Bill Dickens which was amazing. There is a great show on Feb 10th that I am hoping to check out, another NOLA group of greats including Big Chief Monk Beaudreaux :), Anders Osborne, Cyril Neville, Tab Beniot saw a larger portion of the "Wetland Allstars" as they call themselves at Jazz Fest last year and they blew me away, all for a good cause a win/win.http://www.themintla.com/show/detail/36040 (http://www.themintla.com/show/detail/36040)
I will be on the lookout for your sexy shoe boot at H.C. and lol are any of us really from LA?
yes! i'm from LA and i hope to make it to the show. i need to get my ticket!

The mellow peeps full of kindness are from LA so that makes sense. Everyone should know that I saw ChiefOKONO play last Friday and he was great. I also met his lovely girlfriend and she was great. Now go get your ticket!
:)
done and done.. i'm excited for this show!

Roll Call?
I wish!
Dan, I thought you were East Coast. Guess not.
Represent!
Johnny, I am from Massachusetts but I've been living in San Francisco for the last six years.
And I just read Yvon's full post - I thought this show is going to be at Hotel Utah in SF, but it's in LA - CRAP! stupid me...
Hotel Utah has Everest with Carl opening, on Feb. 17th I believe. I've posted it somewhere else.
Here it is: http://mymorningjacket.com/forum/index.php?topic=13871.0 (http://mymorningjacket.com/forum/index.php?topic=13871.0)
So I'm not entirely loosing it...thanks Johnny!
danz, i was ready to attend the SF show, but found out my job starts THURSDAY instead of the following tuesday. work. pfft.
this also brings my get-to-the-show-on-time anxiety back into play. ::)
