That you can put on, lie down, and know every single track is going to be amazing, warm and wonderful...........that you can just sink into and sinks into you?
cool thread! I love blanket albums... Mine's American Beauty (Grateful Dead) no doubt.
Runner ups include Lonnie Johnson's Complete Folkways Recordings, Elvis at Sun, After the Goldrush, any of Nick Drake's stuff, The Tennessee Fire, Nashville Skyline, and if I'm drunk while lying in the blanket-Exile On Main Street
ha, awesome! I'll have to check out Nick Drake and Lonnie Johnson. TN Fire and American Beauty are GREAT examples. Exile On Main Street might make me rip up my blanket and set it on fire. :)

Any AA Bondy records.
If you have someone else under the blanket with you "THE XX"
Love this.
Not sure it fits just right, but my blanket album is Roger Waters' Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking.
Morphine - Good and Andrew Bird - Mysterious Production of Eggs also make me want to just close my eyes and soak them all in.
Pink Floyd- Wish You Were Here
Radiohead- OK Computer
Rush- Moving Pictures
Beatles- Sgt. Pepper
Explosions in the Sky- The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place

Modest Mouse - Everywhere and his Nasty Parlour Tricks (or can I not include EPs?)
The National - Alligator
Reigning Sound - Break Up, Break Down
Ryan Adams - Love is Hell
Tragically Hip - Road Apples
Yo La Tengo - I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One
Zombies - Odyssey and Oracle

Now I hafta take a peek through the collection...... this is a great topic idea, love it!!
Edit: OooOps I was going for "actual" blanket hahah like "goodnight" blanket.... well now I have a little leg room for selections :)

I f-ing love you. You have turned me on to galaxy 500 AND built to spill. The fact that you added Explosions In The Sky makes me want to lip kiss you!!
ps.
Sgt. Peppers, Wish You Were Here, and Ok Computer are three of the best albums ever made. I can defiantly curl up to them. Do I love you enough to try Moving Pictures?
Of Course!!!
but I'd rather hear it while you used a spoon for the whammy bar effect while wearing nothing but your tighty-whiteys.
again :-*

I have a standing assumption in the "other music thread" that MMJ is presumed for all questions where appropriate, like unless it's in a shitty albums thread.
Bon Iver - For Emma Forever Ago
I Love wilco but I've never listened to AM, I'll have to give that a try. Rush has been mentioned twice already??? and only once by Tracy. :o

Good policy, chode -- guess I haven't played along in these threads enough.
I'd like to add the Decemberists' Castaways and Cutouts to my list.
I wish I could add the White Album, but if Revolution 9 didn't disqualify it, Good Night would.
I would like to give a big HELL YEAH! to Love Is Hell, Fox Confessor, For Emma and of course IT STILL MOVES (me)

Interesting choice with Pros and Cons. I was thinking Floyd for this, maybe Meddle or Wish You Were Here (or AHM, or DSOTM, or...).
For the Dead, American Beauty is a masterpiece.
I'd definitely include It Still Moves.
How about some Traffic, say Low Spark or John Barleycorn? I always stop what I'm doing so that ALL I'm doing is listening to those albums.
Great thread.
Ryan Adams- Heartbreaker
This is Ryan Adams at my favorite. So much heart is put into this album, and I love the soft tenderness to it.
Bob Dylan- Blood on the Tracks
If I had to only choose one Dylan album to listen to this would be that album.
Grateful Dead- Reckoning
So many different Dead albums to choose from, but this one gets the nod because it is an acoustic album.
Nirvana- MTV Unplugged
This is the album that started me down the musical rabbit hole. Lake of Fire was the song that made me want to play guitar.
I love my music soft and sad for the most part, and these albums do soft and sad perfectly.
love this thread ...

Most MMJ (ok, all MMJ)

yeah, that one! Sigur Ros - ( ) was the first thing to come to mind. it's hypnotic, relaxing, and beautiful. soundscapes with structure. they've actually convinced people their music is brainless when it's extremely intricate and meaningful. that album is perfection, can't believe I'm saying this but it kinda rivals any album ever made. it's quite genius conceptually and the studio sound is amazing.
Sigur Ros - (Untitled) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqJ8hFgYwVg#ws)
= spine tingling.
Off the top of my head:
Neil Young - On The Beach
Port O'Brien - Threadbare
Bright Eyes - Wide Awake and its Morning
Arcade Fire - Funeral
The Band - Music From Big Pink
Simon and Garfunkel - Sound of Silence
Bob Dylan - Blood on the Tracks
Dave Brubeck - Time Out
Grisman/Garcia (since Woodnymph mentioned 'em) - Shady Grove
MMJ - At Dawn
Jimmy Cliff - Unlimited

I agree with all of this.
I added another one to my original list...
The Trinity Session - Cowboy Junkies
add
David Bowie- The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars
I've gotta add another: Mississippi John Hurt- Last Sessions (from 1966)
(he's a folk bluesman from the earliest days of the blues who rarely left home in Avalon, MS. The recording was done right before he passed onto "the better place". How much more blanket-y can it get?!)
Candi Staton - self-titled
Just a chunk of sweet soulful goodness.
Galaxy 500 - On Fire
The Samples - Transmissions From the Sea of Tranquility
The Replacements - Tim
Husker Du - Candy Apple Grey
I think Galaxy 500 was the reason I started this thread.
OK, as a fan of the band, an owner of the car, and an insufferable spelling nazi, I'm going to have to ask you guys to spell it right (errr...wrong):
Galaxie 500
/sorry :embarassed:
Ok, between this and the Wanda Jackson thread......I'm just going to call it a day now. :embarassed:

Destroyer Destroyer's Rubies
So much to choose from...
MMJ - At Dawn
John Coltrane - My Favorite Things
Jerry Garcia Band - Live (the double disc set, not even sure its still available)
Blind Melon - Soup
Black Crowes - Amorica
Led Zeppelin - Houses of the Holy
Pink Floyd - ANY OF 'EM, seriously...
I can go on...
Joan As Police Woman - Real Life.
This album is so smooth that it probably should be in the 'Albums like silk sheets' thread...
