OK so I thought of a stupid little trivia game that probably will bore the hell of you so I apologize ahead of time for making you read this.
I was thinking album names and came up with four categories that I will call "A", "B", "C" and "D" types. It's the very rare "D" types that I am interested in. I know there are more out there, I just can't come up with them now and I know you all can help.
"A"
This is the self titled album name. Pretty self explanatory.
example: Blind Melon - Blind Melon
"B"
This is for the album named after one of the song titles on the album.
example: My Morning Jacket - At Dawn
"C"
This is for the album with a name that is totally independent of the band, songs and lyrics.
example: My Morning Jacket - It Still Moves
"D"
Finally, this category is an album named after just a lyric somewhere in the album but is NOT a song title.
example: Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon
This is my favorite type of album name and the one's I'm looking for. GO!
(Also, there is another oddity I thought of that is a combination of "A" and "B" but I'm not sure there is more than one of those. Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath. But if you can think of anything that is wierd or fits outside of my categories I'm also interested in them.)
Nice one!
I can't come up with a D right now, but how about another oddity like Led Zeppelin's Houses of the Holy? Being the title of a song that's on a completely different record! Could be a "B-1" maybe...
A. J Roddy Walston & The Business - J Roddy Walston & The Business
B. The Doors - Strange Days
C. Grateful Dead - Aoxomoxoa
D. Beck - Odelay (Lord Only Knows)

D. Beck - Odelay
Exellent. And quick!
Here's another D:
Grateful Dead - Wake Of The Flood (Here Comes Sunshine)
Houses of the Holy would definitely be a "C/B" hybrid -- I wasn't even thinking about that one on its own, before Physical Graffiti existed!
OOO! /Horschak hand-raising/ I thought of a D: Castaways and Cutouts by the Decemberists! (California One/Youth and Beauty Brigade)
Interesting game!
D- Wilco - A Ghost is Born (Theologians)
D. Phish - A Picture Of Nectar (Cavern)
D. Dr. Dog - Fate (The Beach)
D)
Built to Spill- Perfect from Now On
Steely Dan-Katy Lied
(actually it's Katy Lies; is that close enough?)
D. Modest Mouse - Good News For People Who Love Bad News (Bury Me With It)
Every Pixies Album with the exception of Trompe Le Monde. Surfer Rosa, Come On Pilgrim, Doolittle, and Bossanova are all lyrics. The best is "Come on Pilgrim, you know He loves you."
The Pixies - Levitate Me (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6WuB-QgRjw#)
Snoop Dogg - Doggystyle
D.
Iron and Wine - "Our Endless Numbered Days" (Passing Afternoon)
Iron and Wine - "The Creek Drank the Cradle" (Upward over the Mountain)
Frightened Rabbit - "The Midnight Organ Fight" (Fast Blood)
Kings of Leon - "Aha Shake Heartbreak" (Taper Jean Girl)
Category D - Bright Eyes - I'm Wide Awake It's Morning (Road to Joy)
Oh you guys rock! I knew you would come thru strong! And Tracy, yes, the Steely Dan counts and actually might even be extra special. I should have thought about Aha Shake, since I remember thinking it was one more reason I loved that album. Oh KOL of the past, where have you gone? :'(
Twilight Singers - Blackberry Belle (Number Nine - moaned out by Mark Lannegan)

The National - City Middle (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fG6lCN3XkIM#)
This is turning into a very intersting mix-tape. In Order to Complete my assignment:
Come On Pilgrim - from Levitate Me
Surfer Rosa - from Oh My Golly!
Doolittle - From Mr. Grieves
Bossanova - from Hang Wire
Ahh, that would be a good mixtape! Maybe after a few more days, we can try to vote it down to 15-18 songs.
Mixture of A and B Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - "Clap Your Hands Say Yeah" Clap Your Hands! ......so close wonder if that counts

Nice. How'd I miss the Hold Steady?
Although it is not sung (does that still count), Category D:
Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot (Poor Places)

Its a looped recording of a woman saying, "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot".
The following is from an article in Wired about Wilco being sued for using the recording:
In 1998, London-based Irdial-Discs put out a four-CD collection of broadcasts from so-called numbers stations -- mysterious shortwave transmissions, allegedly sent by the worlds' intelligence agencies, of monotone readers spewing alphanumeric streams. On the first of the discs, a woman in an indecipherable accent -- a Mossad agent, according to legend -- keeps repeating three words: "Yankee ... hotel ... foxtrot."
It's the same recording that loops for a minute and a half during "Poor Places," the 10th track on Wilco's 2002 album. After a two-year legal fight, Tweedy agreed in an out-of-court settlement to give Akin Fernandez, Irdial's owner and sole employee, a substantial royalty for the recording.
That counts! It even has a backstory. Excellent!
The wilco one is great.... How about Young Neil - Zuma (Cortez)
