The Big Night in KY got an amazing "Tyrone".
Mountain Jam NY got "Carnival Time"
Just downloaded the 70 plus MMJ cover songs Archive and would love to hear some of these live.
Some songs I would love to hear live being covered:
Beastie Boys "Something's Got to Give"
Pat Benatar "Invincible"
Madonna "Like a Prayer"
Phil Collins "In the Air Tonight"
and also anything from Tom Petty or Bill Withers Greatest Hits Albums even though it may be cliche, it would be WONDERFUL!

I always thought they should cover the 9 minute version of this

I can't imagine anyone hating being compared to Neil Young.
Cavalry - Midnight Youth

But they never will....
Been wondering where the cover thread went.
Top of my "covers wish list:"
Living Colour - Cult Of Personality (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xxgRUyzgs0#)
With this one, I would lose my mind:
Heart - Crazy On You (live 1977) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gpNqB4dnT4#)
yes and yes, ky! it's ridculous how much we think alike. ridiculously awesome, i mean
this one would be bananas!
Eurythmics - Would I Lie To You? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uhpu2N4rQZM#)
Hey Ky, I know it doesn't count, but I saw the Decemberists with Shara Worden and Becky Stark cover Crazy on You -- this may be the 3rd time I've said that here, so I'll stop.
I've always thought Xanadu would be nice. The Rush tune, not Olivia Newton-John's ;D
Uhm, it's why we're friends, YNWA!!!! And, yes, Eurythmics...yessssss
Haven't heard that from you, Crispy, but that's amaaaazing. I just youtubed that so fast my keyboard caught fire. Enjoying it now...mmmmm......
And what do you have against Olivia Newston-John? Are we gonna have to have words at Red Rocks? ;)
That would be *Newton-John....everyone knows Olivia Newston-John is a horrendous bitch.
I'd love to see them play 'Northern Sky' in Boston. I'll be there with my wife and that was our wedding song.
Just found out today that MMJ covered it and I'm excited to hear it!
Honestly i could listen to their version of careless whisper and never get tired of it...ever.
Edit: AND HIT IT AND QUIT IT !
I'm sure this is floating around elsewhere on the forum, but it's a pretty sweet archive of MMJ covers:

Whoa Ky, I got nothin agin Olivia Newton-John -- I'd just rather hear Rush's Xanadu! Now if the boys were to start playing Have You Never Been Mellow...

Oh, Sandy.

Yes, I was! I think I ran into you on the beach....I was with darkglow and steam engine. You were with a very lovely lady, but it wasn't until we walked away that they told me who you were. Did not introduce myself...sorry! :embarassed:
And yes that cover was incredible! LOVE GP...

great call. i also wouldn't mind some bizarre country covers like "walkin after midnight" by patsy cline or "cocaine blues" by johnny cash. but i'll cast my formal vote for "the killing moon" by echo and the bunnymen, i feel like they'd nail that.
give us one for Santa Barbara... I think Santa Barbara is one of the few big cities in California that never gets referenced and wordchecked into any song lyrics, hahhaah
Man, when a band starts playing covers every night, then that's all anyone looks forward to. I mean, Widespread Panic, anyone?
I would rather they cover their own songs from earlier in their career...you know, the ones they HARDLY ever play anymore?
