I was on the balcony looking out over everyone and when Jim reached the line "the fact that my heart is beating is all the proof you need" it brought tears to my eyes. When I listen to My Morning Jacket, I imagine speakers in the sky and everyone coming out of their homes and mundane jobs and coalescing in a field to dance, ridding the world of ghosts. This concert manifested my imagery and made me cry. It was great.
edit: I'm a 23 year old male.
Nice first post, eagerOwl; Welcome to the board.
Thanks.
Welcome, eagerOwl. I nearly cried listening to the Chicago recording. An epic show. You are one lucky 23 year old male. No shame in tears. We have a thread dedicated to such moments (its around here somewhere, but I can't find it).
I was going to start a thread about this particular version after hearing it for the first time last night. Have they been experimenting with this arrangement for a while, or was this just a spontaneous jam? The newly-added freakout after the comedown blew my mind.
Also, anyone who says Jim's voice is shot is sorely mistaken.
eagerowl- pm me your address my sister in law made a steam engine themed shirt for our group that came up from Florida for the show it just so happens that i've got 1 left... i'll send it to you.
can anyone tell me if jim was saying words at the end of that or just yelling? I can't decipher it. It was an amazing show though, one of my favorite to date.

Aw, that is awesome - what a nice gesture! Love this forum
Oddly enough, this particular Steam Engine didn't make me cry. And Steam Engine
always makes me cry.
I don't know what happened. :-\

she was awesome, we only got to talk a little but she seemed pretty cool. And she was really rockin' out to Honest Man, which was pretty awesome itself!
1eyed_jack, is that you?? ??? (row G?) ;D
And Dave, it was odd, 'cause the Steam Engine in Milwaukee the night before got me all choked up like usual. I dunno what happened...
Seriously the best song in the world, though.
T5 is my only live experience with Steam Engine. It was like that whole show was a build up to that point. And yeah, my eyes were a little wet by the end of it.
I want to transport myself back in time to October 17 2010 and live that week again...

likewise :) those were both the other guys first show and they loved it. I need to keep an eye out because apparently you are stalking me at concerts. That's still hard to believe you were at red rocks when i was a few years ago!
I'm not gonna lie, I too get a lil misty hearing SE live

Can I go with you? I'd just settle for that whole crew (and everyone else on here) being together oncea gain in the same place... Hope all is well with you, ralph (and mrs. ralph).
I cried at least once a night during that run.... The song that really did me in that week wasn't Steam Engine, but this one:
One In The Same - My Morning Jacket (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VliqEmsaCI#)
Thanks for sharing
eagerOwl....you're definitely not alone in your sentiments/emotions. This band does strange and wonderful things to the soul...
