Title: Sending stuff to get signed?

Last night I wanted to get my copy of Carl's What Birds Say signed last night but my silver sharpie crapped out.  Just wondering if I mailed it to him with a SASE if he would sign it.  Has anyone tried that?

Years ago my GF just sent the band manager an email asking if Jim could sign a poster for my birthday and they did it no problem. They shipped it right back the next week.
