Anyone know if they are planning on streaming ACL this year? Tried checking their website but couldn't tell. They seem to have a youtube channel but I don't know if that necessarily means a live stream...
yes, they plan to stream last I saw.
i assume they will. i think the same people that put on lolla do ACL.

Question: Exactly how does one tape or download or whatever a live stream off of youtube? I know someone will upload one, but I'd really like to be able to do it myself.
Another reason to hate my cousin for having his wedding this Saturday.

I know there's keepvid (http://keepvid.com/), which is good for downloading regular You Tube video. I use Stream Transport (http://www.streamtransport.com/) for things like the rebroadcast of Unstaged and Lollapalooza. If you try to capture the webcast as its happening, there are likely to be hiccups along the way. Hopefully, the entire webcast gets rebroadcast and that capture will be more pristine.
On another note, I made promo posters for this webcast and have them on my classroom walls and doors. I even did little tear-off tabs with the date, time, and url so students can check this out.

You'd have to make your way up to New Hampshire for that one and i think the students would notice a "stranger" taking Mr. Yacks poster! Lol
Don't mean to be the resident hater but I actually disagree with the notion of advertising your favourite band in public school, just because you like them. Kids already have enough distractions all around them... even if MMJ is a worthy distraction... Seems like community events and other things that get kids involved or active might be more worthy than a webcast.
I'm sure you are a wonderful teacher and mean no disrespect, and you probably post all kinds of good things on your door. I dunno... maybe it's just cuz I had this french teacher in grade 5 who used to insist on playing French child pop star Jordi in class every day... drove me insane!
PS - Nice poster!

Hey Resident Hater--Quirky Science teachers like JYac and TEO make the world go round. When I was in school, I wish I'd had teachers who got excited about anything. I nominate your opinion as worst opinion of the year. Pfffffffffftttttttttttttttttttttt
SHiiiiittt maaaannnnn!!! Again I re-iterate that I mean no disrespect to anybody, their profession, their fandom, or the glory of MMJ. I don't know any of you personally but I know you are all great people, Mr. JohnnyYac included! Don't mean to ruffle too many feathers here, but in the interest of debate...
Let's say a teacher was obsessed with Justin Bieber... had his picture on the wall... posted news and updates about Bieber shows on his door and played Bieber every morning in an effort to influence his pupils to dig Bieber... would you consider this appropriate behaviour in the public school system?

dating myself but my 6th grade science teacher was obsessed with Paula Abdul...you opened up the closet and there was a people sized poster of her in his room. when his wife visited the classroom, it was our job to make sure she didn't open the closet. it was funny...nothing more. it's fine, it's appropriate..there are so many bigger problems with the education system, passionate teachers like JohnnyY are the biggest asset to the public school system...i'm sorry your teacher had such shit taste in music, though....
PS when i visited TEO, he took me on a tour of his classroom and showed me all the things his kids were planting and doing...we've got the best teachers around on here, it's only a plus that they have great taste in music
(okay okay, i'm off my soapbox now)

Don't see any real need to debate anything here. Interesting, creative, educator who also happens to be a MMJ fan trying to pay it (the Jacket love) forward. Just sayin'.
I hear you, BusterD. I try not to go overboard, but I figure the kids will need to know why they have a sub when I head to NYC. ;) Also, I need to lay the groundwork for my next big Omnichord performance during winter carnival!
I ask my students to share their passions as well, so that I might better connect our biology, zoo, genetics, or physical science concepts to their lives. The emotional and physiological responses to music, considering the diversity of musical tastes, is facinating.
Funny thing, we had an Open House two nights ago, and two of my students' parents took tags about the webcast. One asked his daughter to have me make him a Lollapalooza DVD.
By the way, don't forget the webcast!

Mr. Yac Thanks for replying it to me and not calling me a fucking idiot! Ok peace everyone enjoy the webcast!!
Just found out about this, badass! :bath:
Why dont they post this stuff on the site's homepage?!!
Also, I gots no probs with teachers talking about their musical interests, or personal interests/hobbies. IMO it helps build a rapport and student-teacher relationship. 2 of my 3 favorite teachers in high school did this. 1 was a Lenny Kravitz fan and another a Phish fan and each told multiple stories about various experiences with their music, concerts, road trips, etc. The latter was even more fitting since the classes he tought were Psych and Sociology. Since we had similar music interests, I even burned him some bands he had never listened. Im all on board with this aspect of teaching.

That is the one I will record then. I've downloaded Stream Transport and I've practiced using it on a couple of youtube videos. It looks rather simple. Perhaps after I've recorded it, you can walk me through what I need to do to upload it to megavideo.
Also, I teach high school English and I also promote my favorite bands to my students. My AP English class is reading William Bowers article, "I Think I'm Going to Hell" for one of their nonfiction readings. The vocabulary is elevated enough that it is a challenging read for them. I think the kids respond to things that they see that their teachers love. However, I don't try to completely push it on them either. I've always got several kids that are true budding music lovers and sometimes my taste in good music will reach them when other things won't. I wish I had ink in my printer at school this week. I would have downloaded your poster and put it up in my room as well.

That pic is awesome, Brooke! The boys is havin' fun. Bodes well for this evening.
(though, on second glance, it appears Bo's arm is on fire :-\)
I've been through nonstop troubleshootin' as my interweb has been on and off all day. Finally got 'er fixed, I think (you're seein' this post, so...).
Also, to Fully et al, recording either tonight's live or tomorrow night's repeated stream might not be ideal, as both will suffer from signal consistency, lag, and pixelation issues. Its still worth a try, and I will be working on it, if not tonight then Sunday. The hi-res captures of Unstaged and Lollapalooza came from posted video made available later, not streamed but archived, so the picture was more pristine. I guess we can't guarantee they'll make tonight's MMJ set available in full after Sunday, so best of luck with the capture, one and all.
I'm pumped. it's the first webcast of the year where my show doesn't fall after it. no spoiler alerts to worry about. just pure rocking going down tonight. sucks they are only giving them 90minutes. kind of a cocktease.

so we're looking at like 20songs then you think? looking at the lolla set length, it seems to leave room for a little spontaneity. if they drop Out of my system, Golden, and I'm Amazed they could throw in a lowdown or something for sure. or a phone went west. the one negative thing my friend said to me at meadow brook was in reference to the one big holiday closer. he's seen them about as many times as me and turned to me and said "do they always close with this?" and I said "yeah, pretty much", and he replied "oh, that's sorta gay.". one big holiday should be used early so the n00bs get that shit out of their system and the vets can end on something they consider premium grade jammage. opposed to the predictable.
I tweeted jim, tom, and patrick telling them to bust out the deep cuts tonight. and suggested Cobra and Lowdown. hopefully they appease my wishes. tweet them up before the show, who knows what could happen.

I will say there is some or was some really weird script running on that page. so there is something funky with it. see if a different browser works better. fuck with how much information you allow the site to store on your computer when you right click the video settings of the stream. the sound for this stream kinda fucking blows.

Oh they are on tonight. A jam to start off the record!!!!
FU*K. that intro was titillating....
Choppy as shit over here. Yes, Carl is killing another webcast, he winds up for these things aparently.
Jim looks like he's about due for a haircut. Perhaps he's growing his fur for winter warmth.
the central tri-force of MMJ is powerful and ignited tonight. Carl and Bo are doing well also.

I like this rock n' roll.
gaps in the touring schedule do this band wonders.
This is proof that we need another live DVD. As undeniably awe-inspiring as Okonokos is every time I watch it to bed, they've improved their game since then. This era of the band needs to be captured.
new keys on OTR too! This song is one that never gets old to me....

This song is so special to me. My very first favorite MMJ song (and still my favorite to this day). Imagine my disappointment when I found out this was crossed out the Indy setlist.
Was actually played at Indy. Thinking of Dancefloors there for a second (my 2nd favorite MMJ song) :)
Sorry I'm late. Came home 15 minutes before showtime to find the cat had died. I needed to console my three girls (3, 7, and9). We're all sad, so cheer me up, MMJ!

Yeah, my plan is to see it as soon as I can. I love Cameron Crowe and I'm excited to see what he did with all that footage. Would have given a lot for their fest to be just a tad bit closer. Extensive travel=Expensive Travel, which doesn't always fit into a college student's budget.

great set but nothing like a regular mmj show. festivals are great but an mmj headliner show ain't like anything else.
Spectacular show. I would rather be at a MMJ headlining show, but there's an undeniable energy that they bring to festivals that isn't quite as prominent at all of their tour dates. That being said, a regular MMJ tour date contains more energy than an entire tour of most other bands. What a show! And thanks to everyone on the thread, I enjoyed enjoying the show with you all. Get some sleep, cause tomorrow could be quite the day..... :D

That is one of the many awesome things this announcement could be. Thing is, I don't know of many bands who could back up a "major announcement." I think in most cases, I would be disappointed with what they considered "major."
But that's one of the great things about this band. They always deliver. Expectations are only made to be exceeded when it comes to MMJ.
We are PJ fans, bootlegs are part of the program for us. Where they at MMJ???
I need the 40 Watt, I need NYC, NYE, I need Roo 04, 06....get with it damnit!!! :)

I'm rewatching. It's difinitely a "best of" setlist. And I'm not complaining about that. Although deeper cuts are always highlights for me.
You're HOT!!!! :bath:
I tell ya, 3 of my 5 MMJ shows this summer were fests. They may not dust off rare tunes, but they bring EPIC performances, perfectly designed to blow new minds.
Thanks for the kind words about Stormie. You guys are fucking awesome!
Stormie is a great name. FACT!
what a clear webcast, loved that..Dancefloors should be a staple of every show!..i actually left a (LIVE) Hold Steady show to get home to watch this...never disappoints..
also liked seeing the end of Bright Eyes, glad he played something from Digital Ash in a Digital Urn (LOOOOVE that album) but it was awkward watching him trying to crowd surf to hipsters who couldn't hold him up.

JohnYYac, I know you recommended recording Sunday night, and I may, but this seems ok. I rewatched it and I didn't see any skipping. But my mind may have wandered while I watched it.
I was occupied tonight, just got in and getting excited reading these reviews!
-Fully, thanks for recording! Going to check it out now !
-Mr. Yac, my condolences- I'm sure the positivity you bring to this board will be no match to the positivity you bring to your grieving family!
-And finally I hope that people here aren't actually pissed about my earlier comments; was merely provoking debate/half-joking about my horrible fifth grade French class experience. I know JohnnyYac is a cool guy because of the funny posts he writes here and some of the videos I've downloaded that he was gracious enough to share, I never questioned that. Forget I ever mentioned it.
-Download at 92%, time to rock out!

20 minutes in, no skipping so far, loving it! Thank you so much for sharing! :)
thanks for uploading that stream. Looking fwd to watching. quick question though: are you able to skip around/fast forward when watching?
I just tried to watch it, and whenever I try to skip ahead, it just cuts off. Didn't know if I was doing something wrong, or if it can only be viewed in order start to finish.
Thanks!

it's your call. I'm going to be smoking this shit I just got called "Chemo" haha, it's prettty chronic. drdnking lots of whiskey.
Are you sure the strain is not called "chem dawg" or just "chem"? Heard of Chem before but you know how many different strains are going around these days. It's nice when you can get the actual name of the strain instead of someone just slapping a name on it but there are ways to tell if you have had that strand before. There are many to reference but i wish i could find this stuff i had one time called "Elvis" yes that's correct "Elvis" one of the best(unique) tasting out there if you can find it, get it! Sorry this has no relevance to this thread just curious what Sticky had.

I'm having the same problem. I have no idea what makes it do that. When I want to skip, I've been using the feature on the vlc player that will let me skip to a specific time on the file. If anyone has any suggestions....
are you using mac or windows?
i don't think it really matters.. there is a program called handbrake and i believe it works on both anyhow
the FLV format is really weird.. never really sure why but i always just made sure to convert that format over to .MP4 with MPEG-4 video encoding if your a streaming it on a laptop or something with windows.. and use H.264 if you use mac devices
just make sure to turn off all the sound and quality filter settings
I also use hand break to convert my vids for apple TV, however this is not working, I keep only having the first 20 minutes on my iTunes when I convert. I don't know where the problem lies so if anyone else recorded hook me up!

See, I knew there had to something more complicated that I had to do. I'm trying it right now. If it works, I'll re-upload it. Thanks for the help!

Yeah, I'm with you on that one Buster. I think my favorite part is when Cee Lo is banging his drum and starts doing a little kickstep dance with Jim.

I'm very familiar with Chem Dawg. it is definitely called "Chemo". as in chemotherapy. it's hard to trust strains but this one the lineage goes back to a dude I knows uncle, then was handed off. whether or not that's its true name, I'm not sure. there are a lot of hybrid strains around here now too getting popular. this isn't one of them. it's pure organic.

That's how it should be my friend Organic all the way, fish emulsion, worm casting and maybe some sea kelp liquid for further Organic favors, soil also is very key!! Taste is so much more when it is soil grown. But if you do find the Elvis the taste is like polyester and good old dirt but in a good way, also has no ceiling effect so the more the marrier! Enjoy your "chemo" though seems to do the trick well for you.

yeah for sure man. that hydro shit looks pretty but it doesn't have the same body and smooth flavor. it's more ph-balanced than it needs to be or something haha. but word, I would love to smoke some weed named elvis, it's gotta be chronic if it's named after the king.

Technically, I think it can only be chronic if it's named Dr. Dre. ;D

Don't believe so. That dude's in this picture I found (without his Gnarls Barkley glasses of course). Pretty sure he's just a PHJB regular who moonlights as Cee Lo at karaoke joints.

Yeah I didnt think it was really him, but Paste magazine did a recap and said it was. Then about 20 mins took that part off, so they must have corrected it.

that set kind of reminds me of a gigantic commercial for my morning jacket. they played solid but in the end that setlist really lacked creativity. to be honest I thought this type of stuff wasn't what my morning jacket was all about deep down but they keep leaning more and more on the marketing side of things. it's making it boring. enjoy the replay, I'll be watching breaking bad.

You got that right but it's named Elvis for the taste of polyester and dirt no sure why the dirt but dirt in a good way if that makes sense, kinda earthy but has it's very own unique and truly unforgettable taste. Give it a try if you can ever find it, mostly on the east coast and i was only able to come across it once. One of those ones that you wish you got more of when you got it.

I have met Chem at several parties here in New England, you guys know he got arrested last month with like 9 lbs? He was under DEA investigation and they found an elaborate grow setup, no wonder!!! I am a medical patient here and have lineage of CHEM DAWG plus other genetics like mass super skunk. Search for phish/dead show trades and you will see how the dawg was conceived. I agree with sticky, I did not like this setlist, was made for a commercial festival such as ACL nowadays.

Oh no!!! That Mass Chem/Dawg Family are the creators of the famous Sour D. If this is true and not hard to believe but that would be very sad :( >:( At least these guys were kind enough to pass the genes along as it seems as though you have the lineage of it. Mass super skunk is the father(so to speak) of the Sour and i have heard that it is pretty fab as well but never met her. I know what you mean when you say search Phish/Dead show trades cause the guys met on phish/dead tour and obtained these lovely ladies from that tour. Have done my fair share of research and know the hisory of this but very sad to hear the Mass Family is in some trouble, one falls down and it has a trickle down effect. Others will just take their place as it will never end...i thank these fine gentlemen and women that made these lovely ladies available to the masses.
