He's playing a tiny bar in Pensacola this month!
Thanks for the post CC. I'd never listened to any of his stuff before but I really dig the album. I gave it two full spins today and it was great the 2nd time around. It's the variety, all done well, that really drew me in, even if a Tegan or Sara were in it. ::)
So many white Minnesota rappers I can't keep up!
I like Lift The Curse. It reminds me of Modest Mouse.
Thanks again CC. I'm loving this album now  When I thought about it, I had heard some of his older stuff. He's quite the vocal chameleon. Some tracks he reminds me of Sage Francis (good thing) and then a couple layered choruses echo a little Everlast (very bad thing) ;D
It's climbing my list fast. Wish he wasn't skipping my town.

Sseconded! I've been listening to this like a mofo. I looooove the versatility! Am I wrong for picturing Tom Waits rapping on "Holy Water". ;D
Still trying to get a hold of some tickets when he comes to town later this month. It looks like he's gaining some popularity and the place he is scheduled to play is tiny.
Glad you guys like it!
Yeah, I hear some Tom waits in there too, also Modest Mouse.
Here's a cool feature on the Dallas Observer:

I definitely get the Waits JT. He also reminds me of Lyrics Born, someone who I've been listening for a long time in both the soul in their voice and the ability to move from straight rapping to singing smoothly within one track. I think I may trek down to DC for his show even though it's two days after Black Angels. May be a tough work week.
Meant to post this the other day. I'm happy for Sam. He deserves the pub and the success.
