Sad news.  Saw him play with Pentangle three years ago - he still had amazing ability.

Wow, I hadn't heard until seeing this.  That is a serious bummer.

I feel very fortunate that some chances came up to see him in the last few years, with him opening for Neil Young on his 2010 and 2011 tours, and a headlining tour Bert did in late 2010 (with Neil Young's wife, Pegi, opening up for him).  Before those, last chance to see him was 1995.

The guy was a true guitar hero, and also had so much soul and emotion in his music.

In a simiar vein of music, are there any other Richard Thompson fans on this board?

Saw him a couple of months ago with Pentangle, very sad news  :'(
