It seems that the Inforoo investigators have all but confirmed Bonnaroo XI's headliners:
Radiohead - Phish (2 shows) - Red Hot Chili Peppers
theres even speculation that RHCP would be a 2nd tier band and theres still an unknown headliner.
I'm done with bonnaroo, but this line up may be pretty insane.
If Radiohead and the Peppers are there, that brings up the possibility of an Atoms for Peace show as well.
It's enough to get me on the farm again. But truthfully, it doesn't take much for me to want to go. It's only an hour's drive from the old homestead. I can be in my own bed by sunup every morning.
Have you had luck scalping $100 tickets on Friday/Saturday? paid a security guard 100 on Friday last year and shared a band for beers. 300 is way too much for 2 days.
I've found two potential lineups. The first looks more credible than the second:
The second, bipolar one:

As I have mentioned numerous time, I cannot wait for the demise of Skillrex and dubstep. It's like being perpetually stuck in the third level of inception and unable to wake up. BRAAAAAAAAWWWWWMMMMMMMMM
With that said, 'Roo goes and ruins what credibility they may have by including people like Drake, which is just Bieber for grownups. However, OVERALL...if this were to be true, I can really only bitch about Skillrex, Drake, and Foster the People (they're like all the worst parts of hipsterdom rolled into one incredibly bland package).
It's definitely not enough to make me regret a Forecastle purchase, but it is enough to make me think this might be one of the better 'roos of recent times if the lineup is even remotely close.
ewind, I'm not seeing the photo from the first one. Can you or someone who can see it tell me a little about what's on it. They said they're announcing the lineup next week. I'm seeing quite a few names on the second one that I'd like to go see. But it's missing some of the obvious names that are always on there. I would also love to not see Skrillex anywhere, but there has to be somebody to play the late night glowstick tents for the teenagers. That gets them out of the way for the better shows.
Also, I have to confess that I'm going to see Drake on the 17th. I wouldn't go except that my friend wants to go and we'll have a good time. I do like his new album, and Bridgestone Arena is the cheapest place to drink on Lower Broadway in Nashville (sarcasm ::) ).

I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing ;D . Also, while I'm admitting things, I went to see Bieber* at the same location so I'll be able to assess whether ewind is correct in his Bieber for adults comparison.

and let me say about the fake potential:
Paul Simon preforming Graceland and Eddie Vedder are just about the only things that could possibly get me back to that forsaken farm. Or at least, a 1-2 punch of that caliber.
and the list of confirmed denied bands has too many that I'd hope for on it.

I was definitely taking one for the team. In fact, I reminded my husband of that numerous times several months before and after the dreaded event.
Ewind, thanks for all of the info about who is confirmed. I hope you were able to copy/paste instead of having to type all of that. I lurk sometimes over at inforoo, but I haven't found all of that information. Also, if you can find a way to not camp, that forsaken farm is a much better experience. Day parking is not too big of a hassle and a/c, a bed/and a shower every day is so much better than camping in the Somalian conditions.
Fully, you've got me thinking. My Roo buddy has always gone VIP, but his wife just lost her job so if he/we go this year, he could only do GA...wonder if I could talk him into GA + hotel?
Hmmm. I'd miss the camping vibe, but it would definitely be preferable to the Somalia of GA... ;D
The guys that post roo rumors are usually embarrassingly wrong and always disappointed when the line-up is announced. However, IF it is true, I will be back on the farm for the first time in a few years.

Usually I'll get there around 3 or so, and then stay for the late night stuff. Then I'll take a short nap in my car before I drive home. I usually arrive around sunrise and sleep all morning. Murfreesboro, and Suwannee all are on I24. It wouldn't be too far of a drive to get there.
that fake up there has the same artwork as the new bonnaroo website. the weird thing is, the bonnaroo website was changed to the new artwork after the fake.
maybe the fake isn't a fake?
It's fake. The site update has been up for a day or two now.
also, i just came to say its fake because phish has been confirmed for 1 show (supposedly)
Yeah, that's a bummer too.

So are you telling us that you wanted 2 Phish or 0 Phish shows? I'm pretty sure that I would be happy with 0 Chili Peppers.
I wanted 2 Phish shows! Love Phish :)
I could do with 0 RHCP sets. Or a negative number of RHCP sets, if that's possible.

Haha! You need to somehow "enternal sunshine of the spotless mind" RHCP out of your memory so you can blissfully carry on your life without having to listen to another song with California in the title...
Booo on RHCP hate. Its everywhere. Ive never seen them but have a good feeling they will sound waaay better on this years tour than in the other post californication stuff. Suck My Kiss is top 15 rowdy songs of all time. Gimme blood sugar>suck my kiss and all of my clothes are coming off, tempororaliy, i hope.
I have seen them. It was one of the worst sets I have ever seen any band play.
I loved everything up to BSSM but they hardly played anything off those older records.
dang ive heard that, what a bummer, in my mind it still looks like this:
thrashin' 1986 | Red Hot Chili Peppers (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9_EUhzVXpQ#)
I know, right? That's what I was hoping too. :(
Didn't mean to be harsh earlier. Who knows, I haven't seen them since like 2006 so maybe things are different now? I do think we'll be seeing them on a lot of festival lineups this year so hopefully we'll all get a chance to see them and reevaluate.
The positive thing, though, about Radiohead and RHCP being in the same place is the possibility of an Atoms for Peace set. I hope Bonnaroo makes that happen.

Up to or up through BSSM? I was thinking about this the other day. They were just added to Hangout Fest. This festival as a whole doesn't excite me too much, but there are some great "smaller" acts that I'd love to see. I live close enough to drive over for the day if a good day lines up and there are day passes for sale. Anwyay, back to my point, I used to love LOVE RHCP. MM and BSSM are two classics of mine. But I was thinking even if they were playing the same day I'm at Hangout, I honestly don't think I'd stick around for it. I can hardly stand to hear Kiedis' voice anymore. :-\
My opinion of RHCP is low right now, but not over all. Californication or whatever that album was called, was so over-exposed on 92.3 krock that it became predictable as to when it would be played (after the furious 5 at 9, which was usually 2 songs of that album, 2 other songs would immediately follow the countdown).
Overall the album wasn't anything great. It wasn't awful.
Then that album after it I loved. But I'm not sure if it was for nostalgia and it fit the summer well or not. I don't listen to it often at all anymore.
Beyond that, they've made 300 bland arena rock songs about California. They're not awful. But they're nothing worth getting excited over. They've found their groove that puts them in a place of selling out stadiums without sounding like Nickelback or losing all their soul like Queens of Leon.
It makes for great fairweather fans but exiles more die-hard concert goers. If they headlined Forecastle, I wouldn't consider myself ripped off like I would if someone like Coldplay or Adele or other pop-for-the-masses band did. But I wouldn't rush to the rail either.
Jon T., up through BSSM, definitely. That was my jr. high soundtrack!
BSSM is great. By The Way (the album after Californiacation, chode) is my favorite. YEAH I SAID IT. By the Way is a great record. I never stopped listening to it the summer it was released. Luna, I agree with what you said. I'd love to see them for the first time. Plus, Suck My Kiss is a great song.
boo on the chili pepper hate. There was even some good songs on that double LP. I haven't heard the new one yet. I'd rather see RHCP than Radiohead. SO WHAT
Don't mind us e wind, we're just old and cranky ;)

Own that opinion!! ;D ;D ;D Also, it's just fine to like whatever you like. Just like it's plenty fine to not like whatever you don't like (Drake, for example ;) )
ALady - I've met you, you are in no way old.
Aw, bless your heart, Fully. I've got a beauty regimen that keeps me young...

see I'm not impressed with the new chili peppers at all. haven't been impressed with them since Californication. after that it was straight up down hill. and like you're saying even Californication was sorta meh. I can not stand any of their new shit, thought By The Way was horrible. and they just get worse and worse. now john's out of the band again so I barely see the point in seeing them. when they played that tour with Stone Temple Pilots a decade ago they kicked as but now, fuck them. keidis is a horrible excuse for a frontman anymore, he burnt out or something. he just doesn't have it anymore. thought One Hot Minute was one of their best records because it was something out of their normal zone but the best of what they do is still in there. what happened to them is almost as bad as what happened to weezer after their first two albums.

Thanks, Nova. Now I've got to decide if I want to go. :-\ RHCP really makes me not want to go. I'll have to talk to my friend. I know that she'll want to go given that she is a huge Chili Pepper fan. Also, I really have little desire to see The Beach Boys. But there are quite a few lower on list that I want to see. Ugh, decisions.
Yup... http://lineup.bonnaroo.com/ (http://lineup.bonnaroo.com/)
Beach Boys. Really now?
Well, once again, I'm not bummed that I can't make it back down there.
I do want to see Radiohead for once in this lifetime of mine. Only been a fan since '93...
a few things....
1. how can a band make you not want to go? What about the bands that do make you want to go?
2. Beach Boys w/ Brian Wilson = the best thing to play Roo since the 08 when PJ and MMJ were both there.
best line up since '08, imo. That said, still not going.
I'm shocked that Foster the People is in the top 10.
If Forecastle manages WILCO and Jack White, plus a few from that lineup that I want to see I'll probably skip the farm this year.

I guess they just don't attract me. I like to see the headliners in addition to the little bands. Maybe what I mean is that there isn't anyone big that just pulls me in this year. I'd like to see Radiohead and Phish sure, but maybe I'm just more excited about Forecastle. There are at least 12 of the smaller bands I'd like to see. This lineup just doesn't excite me. I am happy that there is less hiphop. I'd be interested in seeing where they put Skrillex - hopefully late night. Who knows, perhaps I'll change my mind. I'm pretty sure that my friend really wants to go this year and I'm fine with going with her. I've got a feeling that Thursday night will be the night I want to be there the most this year.
And maybe I'm just thinking about the heat.
Pretty damn solid undercard. Actually, pretty amazing undercard.
Charles Bradley is ALWAYS worth seeing.
Jack Bruce shows don't exactly happen often.
Gary Clark Jr. is gonna tear shit up. Give the man a tent this year!!!
The Superjam is gonna be great. I just know it. I'd say Flea and Questlove are a lock.
DARONDO?!? You gotta be fuckin' kidding me! This guy is a PIMP! (Seriously). This guy is an underground soul legend, and whoever got this guy should win event booker of the year. The guy is on the last line of the lineup and this could be the reason I go back to the farm.
Butttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt there's a good chance I'll just stick with Forecastle.
I think the lineup is one of the weaker ones we've seen from the 'Roo over the years. Personally, I despise the 'roo and won't ever go back (went in 02 and 04), so it really matters not to me. Seems like every year though I'm completely blown away by the lineup...not so much this year.

Gotta agree with you on that one. There's usually at least something that knocks your socks off on every lineup -- this year not so much. Of course that is entirely personal opinion, as I'm sure many people are just floored by this lineup.
I was actually kind of hoping for this, because after five years on the farm, I think it's time for this cowboy to ride off to another fest. A jaw-dropping lineup would have forced me back!
After many more looks... Radiohead thru the The Avette Brothers is . After that it seems like the caliber greatly falls. The undercard is amazing, but there don't seem to be many not-quite-headliner-MMJ-caliber bands. After the beach boys there is Bon Iver/Shins/avetts/skrillex. Which totally skips a caliber of MMJ/Wilco/WSP/solo legend like Eddie Vedder. I realize that Bon Iver has exploded, but are they really what stage pre headliner material? I think no. (is what stage the main stage?)
It seems like they went from headliners straight to which stage headliners.

Two words: Lil Wayne. Sorry, a fan of Lil Wayne is not going to be the kind of person I'd want to be near at the farm. There's a line, see, and across this line are bands that just appeal to the wrong people. For better or worse, we can call it the Bieber line. Sure some people on the right side of the Bieber line will like Lil Wayne, but they'd be at Roo regardless, so they don't count. It's the ones that come from the other side of that line. They're not fans of music, they're fans of entertainment. Two different things.
With that said, I agree...these headliners are a return to form of sorts. I wouldn't go
for the headliners (except Phish), but if the undercard were better, I would definitely be pumped for the headlining sets as icing on the cake.
The undercard isn't awful. It's more festie-friendly, for sure, than recent years. But it doesn't scream "gotta be there" to me, at least not for the price of admission.
Foster the People can suck a chode.
Don't know if Radiohead, Phish, and Brian Wilson are enough to add Roo to my expense bank. I'm already confirmed for Hangout, E-forest, Forecastle. Also have a Waka main venue campsite for sell(maybe). today is full of decisions.
I wish RRE was at more festivals than Waka, or at least B-roo to get me there. Without Panic, MMJ, RRE, surviving GD members, im not finding much motivation to Roo it up. However we all have different tastes in music so opinions are just opinions.
This would have been my fourth Bonnaroo in a row. Unfortunately the lineup isn't enough to motivate me to go. Even my teenager, who is always excited about going to 'roo looked at this lineup and said "Is it weird that I'm not really enthused?"
Kurt Vile, Tune-Yards & Fruit Bats are straight off my 'roo wishlist, but they're also on my Forecastle wishlist.
Here's hoping.
And to all who are going, have a blast. I still love Bonnaroo. Maybe next year ...
My $0.02 - purely as an observer, no hope of going, is that the lineup is so-so. There's enough there that I'm hoping they live stream again so I can pick and choose. But if I had tickets in hand, or could go and was on the fence based on the lineup, I wouldn't be thrilled. I count at least 20 bands I like, so I hope I'm not being harsh, but that's true in every year's lineup.
Bad Brains is the name that brought me the biggest smile. Listened to them a lot in the mid-to-late 80s and haven't thought much about them since.
Hey Mag, I don't want to burst your Bad Brains bubble, but their show in DC a few years ago was one of the worst shows I've ever seen, and I know several other people that agree. H.R. didn't even seem like he was part of the same band. Just keep your memories and the records and don't taint them with the current live show.
I'm personally very let down by this lineup. I feel like if you take Radiohead off the top, the first few lines look pretty bad, and there is very little to be enthused about below that, particularly after how much Coachella nailed it this year.
I'm really bummed by the lack of metal or heavy music in general. One of my favorite parts of the last few Roos have been the all-day metal tents they have done.
Of the usual crew I go to Roo with, every single one of them has pulled out for this year after seeing the lineup today. So, if I still go I may need some new friends.
I'm in agreement, Whippy. I may still go just because it's so close, but I'm feeling let down right now. I had some friends who were wanting to go, but now I think I'm going to have to bail. I don't know. It's just so fuckin' hot and it ought to be worth it. I mean, The Beach Boys. I saw them a long time ago and I hated them then. Pet Sounds is the only album of theirs that is interesting. They need a few more bigger name bands.

That's just it. Roo is expensive, hot, a long drive (from Michigan for me) and a lot of voluntary hardship. But it is completely worth it if the lineup is good. Last year I saw 11 great concerts there and even had to miss a few I wanted to see. This year there aren't even 11 bands I care to see.
I'm disappointed to not be going, but I won't miss that lineup.

Fully, if I were in your shoes and had almost no travel to get there, and could be in my own bed each night, I would definitely still go. The Radiohead set alone would justify that, and there are enough other things scattered throughout that would be good. It's just when you throw in having to travel far that has made my friends bail and me consider bailing.
The conflict I'm having is that before the lineup came out I promised my 18 year old niece that I would take her to Bonnaroo for her first time. She's very excited to go, but I never expected that all my friends who go every year would back out.
So, Fully, I sort of selfishly hope you still go, so I will have some Bonnaroo peeps to hang with.
Speaking of nieces, another reason I'm bummed about this insufficient lineup is we took my niece the last two years we went, and last year she won the beard and mustache contest (best fake beard). So she's going VIP this year and probably taking her sister, and we'll have to miss out on all of their fun.
Here she is in her winning "mermaid beard." She made it herself.

She in the "money shot" at 0.50 of this 60-second video from the 2010 contest. This is the first year she was in the contest; she came close but didn't win that year.

In the still, that's her with her back to the camera in - blue shorts and amazing 'fro. The girl facing her in pink is my daughter.
Man, I'm starting to get bummed about not going to Bonnaroo.
Awesome bearded niece there, Devil. I'm bummed about it too. I look forward to going. I may break down and go just to go, but it's awfully expensive and so damn hot.

Thank you.
We have Forecastle to look forward too. And I may give another festival a chance this year. I've never been to Lollapalooza. I came close in 2007 (saw Pearl Jam at their pre-Lolla 10-club gig at The Vic) but was too under the weather that year to have survived Lolla.
Too bad Rothbury/Electric Forest never pulls anything passable together (uh, IMO.)

I agree with your last statement. Rothbury has the best atmosphere hands down, but the line up at Electric Forrest is garbage. GARBAGE
If you live 3-5 hours from Manchester, i suggest driving up Friday night or Saturday morning to scalp, you can come across an extremely fair deal.
Now there's an idea.

What kind of prices have you found in the past? Are the scalpers just off the interstate still by the time Saturday rolls around?
This reminds me of my scariest 'roo moment last year. I was driving in on Thursday, going through Manchester proper. At the Walgreen's there was a scalper talking to a carload of people. All of a sudden the driver grabs the tickets and takes off with the scalper holding on to the guys hand and being dragged down the road. I'm right behind this guy to the left and if he lets go, I probably would have hit him. I slowed down a great deal and finally the car stopped and the guy fell away. I was impressed because right at that moment, Manchester police pull up and nab the culprits. The look of terror on that guy's face is something I've not forgotten.

Ive got a couple of tricks id rather not put out in public but last year they were going for 100 on saturday day. Friday i would assume you add 50-70 bucks. When tickets are at least 250 or whatever it seems fair enough.
Radiohead + RHCP = Atoms For Peace Superjam
If anyone is in the market for a Bonnaroo ticket or knows someone who is, I'm selling the ticket I bought during the presale at the presale price of $245. That's about $50 cheaper than the current ticket cost (including fees, shipping, etc.).
If anyone is interested, please PM me.
EDIT: Ticket has been sold.
